Eating my words, giving props where its due- kamar aiken

Aiken is not a starting caliber WR, but come on do you guys see what we have at WR outside of him? Please tell me exactly what Marlon Brown does? All I see him do is drop passes and block. I'm curious as to how he is still on the 53-man roster. I'm also not high on the idea of re-signing Chris Givens, IMO the problems from St.Louis has followed him here. He just does not make the most of his snaps. After that its Jeremy Butler who has been something but that's all.

If you want to bag on Aiken, then take a look at the other options we have at WR and compare their production to Aiken. Yes, I know he is not a starting WR as of now, but at least the guy has shown he deserves to be on the field while the same cannot be said about others. That is why OP is right when he says he is simply giving props to a guy that we did not believe would actually emerge.

if they do let boldin go, I wonder if they target a WR with their first pick... Interesting

I really think they're taking Goff. I don't see a WR going in the top 10 this draft

I'll just leave this thread saying I hope Aiken isn't brought back, and if he is (which he will be), I hope he's the number 6, number 5 at best.

But even when he was the number three/four like last season and the beginning of this season, he disappeared and wasn't a factor at all, so really he doesn't even excel in that role either.

Last year when he was the number three or four receiver the guy made plays in  a limited role.  He caught over 59 percent of his passes and  had three touchdowns which is not bad in my opinion especially considering how the number 3 receiver role was  being shared by other young receivers.

Early in this season he did disappear but I honestly think that was due to Flacco looking for Steve Smith on every play.  We have to consider that Joe Flacco did lose Torrey Smith and the only play maker he knew of was Steve Smith. It just takes time  for a quarterback to get use to a receiver especially a receiver in a new role  and it can be tough to do that at times when there's a new offensive coordinator.

I'm not saying Aiken is elite or will be elite but the guy has been good so far.

Not sure I understand this line of thinking...

Lol every physical reciever isn't made equal. He's far more Garcon than he is Boldin, someone here mentioned that already so props to them. Kamar is a strong, shifty underneath reciever.

Whether he's being force fed the ball or whether he's a #1 or #4, he's making the most of the opportunities given him based on his abilities and doing a good job of it.  Can't ask for more than that.  I think that's what this thread is about  (correct me if I'm wrong).

As for Marlon, I said before that I'm a Marlon fan; still am.  I was hoping that with SSS out that he and Aiken would be given more looks, and improve, but Brown went down soon after SSS.  Also, most of the opportunities he did get weren't that catchable. Not so much blaming Joe, but I was hoping that they would be able to work on their chemistry more when Sr went down.  With all the wrs we now have, he may be gone.

he has improved since last year though. A bigger role has givenhim a chance to grow, and while he hasn't grown into his current role of a #1, he has shown improvements that give us reason to like him as a depth guy. His ability to make difficult catches and play tough have made him a better option as our 3 than anyone else. He is more durable than camp, he at least understands the game and doesn't play with alligator arms like Brown, he has awareness unlike Waller. He has earned a role for next season, #3 is his job to lose and if he can just continue to be a tough and reliable set of hands, then he will keep that job.

I think it's officially time the Aiken haters give it up and awknowedge that he will be a pretty important piece of our offense next season. If he can produce like this with clausen and schaub at the helm then he will be just fine.

I like how you used Jacoby as an example lol. I could name a whole lot of WR's still playing at a high level who are way north of 30 (like someone on our team). And Pierre Garçon was really the only viable playmaker available for Washington in 2013 and all he did was catch 113 passes for 1,346 yards and 5 TD's. And before you bring up the age or experience excuse, Boldin had a similar stat line his rookie year but Kamar can't top 100 yards in a single game this season lol.

You forgot that this season still wasn't over, lol.

Showed twice he can track and adjust well to deep balls now. I'm looking forward to him sticking around and improving on that in the future in a role he's better suited for than the number one.

Same thinking of Marlon after his first season here.

I'll eat some words. Aiken looked very good today, making ball adjustments and showing great hands. I want to see it more consistent but I think I was wrong

Theres a difference in that with Kamar we've at least seen progression, the opposite can be said for Marlon.

Aiken. I like you.

Perriman(I understand he's not proven, but a season ending injury still makes me excited. He esentially had a redshirt year to learn the playbook)

Aiken

Maxx

Crockett

Boyle

Hell I'll throw in Allen too. I think he'll at worst be a good third down back

Terrance West

Osemele

Zuttah

Yanda

Wagner

Urschel and Jensen are good depth.

So Ozzie sucks right? Go get a WR and a legit LT and we have an offense.

Thank you Aiken. You have been a diamond in the rough

You know what? I don't think we need to add a WR very early. Just get a guy like Vincent Jackson and add a WR in the 3rd like Pharoah Cooper and you got a good group of WRs.

Perriman

VJax

Smith Sr.

Aiken

Cooper

Camp.

TEs

Gilmore

Williams

Boyle

I like this group a lot.

I really love how Kamar Aiken goes up and attacks the ball. I honestly think that's the most underrated part of his game.

Everyone loved Boldin in the 2013 playoff run because he'd go up and grab the ball, but that's exactly what Aiken has been doing since he was asked to be the number one receiver. He feels that ball is his and only his, regardless of where the defender is. I'm truly impressed with what he's been doing.

He's shown great hands, an ability to highpoint and attack the ball, football savvy at the top of his routes, great tracking ability, and some real wiggle with some good YAC.

I wouldn't even mind if he came in and started along Steve Smith over Perriman next year. Aiken is looking to me, like a good two/three.

Yeah man, Aiken is looking exactly like the guy we expected a while back when the season started. I just hope he can build off on it. I personally would be fine if we just signed a FA WR and that's all that we did at WR. I think we are going to have a killer two TE set with Gilmore and Williams. If we can get the OL back to its prime and re-establish the run game, then our offense will be historic in 2016.

We just loss two big pieces of our offense in Smith Sr. and Perriman. It won't be easy. Look at the Patriots, they lose Edelmen and Gronk and all the sudden they drop 2 straight games.

Marlon Brown did nothing of this caliber. He was not physical, inconsistent with his hands, did not have the speed to separate and surely does not have the YAC ability that Aiken has.

I just wish Gilmore weren't so inconsistent and didn't disappear as much as he does. I think Williams is just getting used to the speed of the NFL, but he's been getting open a fair amount, just not eyeing those targets like he'd probably like.

Aiken is just blowing my mind over the past six weeks. Six catches and about 70 yards per game with the combination of Flacco, Schaub, and Clausen.
