14th overall pick, but our chances of actually developing that prospect are slim lol

Considering the way we have developed our pitching, this is true lol

I know that giving up a top prospect is tough and three years from now it could be a regret, but I really feel this team could be a playoff team with Gallardo right now. He can eat up several innings and we really need another starting pitcher badly and IMHO Gallardo is the best one left. I will be a happy camper if we sign him.

I was so excited about Bundy, who looked so promising, but I don't think our system handled him well.

Thanks Mod 3. Lets hope so this is true. Jays are not a threat like they used to be. But we should work on how to beat Boston now. Theyre loaded!

I have been reading some articles that suggest Gallardo wants an opt-out clause. His agent says the ball is in the O's court if they want him, but I think we may have taken a step back to think about things if we are giving up our top draft pick and an opt-out clause is attached to the deal. I would give up the pick to sign Gallardo at a fair price, but if an opt-out clause is attached to the deal, than I am not sure if giving up our top pick would be worth the risk.

I'm personally not big on the Gallardo signing. I know innings eater but I'm hearing he now depends more on his control than anything overpowering which concerns me. We need a left hander!!! It might not be the best but we have to start seeing if the young talent can emerge and lock up at least one spot in the rotation. I do believe Tillman and Gonzalez can bounce back and I know we're thin after that but right now is the best chance in a long time to put some better talent in our minor leagues and Id rather get a pitcher that's not gonna cost us a draft pick. Is there any decent left handers out there or should we give Matusz a shot?

I got a question for O's fans. Should they have a new starting time for Saturday and Sunday games? I like games start at 1:10. Some fans love day games. And make them 27 Game pack whack includes opening day. And Night games Start 7:40 Just like some National league teams used to do.

If we can sign Dexter Fowler and Gallardo and can stay healthy, IMHO the O's could make some noise this season. Fowler is the lead-off man we need and would seriously upgrade our OF due to his range. After losing Cruz and Miller last year and being so bummed, I would be super excited this year with these possible new additions. Go O's!!!!!!!

Been told that O's dont have a chance this year. Time to throw in the towel.

Just kidding, my gf and i are coming down to hopefully the first Saturday night game against the Rays. As long as its not sold out....

It seems like free agents are starting to say, "Ok, I'd be willing to go to Baltimore."  Maybe we are starting to shed our bad image. Things could start looking up for the O's this season, we actually retained our core players (except for Chen) and are still looking to sign some free agent upgrades to boot. Enjoy the game brother, because I have faith that we will be fielding a good team.

The "O's are getting close to signing Gallardo and Fowler" talk is getting old. Sign them already.

I'm in the same boat. Been hearing this for awhile now. Im glad at least we are showing interest in players unlike other off seasons.

By the way. Im all aboard the Hyun Soo Kim fan club. I liked this signing in Jan. I think it was a under rated signing, I think he could even be a dark horse for out defense. I'm rooting for this guy, he seems to fit the personality of the club house as well.

True, last off season was terrible.

I like Hyun Soon Kim also and I'm very hopeful and I really hope you are right about him.:)

Gallardo signing, I believe, is three years/$35M with a fourth year team option (which is nice).

Dexter Fowler is being talked at as 2 years/$24M and that's almost a guarantee.

Seeing that, too.  Official story on Gallardo signing can be found here

Also found this interesting since we're always calling Angelos cheap: A 3-yr, $35M deal for Gallardo would bring O's FA spending for the winter to a total of $249.8M.

I think he knows he's like 87 and on his last leg (Angelos)

Not a bad price on either.  I can surely accept both at that price.

Most of all, I'm just glad to see the O's spending.  Chen is the only one of the big names that got away.  I think we'll miss him more than we realize, but it's actually been a pretty good offseason.

Chen was always solid. Nothing solid, but he could at least be leaned upon. I'm just glad they've landed someone who has a mastery of his control, especially after all the pitchers had am ERA over 4.00 except one

Think we are still going to need to get a pitcher at the trade deadline but overall it has been a solid offseason. If the bats can do what they are capable of, the lineup should be a lot of fun.

Now Mr Angelos spent his money. Will you people now stop blaming him? If anybody is going to be blamed thats Buck Showalter  if they don't go to the World Series

I can blame Angelos for not resigning Markakis and Cruz when we had a golden opportunity to repeat our success from 2014. Losing both of them hurt. That is not on Buck.

Well Markakis doesn't have it anymore. You saw just how badly he played in Atlanta. So he must done something right. Cruz in the only mishap time to move on. So i think we should sign one more pitcher. Thats Tim Lincecum.

Oh yes, he hit .296 (better than any Oriole last season) and made one error in the field, how terrible! <_<

IMHO, Buck does well with the cards he is given. He may have even made it to the Series a few years ago if we did not have all the injuries and maybe the suspension. The players seem to respect him and he seems to be able to keep the players in a good harmony so that we do not have some of the stupid stuff going on that some of the other teams have had, so I will give him credit for that. I have a feeling that the players get to see another side to him that we fans do not. To me, he seems really careful about what he says and does in front of the camera.
