[News] Late For Work 11/30: Ravens And Browns Battling For No. 1 Draft Pick?

73 posts in this topic

I hope the Ravens play hard but still lose because I don't want know illusions that they are near being a good team to be in the playoffs. I want them to be humbled enough to have to look deep at what their doing an and doing it with to make changes. This organization has let their arrogance go to their head so bad that they can't see how bad the team really is.Last, Gary Kubiak show that it was not just the players just look at their back up QB.

Why in the world would the Ravens organization try to lose the rest of their games? It would send a terrible message to the players, the coaches, other teams, and most importantly the fans. While we can all have solace in the realization that being on the bottom this year can have some sort of positive spin, as a fan I will choose to believe the impossible could be possible for at least one more night: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/upshot/2015-nfl-playoff-simulator.html?team=bal#cle-bal-12=loss&mia-bal-13=loss&bal-sea-14=win&bal-kc-15=win&bal-pit-16=win&cin-bal-17=loss.

I believe Lloyd Christmas said it best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX5jNnDMfxA.

Well keep in mind Joe had the coaching staffs cream of the crop when the season started and went 3-7, now all the injuries and Schaub has half of what Joe had. I don't expect we'll be winning very many games.

I do not think that we will be as "terrible" as people are making us out to be. What people are not saying is that Schaub will be throwing to players that he has been practicing with all along. Timing will not be an issue. Schaub , with our receivers, have been taking 2nd team and scout team snaps together. Contenders? No. Good? No. Just not as horrible as people say. They will not get blown out Monday night. That being said, Cardinals, Seahawks, different story. JMO

Look at the Carolina Panthers. They had a very bad start to last year and even though they weren't in the run for the playoffs last year they started a winning streak that carried over to this year and now they are the remaining undefeated team in the league. Had the Panthers taken the same mentality that many "pundits" like Nestor Aparicio, Steve Davis, Mike Preston, and a bunch of so-called fans in here, they would probably still be losing with a loser mentality. What they chose to do was not roll over, not quit to get a better draft pick, not deliberately make mistakes, instead they chose to get better, to improve their quality and to develop a culture of winning not losing. To listen to those who say quit and get a better draft pick is a loser mentality and I can see where many who make those comments fall into that category. Shame on those who were patting Ozzie on the back in the preseason and sticking a knife in that same back later in the year saying he has lost it, same people who applauded Harbaugh are now calling for his job, the same people who loved Pees when he was DC of a super bowl team now thinks he couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag. News Flash... The Ravens are fine, we will be back in the hunt next year and we certainly don't need those losers, both media and fans, who feel that we need to fire every one, change everything and start over. Loser mentality for losers.

Just gonna throw this out here, Joe Flacco is a freaking MAN for running two more plays on a torn ACL, and then jogging off the field. His pain tolerance is insane!

1. The offense will struggle. We already know this. This struggle might be partially masked tonight by a defense they are playing that isn't very good.

2. If the defense plays the way its played recently, the game should be competitive. If the defense plays like it did against Cleveland the last time we played them, we lose by double digits.

The defense is still largely going to determine whether we are competitive or not.

What indication is there that the Ravens Defense has not gotten better than 7 weeks ago? (The last time we played Cleveland) I think it has proven to be better than it was.

Jeremy Ross fumbles Raiders’ kickoff return. Ravens recently released him for that very reason.

— Around The NFL (@AroundTheNFL) November 29, 2015

Ross CONTINUES to struggle holding onto the ball.  I guess I can now understand why he was cut.

What we don't know is if he was fumbling/muffing during practice as well as the games.

Agree. It was impressive at the time but every player I have seen go down with the same or similar injury since then has been laying on the field, writhing in pain, with some being carted off the field. Seeing subsequent similar injuries makes me downright amazed that Joe jumped back up, hopped around a little, then simply returned to the huddle to finish the game. Joe is one tough, almost bionic dude to have pulled that off. Edited by salamander

Also, the 1999 Ravens started out 4-8, and instead of going for a high pick, they finished the season on a 4 game win streak, and won the super bowl the next year. However, there are also examples of teams who did tank to get a better pick(whether it was intentional or not), and it worked out for them, too. The Colts are the latest example of that. Personally, I feel that the Ravens have established a winning culture for almost a decade, and nothing that happens in the last 6 games this year is going to change that. I think the Ravens will be right back in contention next year, whether we win a few more or lose out and get the first pick.

No way a guy like John Harbaugh is going to tank for a high draft pick. It is not in his blood. If we lose it is going to be because we were not the better team on Sunday. It does not matter what some fans or pundits want, the Ravens organization does not tank for draft picks. IMHO, I don't even think there is a player in this coming draft that would be worth tanking for anyway. I think we need a LT badly, but I don't see a Jonathan Ogden clone in this coming draft anyway. Don't sweat those people that want to lose for higher draft picks, beside we still have Pittsburgh again on the schedule and I want to sweep them badly!!!!!!.......even if I have to put the whammy on their kicker again ;)

In 2010 the Bengals were 4-12. I guess its the Ravens turn but I always thought/felt we were more like Pitts and they were 4-9 in 1967. The last time they won that few games. Now after Ray and Ed more like Cleavland.

The official team broadcaster for the Patriots (Scott Zolack) during the game accuses the league office of rigging the game by having the refs call it against the Patriots on air. And he doesn't get censured by the league or the team for that. Unreal.

I just want to see the Patriots knocked out of the playoffs as soon as possible this year. Maybe the only thing good about getting flexed out of the Sunday night game (a big deal since I can't watch it in my house now) is that there will be more people rooting against them on the national stage.

WOW both Cleavland wide receivers are out. I wonder if Jimmy and Webb can cover 2nd string receivers?

what do you mean both?

Benjamin's been their best guy all season with either quarterback behind Barnidge, and Hartline is still playing. Gabriel is 3rd string and Hawkins isnt essential

Yes, they started crying foul, and the article on the game results at NFL.com even mentions the ref calls being unfair...it's so funny to watch them be cry babies, and just a week ago they were saying that about us and our ref troubles.

This is a win-win situation for us fans. We get to see our team win a game, and that's always fun. If by chance they don't, we get a better draft pick, and that we need.

We don't need a number one draft pick. Most teams picking that early will be looking for a QB if there is a good one.

Still gonna watch tonight, regardless of everything else.

Yep. No matter what. Coaches and players come an go out the door but the fans are forever more.

I would like to also point out that since the Patriots have had some receivers go down in the past few weeks, Brady has been terrible, and the Pats' offense is averaging about the same points/game and fewer yds/game than the Ravens offense with Flacco, even though Brady has still had Gronk, and the defense has been setting him up with great field position. Aaron Rodgers started out hot without Jordy Nelson, but he has been horrible in the last 5 weeks. The fact that Flacco was able to lead an 11th ranked offense with the lack of weapons he had around him, and give this team a chance to win every game, is pretty remarkable. With any other qb, our offense might be ranked 32nd right now.
