The good, bad and ugly vent thread week 12 Browns

212 posts in this topic

Just saw some live reactions of Cleveland fans at the stadium ripping their jerseys like they did when lebron left... Anyway

Good: Shareece wright can't wait to see the PFF grade on him... Terrence west understands this done stretch that we run ran it in Cleveland and knows where holes are going to be... Elvis dumervil played an excellent game against one of the best right tackles in the game... Our tight ends just keep coming up in the clutch time after time after time... Kamar should be in our plans for the future he is super reliable along with Jeremy... Kaelin looks solid as a returner just remember PROTECT THAT BALL

Bad: Buck Allen needs to see the field more and be patient during his runs... There are lanes on the backside of the runs that Terrence hit but did not reach them... Still like him in space though can break tackles or make ya miss... People are going to hate schaub but I say give him 2 or 3 more weeks if we can still keep our head above water... Timing needs to improve which will with time... And he threw an int against tramon who has been the best at jumping routes for the last half decade I'm not going to hold it against him...Daryl smith needs to take better angles in wrapping up... Will played terrible all the way until that final play you get a holding call on special teams when your double teaming someone... He can do everything on defense except play the deep ball

Ugly: Rick Wagner, jimmy smith, Courtney upshaw in coverage, overall play in zone coverage and lack of awareness

Saw a healthy amount of 4-3 tonight with Zach orr in there... I like it... My biggest complaint about a 4-3 defense is we would take b will out of his nose tackle dominance although he was not disruptive tonight well get a better reading against a terrible o-line against Miami next week

That last play was just amazing. Even in a bad year, this kind of win is really special. The problems are aplenty, but I'll gladly take this win. Also nice to avoid being swept by Cleveland...

Yeah Allen and West both looked good. As you said it was against a terrible run defense, but we also had three backups in that OL so that kind of balances out. I'm really liking our RB situation for the future. Forsett, Allen, West, Taliaferro... could we keep 4 RB's? RB and TE groups are pretty stacked with young talent. Now to just get some WR's.

Wright has played great, for a guy picked up off the streets, ever since that rough game vs the 49ers and when Harbs calling him out. It was good to see those two walking off the field together arm in arm tonight.

Good points. We were minus three starters on the OL, which certainly helps even the score. Agreed on both the RB and TE groups.

You're right, he's played well ever since that awful performance. The stats back it up too. He's allowed 66 yards in the 4 games since then as our LCB and has given up 5 receptions on 10 targets with no scores. That's before tonight, where he likely allowed 45% or less in coverage. That it was, that it was.

man, how much more exciting would this ending have been if we won against jacksonville and were still in the hunt for the in-the-hunt bracket.

Funny thing is,

1, the line we used was illegal, you can't overload one side like that.

2.Levine jumped early

3. Will Hill stepped out of bounds

Wow to Allen's blocking. I love his aggressiveness. Webb looks better each week, Jimmy not so much. lol  I think we need to game plan to treat Schaub like he is Dilfer.

That kind of game plan involved us actually having a defense, which we currently do not have

Levine adjusted his stance to avoid offsides but places hand in nuetral zone.  I'm glad the 015 stink refs missed that  or perhaps realized it was so minor that watching a historical kick six was more relevant.   WE are relevant again   We are one of 7 teams with a 4-7 record    There are 5 teams with 5 wins  The Titans and hapless Browns are the only teams with 2 wins.  17 teams are under .500 out of 32  This season is a have and have not tier    Hey we play  Miami  ( a 4-7 team) next

Jerrigan and Upshaw brutilized McCown.    Austin Davis was about to slap us but kudo's to Urban and Hill... Ha Cleveland schocks us at home and we have our turn.    Congrads to Coach Harbs  We win 3 out of 4 from a 1-5 start.  Congrads to Special teams.    Schawb has to check down!!!  Clay our newest rookie  finally sends 6 our way on his run.   RAVENS!!!!!    Take the fight to Miami!!!

Static's Quick Takes.

  • Webbs tackling was nice to watch but he still allowed way too many completions.
  • James Hurst is still not an NFL player.
  • Buck Allen and Terrence West were fantastic but the Running game was dead and forgotten like usual.'
  • Shareece Wright was our best corner today. I loved his play.
  • Jimmy Smith is still showing me NOTHING.
  • C.J Mosley played lovely again but he got abused in coverage. Peas has to scheme around his weakness. The Browns were able to put Mosley on Duke Johnson Multiples times. Opposing OCs should not be able to X and O our defense like that.
  • Daryl Smith missed a few tackles and I'm sure contributed to Barnidge being wide open.
    • Matt Schuab is Matt Schuab. Not much else to say. He had a  95 rating at one point but if you need 28 points from Schuab to win. You already lost.
  • You already know how I feel about Kendrick Lewis. Please. Please. Remove him.
  • I'd be comfortable cutting Forsett lose and riding with Allen and West. I know we could use that 3mil elsewhere.
  • Jernigan played well , Upshaw was alright and Canty too. Pass Rush was on fire at times and ghost at others.
  • Brent Urban is Elite.

