The good, bad and ugly vent thread week 12 Browns

I don't see how you can say he played well. He tried, he is what he is. But 2 int, one being a pick 6 and one TD which was more the receivers doing . . . . isn't playing well.

He's a backup. For the standard of a backup, he played well.

You'll see that play on sports networks for some time to come.  Spectacular.  Almost fell off my chair.Urban Hill Thanks.

Clearly Flacco is obviously better than Schuab. My point being that Flacco has struggled all season so I don't know why anyone would expect anything different with Schuab. The fact that their Numbers were even close is impressive to say the least.

I get that Bashing Schuab is funny but he was solid.

I don't think he was solid, at all, really. He ran a dink and dunk offense that utilized a ton of short routes and made a ton of completions off of them. It was quick one read passes that would swing it out quickly.

When asked to hold on, work through the progressions, and push it down the field, he struggled mightily with high passes, low passes, and passes that were just right to the defense. I don't even know what he was thinking half the time. For example, on that pick six, even if the linebacker weren't there, the corner had that route jumped so hard.

I thought his play was way too erratic when he was asked to push the ball more than 10 yards down the field and that led to it being a very mediocre game for me.

During the bye week there was a lot of talk by the players and coaches that they were all in to run the table and go 8-0 to finish the season. Well if it wasn't for a blown no call by the refs vs the Jags, we would be 3-0 into that 8-0 projection. Thanks refs!!

saying webb is covering better than smith right now isnt really an insult to jimmy, webb has really stepped it up lately and is looking more and more like his old self every week, hes inconsistent right now but so is everyone on this defense, and the lack of pass rush makes the whole secondary look bad.

as for jimmy.. hes coming off of one of the most infamous injuries in all of sports, at this point, with advances in sports medicine, the lisfranc could possibly be considered more of a career changer than an ACL, doctors have figured out the ACL pretty well, but not the lisfranc, and it still continues to derail careers, and if there is any position where a lisfranc is nearly a death sentence, its probably cb, all that weight shifting and hip turning and exploding off of your feet is brutal on such an injury.

I can agree with your post but this whole conversation started because someone said Hill was letting way too many plays get by him and Hill is playing pretty darn good. YES he has goofed on some plays but he has made more big plays for our secondary than all the other DB's. Webb is playing a lot better but too many times I see Jimmy way off the line of scrimmage and always looking at another team mate when his guy makes the catch. He is getting paid WAY TOO MUCH  $ FOR THAT "not yelling at you just expressing my frustration" I am very happy with the Win and very surprised by it once that pick happened and they were where they were on our side of the field.

Peas constantly got out X'd and O'd. They consistenly opened the middle of the field and got our linebackers in bad match ups.

A player allowing a reception is one thing but Upshaw being in coverage and Mosley getting put out wide on a fast RB is 100% on the DC.

As far as putting Mosley out on a running back, that's fairly standard around the league. If a tight end gets flexed out, a safety is going to be out there in man coverage. It's just the way it usually works.

I guess the Ravens could pull a linebacker or defensive lineman off the field for another corner to cover the running back, but then you're losing out on pass rush or run defense. It's a trade off and you should expect your linebacker to be able to do damage control.

There was a big difference from what I saw on the field. I would not take Schaub's performance today over Flacco's Rams performance.

Statment and fan like yourself is the reason why we pay a mediocre QB 120m for no reason. Joe isnt any special. He is slightly better and definately replaceable. While fans like yourself will be contempt with pay a dud QB 28mill next year, i'd rather move on and get my team back on track.

Trust me, I love me some Will Hill and was thrilled to have re-signed him. You can go back and fact check me on that. I was thrilled as anything to land him from the Giants. I truly love Will Hill.

However, he's just not a rangy, athletic center fielder and his anticipation and read and react are subpar for what the Ravens need in those situations.

What a load of nonsense. You act as if acquiring even a remotely decent QB is easy.

No, I don't make the decision to feel contempt or happy paying Joe $18M (if he reaches all his escalators since the guaranteed has run out, I believe). That is the front office.

And if you'd rather move on and get the team back on track, then go talk to Ozzie Newsome, propose your plan, and make it happen. But realize that the Ravens just saw a significant drop off from Flacco to Schaub. There aren't 32 good starting quarterbacks in the NFL and there's maybe only one day one starter in the draft, so please, let me hear the plan.

