If he was the trailing receiver in SF, we would have won that game on the last play. He kept running and followed the ball the whole time, instead of just stopping like Ross did. If you remember that ball was thrown deeper but batted backwards to where the trailing receiver should have been. Aiken would have been there. Maybe the season goes a different direction after that. Oh, well.

I just wish Gilmore weren't so inconsistent and didn't disappear as much as he does. I think Williams is just getting used to the speed of the NFL, but he's been getting open a fair amount, just not eyeing those targets like he'd probably like.

Aiken is just blowing my mind over the past six weeks. Six catches and about 70 yards per game with the combination of Flacco, Schaub, and Clausen.

I agree on Gilmore, I hope he becomes more consistent with his play. I think the problem with him is finding those open spaces and spliting double teams. Once he learns that he will be dangerous.

Rookie TEs typically struggle, Maxx just needs to get in shape and keep up with the speed of the NFL. I think both of them will grow over time.

Aiken has easily been our best healthy WR. I don't know about everyone else because they are non-existant but Aiken is the man right now. I hope he keeps this up next year, if so he will get paid.

You know what? I don't think we need to add a WR very early. Just get a guy like Vincent Jackson and add a WR in the 3rd like Pharoah Cooper and you got a good group of WRs.

Perriman

VJax

Smith Sr.

Aiken

Cooper

Camp.

TEs

Gilmore

Williams

Boyle

I like this group a lot.

Don't forget Butler. He might have some talent. Anyone named Brown can go, though.

I have really high hopes for Maxx Williams. He's a pretty competent blocker already and he's got the athleticism to split the seam. He's gonna do some damage.

Gilmore just... not a real great route runner and he lumbers around. He's gotta improve his in traffic catches.

I think Butler is a guy who will have to make his money in training camp. If so then he got a spot.

Its a learning process for Maxx Williams in his 1st year. I surely never did and don't him or any rookie TE to light the world on fire. I think Gilmore and Williams compliment each other, Gilmore is physical and bruising while Williams is more finesse in his play style. They are kind of like Fire and Ice.

Maxx is a violent player too, he's just not as strong as everyone else at the NFL level. But they are both YAC guys, and they will benefit from a healthy Joe Flacco next year.

I think Maxx is more finesse than violent personally. Don't get me wrong, I'm no saying he can't be physical nor am I saying he is soft. Just personally think he is the kind of guy who will beat you in different ways opposite of Gilmore who trys to pound you.

Same thinking of Marlon after his first season here.

Marlon was always hype, aiken has some reason for the hype. Marlons routes were non-existent, and he's 6'4" with alligator arms and zero physicality. Marlon was never deserving of the hype and anyone who knew anything could spot that from day one. Aiken has ball skills and physicality, Marlon has nothing but unused height

I think it's time to give the man respect. He must've been reading my posts on here and got tired of my trash talking. He's had a really good year now that I sit back and look at his stats objectively instead of just hating on him off the bat. He's proven to be a reliable player although we still really need one or two more playmaking WR's and I pray our front office doesn't just stay content and go into next season with an unproven BP, a 37 year old SSS coming off of a serious injury and Kamar as our starting lineup.

This can be used as a lesson.

Just because someone isn't banging on all eight right out of the gate doesn't mean they never will be.

This is also props to coaching and training.

How about Bobby Engram? He can't squeeze blood from a turnip, but man he has done a good job IMO with the WR corps. Aiken and Butler are both doing pretty decent for us, especially Aiken. Even Daniel Brown has done a good job in the few moments I saw him. I think he has done a fantastic job.

just cutting their NFL teeth. but nothing beats real game time experience.

I still like D. Brown I would like to see him stay for a while.

Aiken has really played good but I am still not sold on a #2 WR. But we all know that's up to Oz and Harbs so we will see. THAT BEING SAID AIKEN HAS DEFINITLY IMPROVED...

I agree, I think Bobby Engram has done a really good job with this group. The WRs tend to give him credit and I really think he has been key in Aiken's resurgence.

With two games to go, Aiken is at 803 yards, he could actually break 1000 yards for the year! I still think he is a solid #3 and nothing more but I'll still respect 1000 yards, although freshman is having them throw 50 times a game.

The test of a position coach is player development through time. We're finally seeing that at WR. Engram's great.

I don't wish we kept Torrey, but we can't deny that we didn't miss him. We needed him, or at least some other decent speed receiver. Givens isn't enough. Torrey could have made Kamar a lot better.

We don't miss Torrey. We miss the element of a serious deep threat in our offense. Some people(not you) forget that we drafted Breshad Perriman, I think if he were healthy we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Engram is definitely doing his thing even Jeremy Butler had look good at times. It's not just the production that's impressing me about these receivers but their route running is pretty smooth and crafty as well at times.

I was so confident in Givens. My predictions for our WR's this season have been pathetic. Thought BP was going to be the next Josh Gordon (jury is still out). Thought Aiken would be a bum. Thought Givens would turn into a stud but now it's looking like he might not even be here next season. At least Marlon Brown didn't fail me lol. Gave up on him after he finished his sophomore season. But back on topic, I agree that Torrey would've helped because we lacked that speedy deep threat all season.

Which gives me an idea. Torrey was a really bad signing by the 49ers. They overpaid and I can see them letting him go. How would Ravens fans feel if we signed the familiar face on a cheap deal in the offseason?

Id be all for it , The Offense is in terrible need of a legit deep threat , and he's proven to be pretty durable