Statment and fan like yourself is the reason why we pay a mediocre QB 120m for no reason. Joe isnt any special. He is slightly better and definately replaceable. While fans like yourself will be contempt with pay a dud QB 28mill next year, i'd rather move on and get my team back on track.

There are teams that have spent a decade wallowing in despair trying year after year to get a "mediocre" QB like Joe. They burn quality draft pick after quality draft pick (which could be used on other positions) in a desperate search for that guy and still don't find him.

I'm pretty sure we played one of those teams last night.

So, perhaps you can tell us all who exactly it is that we're going to move on to in order to get this team back on track? Some kid coming out of college this year? Some under the radar guy floating around the league that these other teams without a viable QB option have missed out on?

1. He's getting paid $18M next season.

2. That's the going rate for players like Joe, as pretty much every contract in the league will tell you.

3. At least a half dozen teams have spent multiple draft picks over a decade or longer looking for a QB as good as Joe. Needless to say, they disagree with your assessment for obvious reasons.

2.Levine jumped early

3. Will Hill stepped out of bounds

I'm not sure about 1 or 3 but the NFL came out and said Levine was in the clear and never jumped.

“The ball was spotted at the 33-and-a-half yard line for the kick,” NFL spokesman Michael Signora told PFT via email. “The center moves the ball up slightly to get in position for the snap. The black line you see, which television uses to denote the line of scrimmage, appears to be at the 33, not the 33-and-a-half. So when the ball is snapped, the defensive player is not at the 33-and-a-half yard-line and he appears to be in a legal position.”

The Good: Well, Aiken and Givens are really not going to be your choice for a #1 and #2 receiver, but these guys are serviceable. I'd still like to see them in Ravens uniforms next year, just as rotational guys. Wright is looking like a keeper. Unfortunately, none of them are under contract.

The Bad: Yet another 4th quarter blown lead by the D. The STs saved their behinds, but they basically went down the path of losing us another game. Despite some modest improvement, they're killing us. We cover the outside OK, but underneath routes are open (our LBs combined with Hill struggle in coverage) and then no safety on top to keep us from getting burned deep.

The Ugly: It is amazing how Schaub not only throws picks, but that they so often turn into pick-6s.

The Good:

Special Teams of course.

Tucker the Bruiser. Love that tackling.

Allen is a huge asset.

Aikens showed some promise as did Butler.

Loved to see Urban on the field.

Things finally bounce in our favor with the referee gods..

The Bad:

Jimmy Smith had a horrible game again.

Tackling was awful by the entire D.

Schaub is.... well Schaub.

Ravens fans complaining about a win ?

Getting away from the run way to early, why why why....

Even though i would love to see us get a top 5 pick i think in the long run and scheme of things a win will help the team over all as confidence plays such a huge factor in any athletes performance. With that being said, i hope this momentum keeps going and we can play 500 ball from here on out.

I do think we need to male some additions and remove some players as well but i think all in all we have a lot to look forward to.

Me just being an average fan and have the knowledge of just an average fan think we need to let go of the notion of Jimmy Smith ever being a true #1 cover corner. He is frustrating as his size and speed say he should be a #1 but he just has bad footwork, plays way to soft in coverage and never plays the ball.,

Move Webb to FS as he just looks more comfortable there and it seems that he has lost his tackling technique. I used to love it before as i knew if he got a hand on you he would tackle you but for some reason he lost that.

I also think our biggest need is along the O'line. If we can buy Joe more time we can not only control the tempo and clock but get back to running the ball as well. I think that should be a priority over the defense. To me a true #1 corner and a solid safety would go a long way on defense but we need Joe healthy and we need to be a run first team.

I try to think in terms of the salary cap but it is beyond my skillset to be honest and we could vastly improve the O'line for way less coin. Most likely my entire post is way off so do not crucify my, educate me.

In any case, i love to see us get a W in any shape or form it comes in.

This is a useless and pointless post.

How can someone play less than 5 plays in 2 years, sticks his arm up in the air, the ball just so happens to hit his arm and all at once he is ELITE. Heck he didn't even run the ball back..Lets put him in on defense when it is 3rd down and 2,100 degrees outside and the opposition is driving the ball and then we see how he does.  Trash is talked about other players yet Urban is  is considered ELITE? Come on now.........

Is it a bad thing that I'm sad because we won that game?We just officially took ourselves out of the Joey Bosa lottery. It's good chance we won't even get a top 5 pick now.I guess it's time to hop on the Laquan Treadwell bandwagon.

Yeah but that was my take on it as well but, admittedly, you need to know the poster to grasp the sarcasm around here most of the time.

Now that little dude with the red dreds who returned a kick for 6? That dudes elite.

I think Urban will do the same thing elite DEs do when it is 2,100 degrees outside and burn to death.

Everyone's hating on Matt but he was playing just as good as Flacco would, until the 4th Quarter.
