[News] Buck Allen And Terrance West A 'Top-Notch' 1-2 Punch

60 posts in this topic

I use to be a Cowboy fan. However I got really tired of Jerry Jones. I live in Delaware so I decided to root for and be a Raven fan. They have a great front office and great coaches. They have a team who sticks together and play hard together. I think folks on here need to be very appreciative of a good organization and stop all the critism.

We're shaping up nicely. The cream is starting to rise to the top with some of these guys. We'll have a young and talented roster next season that could propel us back into playoff contenders for years to come. The confidence is building.

GO RAVENS!

After 1 game, against the Browns run D. I wouldn't go as far as to say that we have a "Top Notch 1-2 punch" BUT Buck Allen is definitely a RB with good potential. He displays great confidence, all he needs to do is work on his technique. And West, that guy played with a chip on his shoulder. He was hungry!! Lets hope he keeps that up week by week. Anyone see that spin he made to elude a tackler, I was like "Damn this boy is hungry!" Lol

Interesting development. If these two guys make yardage what do we do with 4 running backs come training camp.

The way I see it, Buck Allen and West are the only 2 RB I would move on with next season for this team. I wouldn't be totally comfortable with Buck as a #1 RB just yet, but he makes a great back-up/1-2 punch. I like Forsett, but this team needs a bruising #1 RB. We should def hit the draft for one.

I'm not convinced @ all. Neither has breakout speed or elusiveness. For the bruising, yes. Anything else, no. I'm still looking for them to upgrade the bunch with one or two maybe sticking around.

I see you got 6 negs for your comment, don't feel bad Lol. Your actually being honest. I like Buck, him and West displayed good confidence and potential last night, but....it was the Browns D.  We def need to draft a bruising full speed explosive RB next draft. But Buck is definitely a keeper.

Keep the best 3 and put the 4th on the practice squad.

guys...please pump the brakes. The Browns are complete garbage against the run...against pretty much everything actually.

very true but we had 3 backups on the O line too so that kind of evens things out if you ask me. I thought they did a great job.

I thought they both did well. Maybe just because I've seen more of Buck, but I was particularly impressed with West. I really think he ran the ball well. He seemed faster and more elusive than I was expecting, for some reason. I'm anxious to see what they do the rest of the way.

I agree- I was also pleasently surprised with west- He definitely surpassed my expectations and looked hungry out there. the way he turned sure losses into 2-3 yard gains and fought for every yard Definitely impressed me and that's what I look for in a good back.

Pretty set at the RB and TE... Now if we could just get that WR situation worked out. One bright spot is Jeremy Butler is absolutely making the best of his opportunities and has proven himself.

Moderator 3: You don't place Forsett on the practice squad. Three younger backs provide more playing years down the line. The only neg is that Terrance continues to be the infant terrible.

Silly me, assuming Forsett would be one of the best 3.

I never pay too much attention to the ups nor downs of someone not agreeing with something I may say as an opinion. Freedom of expression is one of the reasons why i joined the military. I just am of the impression that a greater body of work is needed to crown the next man up. Buck is doing well in spot duty assignments. When he shoulders a greater potion of the load while being productive and consistent then I may be less skeptical. He is doing an admirable job securing the ball and running hard. He has a ground and pound style/trait. But the rest of the league hasn't had too much time to scheme for him so he's success may or may not be heightened.  I myself will wait until thee end of the season to past judgement on his viability going forward. And I agree that we could still use another infusion of fresh blood @ the position. The same style as you quoted. There can never be enough quality Offensive players. The league and our past struggles should be proof of that.

Very impressed with both of these young men...... Buck is a pounder if ever I saw one, AND he can catch the ball. I do wish they had run the ball much more last night....... Looking forward to see so much more of them both for the remainder of the season. :)

With the upcoming Dolphins game I imagine this crew will be a larger part of the game plan. Since Schwab threw two ridiculous interceptions, I feel Trestman will use a running game safety net.

I was impressed with multiple young guys. Buck Allen showed some open field elusiveness and make miss ability like Rice used to display. West got some chunks behind a O line that blocked pretty well for Yanda, Wagner and back ups.

