So Far Having The Bye Week Didn't Help Anyone

10 posts in this topic

I tell you what, these playoff bye weeks are starting to backfire on every team the past few years. It's almost becoming a disadvantage. We'll have to see what the Steelers do against a *Hot* San Diego team.

I think if three road teams win this year, this will become a major issue topic.
I love watching the "experts" pick the "rested" teams. DOH!
Naw my favorite line of the day came from the "experts" at ESPN. When picking the Ravens-Titans game. "They were the last time to lose a game so that has to count for something right"?

Well i guess it meant that they were the first to lose last or the last to lose first or the first to.......ah hell what do they know anyway.

I have to disagree. While the Titans didn't win, having a few weeks off ultimately did help them. Collins was on point, and had Chris Johnson played the entire game, we would have had a ton of trouble.

Tennessee planned their whole game around Johnson making plays in the flat, and when he went out, they started to experience problems.

The time off left the Titans pretty well conditioned, and with a solid understanding of the Ravens. Had the Titans not had a bye, they may have had to go without Haynesworth and KVB, which would've been devastating.

I do agree, though, that momentum does seem to really help. That being said, the Ravens had guys going down left and right, which could have been due to fatigue. I'm not sure what my conclusion is, but a bye definitely is not a distinct advantage. We lost our game to the Colts after having some rest, and we've now strung together two playoff games in a row with no bye.

I did think that if we got the ball first, we could probably score since they might be a little rusty. But the Tennessee D was pretty damn good all day. They never seemed to tire. So I guess you're right the bye week did help. But ultimately they lost.

Carolina on the other hand, looks like the bye-week was a disadvantage.