You know what I think we both think a lot alike and I do like Jimmy Smith I just want to see more from him and yes he is coming off a serious injury. That being said we both know a secondary plays a heck of a lot better with a pass rush and God bless Doom and the rest of the guys but they just are not getting to the QB as much this year with out Sizzle but tonight they were getting some pressure on him. I think we will see Jimmy and Will here for a long time to come too.

We got a great opportunity to groom a QB this draft year. I gave Joe 4Years to show he got it and never complained for the first 4 years. Joe is in his peak years and this is the best he can show and has an overbloated pricetag. I would get a better team overall and have a better QB we can draft rather than expecting we can handle a avg QB with a fat contract and expect a fairytail to land diamond in the rough bargains and draft to surround a dud QB.

Much easier to pay and balance a salary with a promising QB with great cast rather than a avg QB with fat contract and a mediocre team.

I was pleasantly reminded about Terrance West's shiftiness. Liked him in the pre-draft process. I know that it should be taken with a slight grain of salt given that he faced a leaky defense, but I thought he showed that he belonged on an active roster. Had a quality pick up as a pass blocker as well. Liked what I saw out of him and Buck Allen. Loved what I saw out of Mosely in terms of closing. He's looked like a man possessed since the week before. Shareece Wright had a surprisingly good game as well.

I wholeheartedly expect the Ravens to aggressively attack FS and a second CB and the Ravens secondary to really return to form.

well, jimmy is a man corner, often being forced to play zone, its the coaches call, not his.

look at the rare occasion when jimmy is coordinated to play press man, typically in the red zone, he gets a good jam at the line, and stays in the receivers back pocket and plays the ball well. its no coincidence that between the 20s he gives up plays and in the redzone he locks it down, the playbook changes in the redzone and it favors jimmys skillset. dean pees can not, for the life of him, create a gameplan that plays to the strength of his guys, he forces his gameplan down players throats and blames them when they get caught out of place. i defended pees for years but i just cant anymore, he is god awful, he is strikingly similar to cam cameron the way he forces the wrong scheme on the wrong guys.

its so blatantly obvious that 85-90% of the problems this year even up to this game tonight has been the defense. it seemed to slip away from national attention because of the lack of NFL fan interest and 2nd/3rd string QB's starting, but we still had most our starters on defense and STILL looked completely awful.. blown coverage's, missed tackles, etc.

if we dont fire dean pees after this season then i will lose much respect for bisciotti and this organization. its just inexcusable.

the good, bucknasty. ive been waiting for him to get a chance, and he shined against an elite front seven last week, and looked pretty good this week with limited carries. i loved him during the draft process, thought he was a perfect fit, and i think we may have found one of our key guys for the future. i dont think hes a "feature" back but he will make for a great 50/50 split type of backfield i think

The good: The front 7, Will Hill. We have two good RBs it appears(West wasn't bad last year either. He is said to have an attitude problem but now he has a coach that doesn't take his crap). Buck looks like a quintessential Trestman back.

The bad: The secondary excluding Will Hill, Matt Schaub

The ugly: Matt Schaub

Agreed. I think Buck and West will both have an impact going forward.

Yeah Allen and West both looked good. As you said it was against a terrible run defense, but we also had three backups in that OL so that kind of balances out. I'm really liking our RB situation for the future. Forsett, Allen, West, Taliaferro... could we keep 4 RB's? RB and TE groups are pretty stacked with young talent. Now to just get some WR's.

Wright has played great, for a guy picked up off the streets, ever since that rough game vs the 49ers and when Harbs calling him out. It was good to see those two walking off the field together arm in arm tonight.

This team has "no quit" in their vocabulary.  We set an NFL record tonight by winning a game on a blocked FG taken to the end zone for a TD with no time left on the clock!    You gotta love our guys!!!

This game will carry over into next season with a lot of good lessons for our young team...you never give up, perseverance and good work pays off in the end!

Great week of football... B*ady gets frustrated, the Patriots lose, and the Ravens get a win and set a new NFL record!  Love it! :P

Special teams has blocked a kick/punt/extra point in 5 consecutive games and scored 14 points tonight. Shout out to Rosburg and that whole unit.
