[News] Ravens Switching To Natural Grass At M&T Bank Stadium

The injuries have been racking up. I think this is the right move until they can come up with a safer alternative to what we currently have.

How do I get my hands on a chunk of that artificial turf? It would look good in the man-cave.

I was thinking the same thing.

I want one too ! And here's how it could be done... A football field consists of 57,600 square feet, slice the turf into 10" x 10" pieces and you would have enough to hand out to 70,000 fans at the 2016 home opener at M&T Bank :D

Sweet idea! B)

The ravens play way better in Natural Grass. Best version of Joe flacco and the Ravens as a team Wins are on natural Grass. So im all in. Great news!! Go ravens.

Don't spend the $$$$ on grass. Get some Star starters for the team! Need great players. Money not spent well!

Totally separate budgets. One has nothing to do with the other.

I would love to get a piece of the old turf. Great idea someone had to hand it out for free at 2016 Home Opener, but more than likely it will be "For Sale".

waste of money. use the money to get players who can tackle and catch and CB who can stay close to their defender.

The money spent on the turf has nothing to do with the money available to sign players.

Grass is not significantly more expensive over the long run. It's initial startup is high due to equipment, but over the long run (20+ years) it is cheaper. Those who sell artificial turf only show 10 year economic models, which is around the lifespan of their product. This will show a 100 - 200k savings, but the product then needs to be totally replaced. Over time natural surface will endure, save on injuries, and keep the overall temperature of the field and stadium cooler.
