I believe in Buck Allen

I'm not so sure that buck is going to be a star. I'd say he's a C+ back right now, which is certainly good. Time will tell though.

Thats what people need to remember.  I like the potential...

That is hilarious. Another year in the weight room? How does that help a running backs speed and quickness to the next level. You saw what happened to Ray Rice after another year in the weight room. Allen is just not that good plain and simple. He is not the next Matt Forte. I understand wanting a spark for this team but not on the shoulders of Buck Allen. Watch what happens when he plays against a real defensive team like the Seahawks. I can tell you for sure. Less that 50 yards from scrimmage for him and that's being kind. I can absolutely guarantee that prediction!

You're implying that running backs don't spend time in the weight room for fear of gaining weight.

I'm not implying anything. I'm stating a year in the weight room is not going to help Buck Allen. Period!! Point Blank

All of Buck's plays from last week

Thanks for posting the video, thats the first time i really got to see all his plays.  Im still excited to see him develope but i didnt see a lot of play making ability outside that one TD catch imo.  He seems to look for contact instead of making a move to elude the tackler, doesnt seem to have much side to side speed but looks to be a strong forward runner.  Dont know if that makes much sense but thats what i got from his tape.

On that touchdown he showed he can make impressive cuts in the open field. He doesn't appear to have long speed, but makes arguably better cuts than Forsett does. He seems to have good vision and good power. We have ourselves a keeper because at worst he's going to be a dangerous third down RB

I see potential here

I had that same observation, he's more quick than he is fast but for his running style it works. Is he ever going to be Arian Foster? Probably not. That's hardly a slight against Buck because I think Foster is a top 3 RB when he's healthy, Buck doesn't quite have Foster's creativity and elusiveness taking on defenders but they are very similar in their use of the jump-cut and just their overall build and running style.

Why I'm so excited about Buck is more so about how he fits the Kubiak zone blocking scheme, his ability to catch the ball and be a factor in the receiving game combined with his uphill, one-cut running style is an ideal fit. I'm sure that's a big reason why Ozzie/Eric targeted him in the first place.

I'm not seeing the forte comparison as much other than hes a receiving back. He reminds me more of a poor man's roger craig. They both stand straight up and tend to bounce around until they find their hole. It took Craig about a year to fine tune his running style to the NFL. Here is to hoping the same will be said for buck.

I agree with the potential.  I think him in our system is what the key is, not saying i dont like him or anything, still havent seen enough.  That one TD catch showed he does have some elusive skills but when he runs i think he just seems like a straight ahead guy, a north and south if you will.  For our system with Trestman he could be work out perfect for us.  I think he will suffice for us for sure, but i dont expect a top 5 guy in the leauge

If you watch them side by side you can definitely see a resemblance. Roger was better at it at this point because Buck is only a rookie, but time will tell.

Where is this coming from. Allen had a decent game against a crummy defensive team in the Dolphins and an average game against a horrible Browns team. A runner like AP would have had 200 yards against the Browns. Are you serious with Terrence West? That guy is a joke at running back and always has been. A grand total of 792 yards in his career? He has more fumbles than touchdowns. Come on Man :34853_brickwall:

Firstly, I'm not sure why you put AP in the mix.  no one even put him in that category so try not to use extreme examples to make an arguement.  Allen has shown great improvement in terms of body control, tenacity and vision.  He's not Matt Forte yet, but I see thepotential in him, especially in a Trestman run offense.  He has all the outward traits of Forte anda similar offense to prove himself in.  Could he fail?  Maybe, but I'm not seeing any quitin him and only improvement to this point.

Further West amassed those stats mostly in 3 RB committees.  Jeff Fisher is a dolt of a coach and the game has passed him by.  Cleveland is a cesspool and can never capitalize on the advances it makes.  They fall flat on their butts either by the end of the season or by the start of the next.  Both Rams and Browns have been the death of the careers of many top draft picks so I wouldn't measure West by these standards.  At least here in Bmore we'll see what his best is.

You will see Sunday very clearly how wrong you are about Buck Allen. Again you are basing your assessment on the fact that he had a couple good games against the 2 worst defensive teams in the league.. Him and Terrence West combined will not total 50 yards from scrimmage. Combined!

Haha I'm not saying Bucks the future. I like him and he's got potential, but he has had a lot of no gains.

However for you to tell people to wait and see for Sunday is quite cheap on your part. A riddled oline against the #1 rush defense in the NFL that held AP to 18 yards. Again I understand you skepticism, but I don't think this coming week would be fair to judge him on if he doesn't produce very much.

that's not really accurate, going to the weight room doesn't mean he wants to put on more muscle.

There are other forms of weight training meant to help with explosion.

I assume my previous reply was removed due to wagering and what not but I would be absolutely stunned if they didn't put up a combined 50 yards from scrimmage.

Yes and muscle maturity, muscular endurance, muscular strength etc... weight training isn't just for hypertrophy.

It's ok to be stunned. As i said in another post , we won't put up 150 total net yards tomorrow.

But man Clausen is hard to watch.

That guy is and always will be a loser. But hey we gotta put somebody up there. Where is Ryan Leaf when you need him.

I thought your guy Buck Allen looked like a complete buffoon -- he had a Mark Sanchez butt-fumble and ran for 14 yards. What a stud.

No need to even mention Terrence West. The good news is we moved up 2 places in the draft! :baltimore-ravens:

well he definitely didn't have a great game but when you "absolutely guarantee" your predictions we gotta hold you to them. He netted 58 total yards. your fired! Lol nah but seriously we couldn't expect a rookie to do that well against a defense like Seattle, he is still a work in progress and he will be big for us next year. Like I said before it definitely would be unwise to move on from forsett next season but one more year for buck behind him/ splitting reps and he will be ready to carry the load in 2017. Allen is not dynamic

I have no idea what we are gonna do.

I actually think you are serious and it would be awesome if Allen had those kind of skills but he is not a naturally gifted runner. He has got some out of the backfield receiving talent I will give you that but to build a running game around him? Not gonna happen!

That's an excellent observation of Buck Allen.

We definitely are a team with a huge lack of talent and based on our salary cap issues it's something we can't fix in a year. Our team is in some long - term trouble.