Jeremy Butler showed me something...I velieve he caught every ball thrown his way which was 2or3, and showed some good route running. Last but not least Brent Urban, Ravens might have a player.. I like. First game makes big impact.

Still sour, 3 picks that were dropped. Work on that this week.

And As good as I thought Schaub played for 58 minutes..the second INT got me.

If he just doesnt throw it to the other team, we can win.

And lastly..This team still Fights. Obviously. They arent rolling over for a draft pick

Terrence West needs more carries. I thought he looked quick, and he obviously runs hard to get the extra yards. I think he really has some potential behind this O-Line. And I know he carries a chip on his shoulder for how things were handled in Cleveland. These two guys could be a tandem and we still have Forsett.

I still am not impressed with Pass Happy Trestman. Last year Ravens were 8th in running and now 18. Three straight passes from the Ravens end zone with Matt as QB! Just asking for trouble. Ravens are going to run into a playoff caliber team and that's where reality is going to slap the snot right out of them.

Trestman seems like a nice guy and quarterbacks like him. But it really scares me that he's so committed to throwing the ball all over the place. Even with a backup QB, 3 backup linemen, no goto WR and hed still throw the ball every time if he could.

Really liked what we saw from two young backs. Buck showed great ability to run through the tackle with good speed and power while West displayed great lateral ability. Looks like RB and TE will be strong going into 2016. Hope we get to play more of Daniel Brown and Butler, they seem to play hungry and hope to see more time down the road. With Forsett coming back in 2016, It looks we can then place our future draft picks into more WR and DB help since that is where it is more needed(not to forget passrusher and Oline).

With the injuries that we have seen all season, at least we get the chance to see which players are worth keeping on the roster. As for Trestman and his game plans, hopefully, he will be elsewhere next season. But, that won't happen. We will keep him and blame all of the failures of the offense on the injuries that we have had to deal with this year. The same can be said about Pees and his D-schemes. To me the Secondary is the Achilles heel of the Ravens this year. We really need to see some improvement back there for the team to make a positive turn around.

I thought both played well, but let's be honest. Eleanor Roosevelt could run on the Browns. "Horrible tackling" was the announcer's call on Allen's TD catch and run. He was right.

Really like Buck. With RB set and with the Ravens on a streak they still may land in the top five-ten order. Rang has so many great players - by name and hype of course - in and around their current sixth pick spot one shouldn't confuse wins this season with potential picks. No one in this draft is going to make any team SB champs out of the box. They'll still have shots at Ramsey, Conklin,DeForest and an outside shot at Tunsil (assuming they can unload Monroe). OK most sports analysts see this as a bad team and lets put the crying towel on the side over what coulda shoulda been had they stayed healthy. With a record number of close losses which mirrors Peter Kings substance argument over their SB potential it is obvious the league parity is achieved. Whether that devalues your team or mine is another story. Two or maybe three players from the young guys and two starters from the draft and they're rolling.

It took me a while to see it, but Buck looks like a young Fred Jackson type back. West has some explosiveness to him and some shiftyness, trying to place it. Hope both keep going and developing. They will be tested vs. Mr Oklahoma drill coach. The Dolphin's coach actually runs Oklahoma drills in practice and the team says they like games because they are a rest compared to practice.

What I didn't like was it appeared as though T. West was taunting the Browns bench after every good run.

Stay humble young man!

Let him. I get that he's young but Steve did the same thing and everyone thought it was awesome(including me).

Steve Smith is a HOFer and he's career is proof enough that he backs up his words/actions with his play.

Terrance West was taunting the Browns for one reason and one reason only and that's b/c they cut him.

T. West should be grateful and humble that he got a 3rd chance to prove himself.

There's really NO comparison!!

Hmmm, never read that "Future HOFers can taunt" Rule! It's the same taunt you see between Yanda and Kruger,... ex-teammates just "breezin'"!

When you're cut by the team that drafted you in the 3rd round bc of personal issues while you're still in your rookie deal, I doubt that the taunting that West was doing was just "breezin".  Besides, Kruger left on good terms w/ the Ravens,  T. West, not so much.
