Prospects with weird and unpredictable stock

38 posts in this topic

what are some guys that the ravens could be interested in, but we have no idea where they may end up drafted? my guys are..

myles jack, anywhere from top 10 to early 2nd. would draft in teens.

josh doctson, could be top receiver taken, could go in the 2nd. would draft in late 20s

emmanuel ogbah, same kind of stock as jack  would take top 10

yannick ngakoue, could go top of the 2nd, could fall all the way to the end of the 3rd. would take late 2nd.

travin dural, could go possibly as high as mid 2nd, or as low as the early 4th, some outlets think very highly of him, some barely know he exists, i would take him in the early 3rd in a heartbeat

the more i watch jaylon smith...

i really like him. I think he could end up the steal of the draft ..as in one of the best players. He's exceptional at coverage..

i agree, hes a really good player, but something just tells me he would have trouble being a 3 down player for us

I would take Emmanuel Ogbah out of those players

this is the guy in this year's draft I'm in love with. No telling what happens from here till then with his stock but I hope he is in reach. Say we pick 6 and bosa, Hargreaves, tunsil, and we are looking at Ramsey or ogbha... Do you think we can take him that early? I would assume we look for a trade back then.

he could replace daryl smith. I have to be honest here as much as a like cj mosley i think jaylon smith is a better player ( coming out)...he also allows us to be super flexible..

they're different types on linebackers. Mosley is more traditional and jaylon isthe more modern style guy.I just think our defense seems more suited to traditional linebackers that excel in the run. Myles Jack seems stronger close to the line and also offers more utility in the passing game. I like him over jaylon for this team specifically

Mckenzie alexander

Not sure what to think of this kid as hes a five star recruit and was the 4th best prospect out of 2013 according to espn. Hes a redshirt sophmore and seems to be expected to enter early for the draft, now the thing is that he has all the traits and athleticism to be a great corner but so far through college he hasnt put up great numbers he has a total of 10 passes defensed and no picks through 2 years. Not sure what to think of him but hes as talented as any player in the draft but theres not much production from him. He could go as early as the top 15 or as late as the end of the second round. Hes a prospect worth to keep an eye on. I see his stock skyrocketing after the combine though. Freak athlete

He tore his hamstring and is out 3-4 months, meaning he may not declare as he is a redshirt junior.

Right now everyone's stock is fluid as it is so early in the process, but the ones that stand out to me right now are players coming off injury and that have questions about what position they are going to play in the NFL.

If you're looking for a traditional "Ravens type" LB check out Kentrell Brothers, he's a little undersized but he is a beast in the run game.

Tyler Boyd as of late - used to be arguably the best WR in the entire class (I still think he is and i don't think its close) and now some are projecting him making it into the 2nd

Pretty much any QB really, Paxton is getting the buzz now as a top 5, used to be Goff, before him it was Cardale Jones, who knows when the first QB will be off the board at this point.

Brothers is a beast in everything, good speed and great motor, but he's a guy that fits into this thread, I think he could easily experience a Stephone Anthony type rise during the offseason. He's just been unstoppable this season.

I like Brothers. It will be interesting to see how his stock does.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he rose a lot he is a beast. I see him going in the mid to late second though because I don't see him putting up as good combine numbers as Anthony. Could you imagine if we could pick him up at the top of 3rd, we'd be set at ILB for years.

I think Alexander is catching steam as the second best corner in the draft and I have seen many pundits putting him in the top 15. He's actually one guy I'd be okay trading back for and one that I don't think gets talked about enough.

im only concerned with his productivity throughout the college level. Hes played 2 years and has had no pick? Theres nothing special there and i cant find much tape at all on him to prove anything. To me hes a wildcard.

I've seen a small amount of film on him and he really seems to stick like glue to his man, and it looks so incredibly effortless, however he is smaller and I've seen no evidence of ball skills yet, and from the sounds of it he is raw since he's a sophomore who had mental lapses in big moments as a freshman. The raving reviews of his character and work ethic and film study relieve those concerns a bit. If he turns out to have those ball skills then he could be a real steal at the bottom of the first, he's a guy I'm hoping is on the radar as a trade up candidate assuming his stock stays where it's at now.

Everything I've seen is suggesting top 15 because, like you said, phenomenal work ethic and he's a freak athlete. He's really exploded onto the scene this year and he's, what, 20? He's going to have a lot of time to grow and learn, but he's got character and athleticism that you simply cannot teach. I'd like him as a trade back candidate.

I love high character, highly driven prospects who want to win and are determined to succeed. I think that's the most important quality in anything. From what I read he certainly shows effort.

Ogdah is a legitimate top 10 draft pick in my book. He is probably the best pure pass rusher in the draft and has athleticism to match.

that's what really pushes ogbah into serious contention for our top pick. Ive looked into McKenzie a bit as well and I really hope he falls and w consider a trade up, he looks like a poor man's hargreaves with his great ankles and hips and outstanding reaction time and closing speed. This character and work ethic I've heard so much about makes me really want this guy, if he has ball skills then he could turn out jyst as good as hargreaves

Like I've been saying, I don't see a trade up from the second happening so much as a trade back in the first. Secure an extra second or a future first, snag him around 12-14, and then trade up and grab Boyd in the first to ensure his fifth year option.

Boom, two young talented players at two positions of need.

Well Calhoun had a great game the other day against Iowa, I am not sure if he will be a mid first or a mid 2nd type guy. I think the Playoffs is going to really help define his stock. I normally am not a big fan of him as I think he is tight and lumbery like but I was surprised how well he ate up ground off the snap with his steps (even though it does not look the fastest or most fluid)

I don't think he was fast with his first-step as much as he's just exceptionally gifted at timing snaps. He's really good at it. That may be enough, honestly. Timing snaps is an important aspect to rushing the passer, although a quick first-step would also do wonders.

dumervil is good at timing snaps but when a player relies on that we see many offsides, which we have seen with dumervil this year. He has to over compensate knowing he's the only good pass rusher and that pressure leads to early jumps too often, I'd rather get a guy who has a good balance of timing and jump, instead of A guy who relies on one of those
