Orioles Off-Season 2015-2016

I read the Orioles found something they did not like during Gallardo's physical and the deal is on hold. It actually worked out in the Orioles favor the last time with Balfour, when the doctors found something in his physical they did not like. Since I was critical the last time we backed out of a contract because of a physical, this time I will not question them.

If the deal for Gallardo falls through because of the physical, now that we signed Fowler, do the Cubs then get our first draft pick that we were going to give to the Rangers?

What about his Arm?

His arm strength did decrease last season but he got on base all the time and was a strong presence in the clubhouse. To say "how badly" he played and that "he doesn't have it anymore" is ridiculous.

And yay on the Fowler signing! :)

And no decision expected today, either.  Must be something potentially serious.

Gallardo contract done with some tweeks.  According to Roch: "Lots of confusion on $$ in new Gallardo deal. It's $20 million over next 2 seasons and then $2 mil buyout or $13 mil club option. #orioles"

I am a little worried because we really need starting pitching. I thought Gallardo could be a decent replacement for Chen. The Orioles are serious about their medical exams, which is not is a bad thing, but since Gallardo was the best free agent pitcher left - we probably are not going to get a replacement for Chen that is equal or better if we opt out on Gallardo, considering who is left in free agency.

Well it looks like we restructured things with Gallardo and the deal is finally done. Instead of 3 years at 35 million, they agreed to two years at 20 million with the team option for a third year for a total of 33 million. Considering a potential health problem, this seems like a fair deal to me.

Plus a $2M buyout for that third year.  So essentially, 2/$22M or 3/$33M.  $11M per ain't bad.

Why not Tim Lincecum?

Did we or did we not have a deal with the guy? Somebody has to explain this one to me. I am willing to bet we dragged our feet and got burned.....I am beyond upset right now.

I should know to not get excited over the Orioles. They may be losing out on Gallardo and Fowler. Of course.

Only Fowler who backed out of the deal.  Gallardo is in uniform and practicing today.

He passed that physical? I was reading the MRI didn't turn up anything unusual for a pitcher, but I wasn't sure.

Pretty heart broken about Fowler backing out. Our line up would have been in great shape.

Why would he leave money on the table with our offer?

He wanted an opt-out so he took a one year deal in Chicago.

Just hope he plays better than Nick Markakis. Im not expecting home runs. But that fine if he whacks em out. But importaint thing to do is just get on base. like high OBP and OPS. Just get on base and hit the ball. The thing i want Buck Showalter to do get Fowler in those batting cages. And keep working on hitting

I read that, but I don't think the Orioles would have put out two days ago we had a deal without it coming out yesterday through his agent that it was false. He left the potential of a lot of money on the table. If it was me I would have taken the 3 year 35 million instead of risking a major injury and only receiving the 8 million. That could be a 27 million swing. In any regard, I am really upset and bummed. He was the missing piece to a really good lineup and excellent fielding. There is no one else on the free agent market that could fill that void anywhere close to what Fowler would have done.

I know I shouldn't, but I'm going to reply anyway.

1.  Dexter Fowler signed with the Cubs today.

2.  You say you want a guy that has a high OBP and OPS, yet strike down Markakis.  That's exactly what Markakis was.

Dexter Fowler’s agent, Casey Close, is upset with the Orioles and the media over erroneous report

Update (6:52 PM EST): Orioles executive vice president of baseball Operations Dan Duquette responded. Per Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun:

http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/02/25/dexter-fowlers-agent-casey-close-is-upset-with-the-orioles-and-the-media-over-erroneous-report/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs

This exactly what i meant by the Media and press guys in Baltimore. Now i can see why the Colts left baltimore. For years i was blaming John Steadman for getting on Bob Irsays back. When John Steadmann wrote about Resigning Curtis Dickey back in 1983 and he kept on begging Irsay to resign him. Then Irsay gave him a new contract and he knew he shouldn't have. You see Steadmann manipulated Irsay. Bob Irsay felt like he was the goat. Then he had enough with Baltimore's press so he called his lawyer Michael Chernoff to answer all the questions to the press. He told Chernoff were leaving to Indianapolis. Remember these scenes?

 hqdefault.jpg60908188.jpg

Remember that? Or some of you people weren't around back in 1984. I remember the events very well. When Channel 2 interrupted a special report about Bob Irsay was in Phoenix. There was rumors he might move the Colts to Phoenix. Then came to that Airport scene and he said he wasn't moving the team. The Press kept giving him hell Bob Irsay said he was there because Frank Kush want him to meet his family his friends and the people from Arizona State. Then week later the reports follow Irsay to Las Vegas,Then a month later during the Super Bowl there was rumors Irsay was talking to Indianapolis mayor. Then they followed Irsay to Chicago. This is the crap Baltimore press guys do. They act like a bunch crackheads like Mike Wallace does on 60 minutes. And they were up their old tricks again wonder if the O's were going to sign Dexter Fowler. They also wouldn't leave Chris Davis alone during that time they were going to resign him. But Chris Davis understands how the Baltimore media is so he puts up with them. Ill even bet you if John Steadmann was alive today Mr Angelos would ban him from Camden Yards. If i was the owner id make things plan n simple rules for the press to follow. If they cant follow my rules they wouldn't be allow inside. And Id ban John Steadmann ill give him a warning. Id tell him if he's within 50 feet of Camden yards ill have him arrested.

I do not believe Fowler's agent. He could have told everyone that there was no deal two days ago but said nothing. I also do not believe Adam Jones is lying when he said that Fowler told him he was excited to be joining the team. Something seems shady to me on their end, not the O's. It just goes to show you agreements do not mean anything, but it is what it is. I am bummed but I guess I will get over it.
