Week 13 Discussion (Other NFL Teams)

We lost bad Ravens fans, but we didn't lose that bad!

The loss to Jacksonville? It was the same exact thing. Dumervil stupidly grabbed Bortles face mask and Devin Taylor did the same thing giving them the chance to get the Hail Mary TD.

Unreal how this season is just so unpredictable.

Are you a Lions fan or just don't like Rodgers?

I don't like his smug attitude but I also don't like officials deciding games

With the Lions officially eliminated from playoff contention, does Caldwell get fired tomorrow?

Dang Lions just had to blow that. Now more competition for a low draft pick.

The Lions have been playing pretty well for the most part. They'll find a few more wins.

How in the hell, if you are the Lions, do you not have Calvin Johnson in the end zone on a hailmary?! Every single one of their guys they had in were short.

So sick of the refs, what a pathetic face mask call.

That's not on the officials. Blame Devin Taylor who should have known better then to grab the face mask when trying to sack Rodgers to win the game.

So the Lions only fired their entire offensive staff right? After going up 20-0 and giving away that huge lead, does their defensive staff get fired tomorrow?

He meant that a 53 yard FG is significantly more routine than allowing a 61 yard Hail Mary. Truth be told, it's a factual statement. The last comprehensive analysis on the matter that I can recall pegged the chances of the occurrence at roughly 1% in a relatively recent study of a 10-year sample. Given that the NFL average of converted kicks from 50+ yard is 63%, or statistically speaking 63 times more likely in comparison, I'd agree with the sentiment. This loss was even worse than ours.

If this was us giving up a 25 point lead, these boards would crash.

It's time for a game.... Who Did It Better? Last week the Browns fans showed their disgust as Brent Urban blocked the game winning FG and watched Will Hill return it for the game winning TD. Tonight, Lions fans(only video I have seen so far released) reacting to that Hail Mary catch....

He didn't grab the facemask though. You could certainly argue he made contact with it, but it's a crap call at the end of the game.

The Browns fan who started walking away out of the stadium the second Hill picks up the ball and starts running is still the king.

The best way to put this.........

The NFL finally made it up to the Packers 3 years later after the Fail Mary play.

And that right there sums this whole thing up

The NFL rules say that if the face mask is grasped, but immediately released, then there should be no penalty called.

Taylor's finger grazes the face mask and Rodgers sold it better than anyone to get a call, even though his momentum likely would have carried his head that way, anyway.

Just a terrible call by the officials. Dean Blandino tried to defend it, but even he didn't know the rule, apparently.

I think the thing that bothers me the most, though, is the referee clearly threw the flag without actually seeing what had happened. He obviously was inferring that the face mask must have been grabbed with how Rodgers head moved, but he didn't know that for certain, which is one of the worst things that can happen. A referee throws a crucial flag on one of the final plays of the game when he isn't even certain that a penalty took place.

I think the NFL needs to make personal fouls reviewable. It's disgusting for these penalties to be called incorrectly so often when they are 15 yards, a free first down, and often momentum killers.
