OTHER potential first round picks

I've been begging to get Jack since last year, and the idea of getting him would make me jump like Forsett after the win. He wasn't asked to rush the passer at UCLA so we're not sure how effective he could be at rushing the passer. He has the athleticism and football IQ to excel, but it's an unknown whereas a guy like Ogbah we know can rush.

I love Myles Jack and he's my guy and all. I would love to have him here. That said, I think it's very unlikely he plays 3-4 OLB for us. He's just not built like that, IMO. That would be like asking, I dunno, Mosley to be a 3-4 OLB. He could probably be a good pass rusher up the A, but I don't really want to rely on A-gap pressure to generate consistent pressure.

Exactly. I think Jack is going to be a stud where ever he goes, but us drafting two ILB in the first round in three years is a luxury pick. I think the only way we can think about him is as a trade back guy

Can't start a topic so I'll lead on this. With the remaining schedule I see the Ravens picking in the 4-6 range. If hargreaves is gone by our pick I hope we trade back (depending on how low our pick is) to the early to late teens for the 1st this year and next, along with 2nd for this year.

1st round: Ogbah

2nd round: Jayron Kearse

2nd round: Josh Doctson

3rd round: Sterling Shepard

Myles Jack and C.J. Mosley would make for a very good ILB corps and would compliment each other very well. Same with Jaylon Smith.

Carl Lawson is REALLY good. Is he the one with the injury problem?

I wouldn't really call it an injury problem perse but he did tear his acl and missed a substantial number of games with a hip injury. Those are his only injuries. Edited by The Oakland Cathedral

WalterFootball has us picking at 9 today selecting Treadwell. Would definitely be excited about him, Breshad and our young group of TE's. If we take another first round WR this season, Ozzie needs to hit a home run on the defensive side in free agency.

Walter football is weird right now.before the update they had ogbah at 6th, and he really fell in just 1 week. I just don't see us taking treadwell over ogbah, I'd probably feel bittersweet about that too, because I like treadwell but I don't think his ceiling is high enough to take him that high and I think ogbah could be the next special player on our defense

I like them both as well, I am a bit hesitant with them however after Arthur Brown

What does Brown have anything to do with Smith or Jack?

Maybe not as much Jack, but Smith is another guy that seems to be a much better fit for a 4-3 alignment.

stud 4-3 OLBs who are lightning fast but very undersized, converting to play 3-4 ILB in a system that is not friendly to undersized linebackers.. Arthur Brown wasn't the same caliber of player but he was viewed in the same light and was supposed too be a total stud

A trade back seems like a strong possibility because I know Steve is pounding the table for a edge rusher and I think Ozzie still wants a db, but after vh3 and bosa the value gets questionable, ogbah could be a target but it depends on how Ozzie ranks him. So if we trade back I think it becomes more of a game plan than one pick. Carl Lawson looks like a prototype ravens olb, I think he could be a trade back target, along with Mackenzie alexander or maybe Kearse as trade up targets as part of our master plan.

Carl Lawson could end up top15, or better!! Can't coach that kind of explosion, bend and speed to power!! I like Lawson as much as Bosa. He is slightly more explosive than Dee Ford. A player that in my opinion will be a double digit sack producer once starting next year after the chiefs lose their aging starter to free agency. Zach Brown in free agency and Carl Lawson would inject some serious speed and explosion into ravens LBs and rush. However Tunsil is the player I would like to see drafted more than any other player in the draft by a landslide. I am not quite on the Ogbah wagon yet. I have not watched him much but I do not see anything yet that really stands out at the NFL level other than effort.

I know tunsil is your guy, he's mine as well, but it's not gonna happen, he's out of reach, and Carl Lawson is unlikely to even declare this year, but if he can stay healthy I definitely hope we give him a look next year

He will most likely be out of reach at eight, but nothing is impossible.  Some teams may fall in love with Stanley over Tunsil.  Crazier things have happened.  You also have to consider that it is likely that a couple QB's go in the top 8 as well.  Other players will come out of the wood work in the offseason and shoot up draft boards.  It's going to be a fun offseason.

Go Ravens!

Ogbah has a terrific first step. I do need to watch more of him but I've loved what I've seen so far. My biggest concern is he's from an eh defensive conference.

And Zach Brown? What do you see his role being? He's an ILB unless you want him as the WILL next to Mosley to replace Smith.

Yep I like Zach Brown to replace Daryl Smith and immediately upgrade defenses speed. A 3 down LB with great range like Mosley.

Carl Lawson's too much of a health concern.

I disagree. He had two totally different big injuries. One kind of freak injury. He doesn't seem injury prone, he's not like constantly banged up plus he's a huge and consistent producer. He was one of the very few that has beat tunsil.

Exactly. I think he is 100% worth any injury concerns he may have.

I think the 2nd round is a good place to pick him up. I had Lawson in a mock and I think if it weren't for the injuries he would be in the top 15. I think when elite level talent like his fall to you in the 2nd round, then you take him. I do like Boyd a bit more simply because we could use another WR.

I'll take Lawson over Boyd personally despite going to Pitt currently and being a huge fan. But I get your point. If Lawson falls to the second I'm hoping we traded back in the first and have an extra 2nd for him and Boyd lol.

Brown was a great college player but he was nowhere near the pro prospect

The reports on Lawson reminds me of Stefon Diggs. People said he was injury prone but his injuries weren't the recurring ones. They were just strange injuries. Diggs has clearly been worth it.

I think sometimes injury concerns are overblown. We've seen players play their college careers healthy and then become injury ridden in the NFL. Jimmy Smith is a great example of this. Just really freak injuries.

that is exactly how I described diggs during the draft, and yes I agree that they are similar
