[News] Late For Work 12/2: Time To Acknowledge John Harbaugh Doing Fantastic Job

Jernigan definitely cracked McCown, but I think it was the extra push by Upshaw that caused that momentum which broke McCown's collar bone.

Good eye! I just posted a similar comment before I read yours. Upshaw is a heavy handed dude!

Hmm, accused of being a Patriot fan? Not even close. While I may have a grudging respect for Bill Belichick, I wouldn't care if whiner Tom Brady and his crew never won another game. The playoff wins against them were almost as satisfying as the Super Bowl wins. And the playoff losses were devastating, especially last year when I thought we were clearly the better team. To not be able to make a defensive adjustment falls as much on Harbaugh as it does on Dean Pees. I love our players. I just don't think they are being properly served by their head coach. You know, the same guy who the players rebelled against during the last Super Bowl year? Or is your "hall of famer" memory a little lapse? I'm not saying the guy can't coach, but he needs to evolve some. Our last coach famously said the the shelf life of an NFL coach was about 7 years, then his message got stale. Here we are in year 8. Like I said, change the message or change the coach.

 patov40,

The only thing lacking in brilliance are your comments buddy. In one sentence you've come to realize that our hopes of a playoff run is over "Due To Injuries". Then in the next you turn it around and blast John as the reason our 2nd, 3rd and 4th string players aren't in the playoffs?! You obviously haven't noticed that we practically have a whole new team on the field that lacks playing time together. Ever heard of Chemistry? Gotta have that in order to properly "Execute" the plays that the coaches have trained them for! And they've lost the leaders that coordinate them on the field of play with the likes of Suggs injuries. John can't catch the ball that hits them in the hands that they've dropped, nor can he make the tackles that they've missed, which accounts for 9/10ths of our losses. But John can seize the moment to work/ break in new players that haven't had a chance and he's been doing a great job with that!! But, until they gain the necessary chemistry, it's gonna look like a hot mess. LoL

So, if you only see darkness and think they stink, it's most likely you've got your head stuck in the wrong place! If you pull you head out and look up, you'll see the Brilliance! Great teams are built on the Positives! Losers Dwell on the negatives!

These are grown men embarrassed from an ugly season, they never stopped believing. Is it fair to credit Harbaugh for that or to credit the players for wanting more than an ugly season. I give the belief credit to the players for wanting more than a butt ugly season.

1. Yeah the fan generated "mutiny" thing never actually happened. That's a myth.

2. Never been a big buyer of the "the head coach should have a message" theory, because it never passed the smell test to me.

You sort of unknowingly already acknowledged that the "message" is not really relevant by providing Belichick as an example. What is Belichick"s "message"? His message is literally the most simple thing you can tell any employee of any company ever... do your job. That's his message. Its been the exact same message for about 15 years now, and it never once got stale. Why didn't it get stale? Because it applies 100% of the time.

If any HC has a message different than that, its useless. A HC's job isn't to send the team a "message". I've never even bought that his job was to motivate grown men who get paid millions to perform well at their job, because that never passed the smell test either.
