I believe in Buck Allen

120 posts in this topic

Who else thinks this kid is our next starting RB going into the future? Was a big fan of his going into the draft, he reminded me a lot of Arian Foster with his vision, patience, and ability to make one cut and go.

Was really disappointed when people were trashing him in preseason, it's like they couldn't recognize poor OL play and instead shifted the blame onto Buck as it was somehow his fault that he couldn't run through non-existent lanes. The fumble was the only thing that was his fault and that seems to be a necessary growing pain for any rookie RB.

Sad to see Forsett go down but this is a tremendous opportunity for Buck, it will no doubt accelerate the learning process for him to get these starters reps for the rest of the season. Against Cleveland you started to see the game slowing down for him and his confidence growing despite playing behind yet another make-shift OL.

While Forsett may still have a rightful claim to the starting job going into next season I expect a strong surge from Buck and he may just take this starting job and never look back if he can create some momentum for himself in these final 5 games.

I'm all up for the young guy getting a chance and seeing what he has. I haven't seen enough of him to say much. From what I have seen, I don't get very excited about it... Just want more tape

I think what's hard to get excited about has been the OL, if you watch what Buck does with just the small creases he's given it's pretty impressive for a rookie. Buck has only had a handful of solid running lanes created for him all year and one of them he broke off for a 44 yd run which is bigger than anything Forsett has generated in double the attempts this year.

Forsett has 2 TD's total in 10 games started this year, Buck found his way into the endzone in his first game as the starter. Small sample size, I definitely agree there, but as the thread states I believe in Buck Allen, I think he's coming for that starting job full time in 2016.

Buck Allen is the future in my opinion!! I said back in preseason he was the ravens best draft pick. I expect him to be the unquestioned #1 going into next season. It will not even be close!! If Ravens somehow land Tunsil the best player in the draft, 2000 all purpose yards is very realistic.

Backs are not usually effective for long nowadays. Forsette still has time to shine but Buck is next.

Too early for me to say.  I like Buck this season, but I also liked Pierce in 2012.  The o-line took the blame for Pierce in 2013 and he proved to still not be good in 2014 while Forsett played great behind the same line.

Personally, I think if Allen and West continue playing like they did Monday then Forsett is gone next year.  Just too early to tell if that will be a good thing or not

i liked buck allen in the draft, he looked very pro ready and versatile to me. ive believe in him from day one and have been waiting for him to get his chance, and im glad to see him running away*no pun intended* with his chance.

the part that gives me extreme faith, is his scheme diversity and the fact that as a 3rd down back in college he was excellent, good hands and awareness to know when to roll out and where to sit for the dumpoff, and he just has a natural feel for when to protect and when to break off, that is a big teller between a feature back and a bust. buck allen was a steal and anyone who followed him through the draft process knew it.

however, runningbacks are typically very dependent, and they are a very spiky position by nature. so while hes doing well now we need to be ready to NOT jump ship on him when he has his down days.

I called him as a good RB in the draft process and liked him a lot, although I did like Coleman a ton. Needless to say I love Allen.

When Buck Allen was born I knew he was destined to become a star RB for the Ravens. :-)

Seriously though, I don't think we've seen enough of Buck to say that he will be The Man moving forward. Sure hope so though!

Didn't care which RB we got in the draft as long as we got one. It was definitely a good start for him as the starter @ CLE and I'm very happy with what I'm seeing. I just like to see more.

Coleman would be a beast if he could just hold on to the ball...

Buck looks nice for a rookie. Expect him to only get better and become a complete back

You are a better man  than me, then! That's damn impressive! Stickers all around for your effort!

Well I also thought Pierce was going to be our future back after his stellar rookie campaign and then he turned into a dud.  So I will reserve judgement.

Allen looked good. It was the Browns defense though so we will see what happens the rest of the way

Browns defense minus Randy Starks

I like Buck and I think he'll have real value as a three down back, but to say the offensive line wasn't making holes is false. Those holes were big enough for me to run through. They were gaping

I like buck im exited to see him get a lot of playing time despite very unfortunate circumstances, he does have some question marks I think by the end of the season we should get a good idea of him, because RB is one of the few positions where a lot of guys can come in and produce immediately, that all said I dont think that I would pass on drafting a good running back if he was dropped in our laps, I'd be happy if we could get Ezekiel Elliot at the top of the second round.

The fact that he's gotten thrown into the starting role definitely will accelerate his growth and will bode well for next year where he may just be our number 1. He's done very well even behind poor o line play. And his pass catching skills really intrigue me.

Making an analysis from Browns game is probably a bad idea.

im waiting to see how he performs when he goes against:

Tougher front D

There is no passing game

Opponent figures out allens rythm

Maybe last game vs Bengals

I've always liked Forsett but without Kubiak his play has fallen way off.  He's more of a system player who excells in certain types, but not in others.  I hope he sticks around, but he will become expendable next season as his cap vs dead money constitutes a $2.3M cap savings if cut.

From what I've seen so far Allen and West are looking good without Forsett.  Will that last?  We'll know by the end of the seasson.  I don't expect the team to cut Forsett, but the younger guys are the future.

I said Buck Allen was our best draft pick back in June and even during preseason. Buck and West will be quite a formidable duo!! Forsett will be cut. If Ravens keep Osemele and land Tunsil or any good Tackle, Buck Allen will likely hit 2000 all purpose yards unless West keeps his touches down. Buck and TW are very good runners!! I like Buck Allen more than I liked Ray Rice. Don't forget TW, he is explosive and shifty for a 240lb runner!! I do really like Forsett. The ravens would keep him as the #3 runner if not so tight against the salary cap. The ravens are really set at running back!!

I love Buck and for whatever reason his running style is why teams stayed away from him. Yes, he stands straight up, but he knows exactly when to lower his pad level. Our win everyone else's loss.

He's like a faster Ray Rice, they pay almost exactly the same, Bucks a much better blocker however. If he can get in a running rhythm he'll be in the pro bowl next season(if our O-line isn't trash of course).

I still don't think forsett will be cut. What happens when buck goes down in week 3 and has to be put on IR? Nah we need to keep him and we will truly have a 3 headed monster next season.

Pierce was not as impressive as buck. BP had one talent, getting around the edge. Buck is looking like Ray Rice. He and west will be an incredible 1-2 punch going forward
