Your Reaction to the "Kick-Six"

54 posts in this topic

Well...Not exactly.

It wasn't Urlacher's decision to be in the game at that juncture.  That was a coaching decision and a poor one and when the Bears missed the playoffs the following year at 10-6, in part due to the fact Urlacher was not 100%, Lovey lost his job.

It's not precisely comparable because we are already missing  half our team to IR.  However, winning close games in what will be a down year is not anything to get excited about.  If something was on the line, different story, but it ain't.

Anyone getting excited about a 7-9 season and memorable games in that run really ....well....if its come to that....its a sorry state.  This season will quickly pass from memory regardless of late game "heroics".  They just don't count. What will count is our final draft position and how well we utilize it.

I can understand how you and others feel about this, but the reality is what we think or remember means nothing. What matters is developing and keeping alive a culture of winning.

It was amazing...  Just amazing...

I woke up our household as well.  That being said...  It was a thing of beauty that seems to happen now and again at times for the Ravens.

I woke my daughter up fist pumping through the house. Will Hill constantly shows up in these moments, it's just normally a flag thrown on the play.

My reaction was, "There goes three more draft positions".

I'm reminded of an anecdote, one of my favorite NFL players was Brian Urlacher.  The Bears were 7-8 that year going into the last game against the Vikings, with nothing on the line.  A win provided nothing except Lovey Smith an 8-8 record.  Late in the game with outcome in the balance Urlacher was still in.  He was injured defending a pass in the end zone and missed training camp the next year and that essentially was the end of his career at about 34 years old.  Had the Bears finished 7-9 the Bears would have moved  up about 8 draft positions and Urlacher would have contributed more the next season.

I just don't get it.

I'll take integrity over draft position.

I agree with several folks here. I never want to see "losing" for any reason be an acceptable position at anytime inside the walls at one winning drive. "You play to win the game". Look at the Browns...plenty of high draft picks, but a losing culture persists. #DontGoThereBmore

I actually jokingly said to my wife that I could see that happen before the play. It didn't catch me too off guard because of the way the Browns completely botched the two plays prior. Honestly, I was absolutely certain they were going to at least miss the kick. The only way I saw them winning there was if we Ravens'd it up (and the jump across the line almost had me thinking we did just that, so lucky they didn't move there).

When it actually happened, I was surprisingly reserved even though I did think it was awesome. Unfortunately, I was just waiting for it to be called back. I've gotten so negative anymore (accusingly points a finger at YOU reading this).

Then, there was hysterical laughter when my buddy texted me that he lost by less than a point in fantasy and he had Justin Tucker. That made the night even better.

If you were a draft pick person, I know you threw all that out of the window for that moment, if not you're not a fan at all. I know I did, screw bosa for today, and besides the Browns sweeping us?! Man hell no!

My daughter was sleeping so yelling was suppressed at best.

Shaub threw the pick, my wife and I looked at each other with that  " Yup, another game like this... "

Even though it was a 51 yarder I just knew he was going to make it.  Its been like that all season.

Not really looking at the TV when the Ravens took the time out before the kick I started cleaning up my snacks and what not.

Kinda paying attention, but not really wanting to.

I heard the announcer say " IT'S BLOCKED !!! " for a split second I thought  " Oh no, over time !! "

I look up and see Will Hill running with some pretty good blocking, and I start yelling under my breath " RUN WILL HILL !! RUN WILL HILL !!! "  ( yes I used his full name )

He runs in I look for that "FLAG" graphic on the screen.

I look at my wife in complete disbelief.....

My wife said  " Did something just go our way ? "

It really was disbelief more than anything.  Things like THAT have been happening to our opponents, not us.

it was awesome.   Its no Mile High Miracle, but its up there for sure.

That was the FIRST thing I looked for.

I literally laughed. It was so 2015 Ravens but I loved the desire to win. I saw men hungry to win a game. I saw football players who wouldn't ever give up. I've been wanting to see that all year. I think this team is growing up.

All it took was losing all their veteran leaders to grow up. Go figure.

But but but didn't you hear, Harbs has lost this team?

That walk off kick-six was one of the most exciting plays in football that I've ever watched live and it will probably go down as one of the best plays in Baltimore Ravens history. So I was wondering. What was your reaction to the play?

I hate to say it, but I called it.  My wife was complaining that she couldn't stay awake if they went into OT.  At first I said, "maybe they'll getg a pick six on this last Cleveland drive."  She laughred at me.  Then I said "maybe they'll force a FG, block it and run it back for a TD".  She gave me the "side-eye".  Lo-and-behold that's how it ended.  I should of bet her...something...

Maybe that's what this is all about. Maybe we're a really young team, and they didn't realize the stakes until they lost all the vets.

The "kick 6" was the most exciting Ravens game ending play I ever saw. I began prolonged loud and primal screams at the top of my lungs. I live in historic Ellicott City with many neighbors and thin walls. I am just grateful that nobody called 911 for a possible domestic disturbance or homicide in progress.

I think I know exactly who you are. I'll give you a hint who I am now... Your son had the exact opposite reaction, because he wanted us to lose to get a better draft pick AND he had fantasy players he wanted more points from in OT. I know this because I live with him.

I laughed. We are going to go 5-11 or 6-10 and miss out on a good pick. Ozzie will trade back and screw the pooch once again. This has become a joke.

I was thinking wow we are going to win then came the int and I was like here we go again well its going to be nice selecting at the top of the draft then the block and Hill III picks it up and I was at first thinking overtime then he just keeps running and no flags. TD it was AWESOME!!!

It had better not be my son on the draft pick and fantasy points bandwagon, lol. If it is my son, remind him that it's more important to draft wisely than draft a few spots earlier. Play to win. Period. Sheesh.

Will 'the thrill' Hill lived up to his name! He came up with perhaps one of the most thrilling plays to end a game for us with a 'W'! It ranks up there with Ray Lewis' stop in San Diego, Ray Rice's 4th & 27 run and Jacoby's miracle in Mile High catch!

Completely agree. The only irony is that on those other plays I was screaming my head off, but on the Kick Six, I was LMAO. Probably because it was Cleveland.
