2016 Salary Cap & Possible Moves

not a fan of Nate Washington , he's not the playmaker type guy that we need. Roddy white might be ok but he seems like he is running out of steam. Could be a result of Julio gettin all the targets but still he hasn't produced AT ALL. Vjax is the most enticing option out of those 3 IMO. But there will be several more options once cap cuts are made. Maybe even DJax. Who knows. Gordon is a thought and we've taken chances on guys before but it's highly doubtful. He will go to a team with a ton of cap space and nothing to lose.i think we're gonna have to break the bank for a proven veteran though regardless. Jeffrey is a pipe dream but hey stranger things have happened.

Reports came out a month or two ago that Washington will most likely part ways with DeSean. I really want him and Garçon or just one of them here

If we already have Perriman why would we want Desean? We have enough fast guys. Need possession.

It will be a year or two to make this team a powerhouse again. Too many holes and cap issues this coming year to truly make a good team, IMHO

Because speed kills. You can never have enough speed especially on offense. If SSS comes back, there's our possession receiver and all of our TE's are possession receivers as well and we could get Boyd in the second round or sign another veteran. Perriman and DeSean stretching the field will give DC's fits.

I agree. He hasn't done all that much in Washington this year either so may be more incentive to drop him. Him and perriman paired with SSS and Boyd would be absolutely phenomenal. I could totally see him in purple and black.

Yes! Would totally revamp our offense. SSS, BP, DeSean, Boyd plus our TE's and Givens/Camp/Aiken as rotational pieces. We have to operate as if SSS is retiring (which I don't believe) so we need to be greedy with the WR situation as long as we have the cap room for it.

Desean would count 6m in dead money. Garcon only 2.2m upon a release this offseason. Wash isnt dumping Jackson until the year after, and even thats a maybe. You guys really gotta check numbers before hoping for this guy or that guy. Theyll release Garcon, watch.

1. Dead money is largely irrelevant. Its a sunk cost that has no impact on decision making.

2. Cutting Garcon would free up $8M in cap space, and cutting Jackson would free up $6.75M in cap space.

Cutting Jackson is more likely, since he really doesn't have much of a role in a Jay Gruden offense. Garcon is a bit trickier, since he's due a somewhat reasonable $7.6M salary, and they can easily afford it after they let RGIII go.

Would be hard for the Redskins to cut their top two WRs and still remain competitive in a single offseason, so I'd expect one of them to stay for another year. My guess would be that its Garcon that stays. Given that its his last year of his contract as well, they could easily extend him for less to reduce his cap number.

I know what the numbers are. Dead money is a bit of an overrated issue. Teams pay more attention to cap hits than dead money.

I knew the numbers and I trust a beat writer when it comes to speculation about the teams they cover.

he did miss have this year I believe

The last thing this team needs is injuries. Not interested in him. We'll have enough speed with Perriman and Givens, we need possession guys, those are the ones that become legends. Having an obsession with speed is a very Al Davis ideology.

He's had a nagging hamstring issue and has been struggling quite a bit this year which is why I think the skins may opt to keep garçon instead of him bc he seems to be a better fit for what they do. He likely will be out of our range but you never know where he might prefer to go and he may like the idea of being the sure fire number one in our offense. His numbers have been way down and he's getting older so we might be able to swing it if and when joe restructures and after some cuts are made- who knows.

speed is something we have lacked all season. Perriman is still a question mark and I'm not sold on givens whatsoever. If I were to guess he won't be back. It never hurts to have more than one speed demon...ask Pittsburgh.

Update on this website states the rookie pool is increased because of the draft position (for rookies only). I'm sure the needed cuts will be made and youth will supplant the aging non-factors on this team. The only ones that may survive the cuts are those that are to costly to cut.

You want DeSean's baggage too?

I'm not big on Givens either and I don't think he returns. I don't think we need a speed guy but rather someone who can be a deep threat. Vincent Jackson is a really good one even though he does not have the speed, he has consistently been one of the best deep threats in the NFL. I really think he could fill in both rolls being a guy who can attack the middle of the field while being a deep threat.

Is he a cut candidate?

Potentially, though they said the same thing about him going into 2015. Me personally, I think the Bucs could look to extend him for cheaper, since 2016 is his last year of his contract. They've got plenty of cap space to do whatever they want.

Thanks. Never really thought of VJax as an option, but I'd be excited if he came here.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I hope we sign Mike Wallace if he is cut.

He's probably not a good fit in Marc Trestman offense. If The Ravens want another one dimensional receiver then they might as well just re-sign Chris Givens.

Agreed. Outside of speed, which I personally find overrated, I have no idea what Mike Wallace even brings to the table.

I wasn't aware that he had any baggage. I mean I know he has known to be somewhat of a hotshot but really who isn't nowadays?
