[News] Who Is Kaelin Clay?

33 posts in this topic

Good for him! It gives the boy a chance, even though it was against the Browns.

The guy has some speed, that's for sure. When he hit the sideline then hit the burners, he just pulled away. Hope he can continue to run like that!

Well, Kaelin introduced himself to Baltimore fans in the best possible way. I was following the game thread with a bunch of other Ravens fans, then came a blast of "who is that?" By the time some fans typed the questions, Kaelin was celebrating in the endzone. Well Kaelin, I think that punt return TD and jersey #81 is firmly imprinted in our brains. Hey, and thanks for jump starting the Ravens giving us some critical early points we desperately needed to keep us in the game. Congrats.

Speaking of "who is that" can we talk about West wearing 27? Wonder what the motivation behind that was. My buddy loves it, but it still feels too soon for me for another rb to wear 27

West actually called RR out of respect to wear his number....

Im glad you brought this up!  Iforgot about it, but when I saw him wearing #27 last night, I out a bad taste in my mouth. Kind of like Harbaugh and company sending a message to the players and fans saying "He's gone, get over it".

But seriously did he do that for Ray??, because if he did then that is awesome. It even seemed like he was fueled by it.

"Who is Kaelin Clay?" he's the guy that saved Shaub from the blade, because if it wasn't for Urban/Hill/Clay.. and we had lost that game...Shaub would def be out of the starting position. But since we won it, it kind of takes the spotlight off the fact that Shaub threw one pick 6, then threw another INT at the end. I actually had a bad feeling it was going to happen smh.

Besides Clay, I was so relieved to see they brought Daniel Brown back!! Just unfortunate that they bring him back once Flacco goes down. its like the coaches want to deal as many cards against him as possible to make his fight for a role on this team as hard as possible.

I've seen that gaffe on video and wondered who did it. Now I know. I'm sure he'll never do that again. Kinda like finding out the stove is hot by putting your hand on it. You never forget about it again.

he wanted 28 but Trawick has it so he got the closest number to it, and 29 was taken as well..

Just remeber, it was Hill who abandoned his deep coverage, to jump a crossing route, on the game tying touchdown.

Quote "But Clay became a staple on ESPN’s “Not Top 10” when he, in a rivalry game against Oregon, celebrated too early and dropped the ball a yard short of the end zone, only to have it returned 99 yards for a touchdown by the Ducks."

Where I work the management would disipline him with a 20 day suspension. It's amazing how pro sports players can get chances and I am happy the Ravens recognized his whole body of skills rather than the 1% negative.

I'd kinda like to find out what he could do at WR.

I would really like to see what he could do at WR with Jimmy Clausen throwing the ball because with his speed, just like Givens in the last game, Schaub put everything he had into that throw to Givens and was a good 10 yards short of where it should have been.  I would like to see Clay and Givens both on the field, but if the QB cant throw the ball deep, it loses the effect of being able to stretch the field.  Defenders wont play deep if you don't have a fast receiver OR a QB who cant throw the ball deep.  Yes Schaub completed that pass to Givens but Givens made a good play and the defender was beat bad, it had nothing to do with what Schaub did.

But this is a kid with maturity issues? Browns are a joke.

Truly glad I'm not a Brown's fan but you never know what happened there. I got a horrid memory but didn't we cut OLB Harrison for maturity issues (shame we didn't try just a tad longer with him)

Kaelin Clay was drafted by Tampa Bay but Detroit Lions were planning to draft him. Clay was released due to an injury and signed to the Bucs practice squad. He was then traded to the Detroit lions after week 2. He has been on the Lions practice squad since. Since the Ravens were hurting at Wr and returner they picked him up from the practice squad 2 weeks ago. When you sign someone from another teams practice squad to have to activate him.

Not trying to bash, but how do the two correlate? It's not like he got suspended for drugs or anything. While it's a bone headed play, it comes down to simply being a fumble. I want to know why this play is such a big deal for a college kid, but no one talks about DeSean Jackson making the same mistake as a pro

That's a good point, but he was also cut from the steelers too so there was more to that situation. I just feel the Browns are nervous after the josh gordon debacle, which is also why they're making such a big deal about Manziel. Based off what was in the lighr, west had never been in trouble. Now, like you said, what happens behind closed doors is different. All in all, I'm happy he's now a Raven as we wanted him over Taliaferro anyway.
