Your Reaction to the "Kick-Six"

54 posts in this topic

That walk off kick-six was one of the most exciting plays in football that I've ever watched live and it will probably go down as one of the best plays in Baltimore Ravens history. So I was wondering. What was your reaction to the play?

Right before the play happened, I grabbed my headphones and turn on my iPod. As soon as the snap went off, I turned on my iPod. As soon as Hill scored, I proceeded to do the nae nae.....slowly.

True story.

Will 'the thrill' Hill lived up to his name! He came up with perhaps one of the most thrilling plays to end a game for us with a 'W'! It ranks up there with Ray Lewis' stop in San Diego, Ray Rice's 4th & 27 run and Jacoby's miracle in Mile High catch!

I was happy but if we were in the playoff hunt I would have been delirious !

True story.

I just briefly shut my eyes and muted the TV and when I squinted at the TV with one eye, I saw utter chaos, with the Ravens players running down the sideline!!! Imagine my surprise trying to fumble with my remote desperately unmuting the TV and not able to contain my utter astonishment with the rest of the family fast asleep!!!

The "kick 6" was the most exciting Ravens game ending play I ever saw. I began prolonged loud and primal screams at the top of my lungs. I live in historic Ellicott City with many neighbors and thin walls. I am just grateful that nobody called 911 for a possible domestic disturbance or homicide in progress.

Welcome to my world.

When in doubt, stay calm at all times(so much easier said than done).

I also had to contain my excitement and didn't want to wake anyone up. I was so happy but then I remembered, it was Monday Night Football and Ray Lewis was there, so of course we won when Ray was there.

I laughed like a maniac. I also somehow blurted out a string of profanities and obscenities that I didn't even know I knew. I don't think I've ever laughed and sworn so hard at the same time.

On the outside I was completely speechless and emotionless with a blank expression on my face but on the inside I was freakin pumped - ecstatic and in disbelief. I was somewhat confused when I didn't see a flag because I was so sure that our horrible luck was going to strike again and I thought it was just too good to be true. Once I realized we had actually won I was just sitting back with the biggest grin on my face. A lot of mixed emotions about messing up our draft position but the love for my team and the will to win compared with my respect for the heart and fight in some of those young Guys certainly outweighed any of those thoughts. Definitely one to remember regardless of our record.

My daughter was sleeping so yelling was suppressed at best.

Shaub threw the pick, my wife and I looked at each other with that  " Yup, another game like this... "

Even though it was a 51 yarder I just knew he was going to make it.  Its been like that all season.
Not really looking at the TV when the Ravens took the time out before the kick I started cleaning up my snacks and what not.
Kinda paying attention, but not really wanting to.
I heard the announcer say " IT'S BLOCKED !!! " for a split second I thought  " Oh no, over time !! "
I look up and see Will Hill running with some pretty good blocking, and I start yelling under my breath " RUN WILL HILL !! RUN WILL HILL !!! "  ( yes I used his full name )
He runs in I look for that "FLAG" graphic on the screen.
I look at my wife in complete disbelief.....
My wife said  " Did something just go our way ? "

It really was disbelief more than anything.  Things like THAT have been happening to our opponents, not us.
it was awesome.   Its no Mile High Miracle, but its up there for sure.

I was honestly hoping for a miss... I seen the block I was like ok......then hill picked the ball up I thought we was going out of bounds... He just kept running. I'm telling GO! GO! **** yeah!! Let's goooooooooooo!!!!!!!! Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! And I didn't sit down for the next 20 minutes I was pacing back and forth after I was beyond excited.

I mean I had the lose for bosa in my mind but all of that went out the window for that moment. I became a fan again for that one moment it was the most excited I've been since we beat the steelers last year.

My mom and brother had gone to bed, and me and my dad were sitting in the living room.

We just let the Browns tie it and I was sitting on the floor thinking "here we go again".

Schaub threw the pick and I kinda laughed, thinking there was no way that could've happened. I was praying for a block. I even tebowed (hence my username) and then I saw the ball get swatted. I started yelling "GO GO!!!" And we won. I saw there were no flags and I woke up my brother and mom. Totally worth it.

Perfect ending for the game. Another play that also ranks up there is when we were in Oakland back in 2000 , and Shannon Sharpe got the little bubble pass and ran for the 96 yard TD.

My reaction was, "There goes three more draft positions".

I'm reminded of an anecdote, one of my favorite NFL players was Brian Urlacher.  The Bears were 7-8 that year going into the last game against the Vikings, with nothing on the line.  A win provided nothing except Lovey Smith an 8-8 record.  Late in the game with outcome in the balance Urlacher was still in.  He was injured defending a pass in the end zone and missed training camp the next year and that essentially was the end of his career at about 34 years old.  Had the Bears finished 7-9 the Bears would have moved  up about 8 draft positions and Urlacher would have contributed more the next season.

I just don't get it.

Alright we get it. You want a higher Draft pick. The thing that makes players like urlacher great was their passion and will to win. That's why he defended that pass to help win the game. To win. Regardless on what happened to him.

I just jumped up and ran to my tv screen hanging on my wall and said.....

RUN HILL........

RUN HILL.......

RUN HILL.......

SCORE!  SCORE!  SCORE!

And man, when he did with no flags I jumped all over my man cave and shouted (like the guy who is a Texans fan shouted in his car after they made a game winning FG in the commercial).......

WE WONNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed that win.  I watch the game for that kind of excitement.  Draft picks are cool though.

I wanted Coons to make the kick when they were lining up. I have been all about #1 overall lately.

When that block happened and Hill had the ball, I was like GO BABY!!! Get that [profanity] in the end zone!!!! Then he did and I was happy and then came to terms that we will not get Tunsil or Bosa. Oh well, we have them the Cleveland Steamer

When they lined up for the fg, I was like "here comes another heartbreaking loss! When Levine jumped offside, I thought the flag was coming out, but it didn't. So when the fg was blocked, I thought we would go into OT & lose in heartbreaking fashion!

But when Hill ran down the sideline, I lost my mind, jumping up & down! Then I ran outside & lost my mind again! My entire neighborhood came outside like that was the craziest game they seen in a long time! That lasted about 15 mins! So I ran back inside & sat down, like What the heck? just happened? So I just replay it over & over again! I can't get enough! OMG

I'm usually pretty disiplined when it comes to late games during the week. Quiet as a mouse, but....I woke-up the household and some of the neighborhood on that one. Couldn't help it. That was a beautiful thing.

Well...Not exactly.

It wasn't Urlacher's decision to be in the game at that juncture.  That was a coaching decision and a poor one and when the Bears missed the playoffs the following year at 10-6, in part due to the fact Urlacher was not 100%, Lovey lost his job.

It's not precisely comparable because we are already missing  half our team to IR.  However, winning close games in what will be a down year is not anything to get excited about.  If something was on the line, different story, but it ain't.

Anyone getting excited about a 7-9 season and memorable games in that run really ....well....if its come to that....its a sorry state.  This season will quickly pass from memory regardless of late game "heroics".  They just don't count. What will count is our final draft position and how well we utilize it.

yeah, I don't think this season will quickly pass from memory; I think it will be a sore spot for quite some time.
