2016 Salary Cap & Possible Moves

I agree, I brought up Garcons about a month and a half ago

I've been talking about Garcon for as far back as last year prior to fa beginning.  That being said, I agree he will make a stop in Baltimore.  He's not old and still has a number of years and familiarity in the offense.  I don't think Djax gets cut.  Although a possibility it's highly unlikely.   Garcon is a baller.  He's a tough player and a good blocker for a WR, something Shanahan valued in receivers when he brought him to Washington.

Agreed. Outside of speed, which I personally find overrated, I have no idea what Mike Wallace even brings to the table.

I always thought Mike Wallace was overrated anyways. No thanks to him. Besides, it's not like he has the greatest hands.

GARCON is underrated and a baller, he's like BOLDIN, just imagine him and SSS, Givens, Aiken, and flacco slinging da ball. wow.

I wasn't aware that he had any baggage. I mean I know he has known to be somewhat of a hotshot but really who isn't nowadays?

Most players don't get threatened and Their house robbed by a gang.

and this was recent? News to me

He just doesn't strike as a player you want to bring in as a luxury.

I brought this up before but I think Paul Kruger can find his way back here. He could be a cap-cut addition and he was involved in trade rumors. He has not been the player Cleveland hoped for since they gave him that monster pay day. I think they cut him and we persue.

Wouldn't be opposed to this. Lord knows we need pass rush quick...........................and a lot of it.

Per ROTOWORLD:

"Calvin Johnson is scheduled to count $24.008 million against the salary cap in 2016.

There has been speculation that this could be Megatron's last season in Detroit. He'll be 31 next season, and the Lions may choose to move in a different direction and deem Johnson's astronomical cap charge too steep for the rebuild. If the Lions cut Johnson, they'd save over $11 million, but take on a $12.9 million dead money hit. Even in decline, Calvin would have plenty of suitors. Dec 18 - 9:58 AM"

If he's cut and becomes a FA, any chance the Ravens could make a move in the offseason? I know the acquiring of Calvin has been talked about before, but that was via trade. I still think the chances are extremely slim, but I would love to see him in a Ravens jersey.

I think a lot of people want to see him in their colours - and that'll see him get well and truly priced out of our range.

Yeah man, we need a pass rush so badly, and I would not be opposed to it either.

I would love to have him here but we got no shot honestly. If we did get him, it would be our biggest free agency signing ever. Calvin? Steve Smith Sr.? And add Perriman too?! With our two TEs in Gilmore and Williams?! Yeah, its a wrap.

Do you think he'll command 10+ million annually? He's such a Raven!!! I'm sure Ozzie would be doing anything he could

He probably won't, but someone will pay him that much and probably nearly guarantee everything, there are some dumb teams out there, I hope Cleveland is not one of them, I mean Calvin and Gordon against our DBs? *Cringes*

To be honest, I would just inquire about him, but that's all. We are not a good team in the eyes of many and do not have the cap space.

Andre Johnson got  3 year  21 million dollar deal  from The Colts making atleast seven million a year. If Andre Johnson can get that while being 34 years old then I like to think  Calvin Johnson would be able to get more or similar deal.Calvin Johnson is four years younger than Andre Johnson  so that also could play a factor  into a contract deal if he was indeed cut by The LIons.

Defenses would truly fear January Joe come playoff time. Lawd have mercy.....

Nah, people would just dismiss it as Joe having a stacked group to throw to and how it makes him overrated.

But imagining him with that WR group and a couple of solid OL additions (one of the elite LTs in the draft and an upgrade at C) is a fun thought for sure.

Even if he is cut, I truly believe, even after several restructures and cost cutting maneuvers that we won't be going after him.  He would be great for Flacco.  If SSS doesn't come back and he would help Perriman and Aiken tremendously and in turn open up our running game.

Calvin Johnson is beyond wishful thinking, people. We're better just hoping for Garçon.

pretty much yeah- but you never know who he might want to play for, he might take a lesser offer to contend for a Super Bowl if he likes the way our roster is looking. You just never know. maybe SSS doesn't return and we just put all of our chips in on him. Just bc its " Calvin Johnson " doesn't make it impossible. He's gotta play for somebody. That being said- yes it is very unlikely. Edited by January J

this. If Crabtree just got 9 mill a year, I know it was the Raiders, I'm sure Megatron is still gonna be in the 10+ range. I might be the only one, but for the money I don't want him here. He seems to always have some type of Injury and hasn't looked himself lately. That being sais he is still a top ten wr in the league, I just think we need that amount of money to spread over more than one position

If u have seen Goff play ... to me he has a fairly high upside .... would u: draft Goff; trade Flacco and use the delta in money to sign more free agents?

People are holding Calvin Johnson waayyy too high on a pedestal. Hes good, but his best days are most likely behind him. Hes got some playing years left that could compliment Aiken and Perriman nicely as someone else mentioned.

After cuts, trades, restructuring and other offseason financial maneuvers, there is definitely a chance he can go to the Ravens, as well as any other team. No way he gets the same deal hes currently in on any of the 32 teams. People all over this board constantly hold certain players in a different realm and act likes it impossible they could play in purple. Just restructuring Flaccos contract alone could do serious damage (in a good way) for the offseason.

You know what? That's true. I'm sure they'd be saying that Super Bowl season was a fluke.

It would be the end come playoff time. lol

Yep................unless our defense doesn't show up and we lose like 40-38.
