[News] Ravens Work Out Quarterback Ryan Mallett

53 posts in this topic

Guy quit on his team in Houston after getting benched. That, coupled with his history of drug problems, means Mallet should not be in the NFL.

Well........Schaub nor Clausen has a prayer of finishing undefeated.

Doubt Mallet can pick up the playbook quick enough, but he'd have the best shot at getting us to 9-7

Sounds like this may be a message for Schaub, John said he wanted the turnovers to stop. If he keeps turning the ball over we're definitely not going to win very many games especially playing better teams.

I would rather see us bring Bryn Renner back. The kid showed some promise in pre-season, he wouldn't cost us much and at least he didn't miss any flights or practices.

We're gonna bench schaub right before he hits the 10% of snaps mark so we can avoid paying him the 1 mil. Lol

man, that would be cruel lol

I pray that we are not desperate enough to sign Ryan Mallet. He is a punk and would not fit in with the Ravens. Please, don't do this, Ozzie.

I think Mallett is a great insurance policy for the Baltimore Ravens. He has the potential to be a top tier QB having backed Brady for 3 yrs. He would be a perfect aackup for Joe Flacco next year. If Flacco doesn't come back fully healthy to start the season, Mallett would be the perfect back up if he fulfills his potential. In fact, if he does we'll have no QB problems beyond 2016 as well.

I think the anticipate Schaub playing himself back into a starting role pricing himself out of Baltimore... Mallet is more in the mold of Flacco in terms of arm strength... doubt they are planning on benching Schaub he actually gives us the best chance of winning going forward as he has the best chemistry with the WRs

The main reason we'd entertain the possibilty of Mallett in spite of his recent issues in Houston is the constant underthrowing of passes to our speed WRs who are managing to get behind coverage. For some reason Joe's technique (backfoot passing) regressed this year and Schaub's interception issues are significantly impacted by his throwing power (or lack thereof). Everyone saw how hard Givens worked to beat coverage time in and time out only to be underthrown by Joe and in Cleveland, Matt.

With Mallet's frame and arm strength the deep game with Givens and Clay's straightline speed can be reintroduced as a signifcant threat.

THis seems to have more to do with 2016 then 2015. I think he is an insurance policy if flacco isn't on pace for healing. I also believe that Mallet would be an insurance policy if Joe is / or his agent in unwilling to work on that big cap hit? (or at least some persuasion)!

Once again the Ravens do not let a QB get comfortable at the QB position! Smh I want Matt to finish the season winning! I feel my hater will have something to say about my post as usual! Switching QBs is like scrapping the season when they say they aren't! If Joe started against the Browns he wouldn't have gotten off the one yard line would have trotted off the field shrugging his shoulders complaining about more time and all kind of excuses! I said it watch my hater react he's waiting! Let Matt finish the season or its a wrap and basketball season is on and poppin!

Um.....DId you just say matt schaub is better than joe flacco and joe flacco makes excuses? Joe doesn't need to make excuses nor does he make them. He takes accountability for his play, And no offense but this supporting cast is down to its 2nd or 3rd string everything except TE. There's only so much you can overcome, Joe wasn't exactly dominanting but he's still a way better option than schaub get your knowledge right man.

No. god no mallet is a joke of a QB The mental part of his game is awful and he's a horrible teammate. Sure he has ARM STRENGTH AND "OMG HE BACKED UP BRADY" he's flamed out already we don't need a locker room plague like mallet.

Did you see the game on Monday?  What part of Schaub's play makes you think he will play himself into a starting roll?  I mean I think he's a great back up and all but a team would have to really be desperate to play him as a starter

Its sad that Shuab gets countless weeks to chill and build patience to play the QB position for us, he even had a full week to prepare, and he still went out and threw pointless INT's. Joe I can understand, he's started every game since we drafted him. Cant believe how shaky Shaub is

Ryan Mallett does not play like a Raven, he has always been overly entitled and self-interested. What kind of grown man "misses his teams flight" or "sleeps through his alarm clock" coincidentally following days he gets bad news? What kind of teammate transfers from his college team when he learns he won't be a full-time starter? He may have a strong arm but he makes many mistakes on the field, a QB rating of 67.6 is a joke, and he was unceremoniously dumped by one of the most QB needy teams in the entire NFL. We don't need this distraction in the locker room, I'd rather have Kyle Boller again.

Insulted that we would even workout this clown. He skipped practice the day after Hoyer got the job in camp and he basically rooted against his own team when Hoyer was the starter and wanted him to fail so he could get the job back. Total selfish player, doesn't care about the team, 100% in it for himself and he turns on everyone when things don't go his way.

There aren't many players in the NFL I dislike more than Mallett for how he treated the Texans this year, it would be a sad day if he dawned the purple and black. This man is not a Raven, he is the antithesis of everything this team stands for.

"Potential to be a top tier QB" LOL that's a joke right? He couldn't even beat out Brian Hoyer for a starting job playing with the exact same players. Clearly was the weak link between 2 mediocre QB's. Are you aware of the crap that Mallett pulled this year? There's a reason the Texans cut him, he's an unprofessional, marginally talented, self-absorbed clown.

Like I said in my previous post, he is literally the antithesis of what this organization stands for, on top of his GLARING character issues he's not even that talented. Your post is pure hyperbole, we signed Jimmy Clausen for crying out loud, we are scraping the bottom of the barrel for stop gaps at QB to get us through the season.

Mallet is worse than Clausen. He's the epitome of the "idiot quarterback". He might have the physical traits of Flacco, but he's no Flacco. He's not even Schaub.

I think I'd prefer Tim Tebow over Mallet at this point.

Schaub threw pointless interceptions on Monday. I don't recall Joe ever throwing "pointless " interceptions or missing open receivers.
