[News] Late For Work 11/30: Ravens And Browns Battling For No. 1 Draft Pick?

73 posts in this topic

90% of pundits picking the Browns to win? That is when you know for sure the Ravens will find it impossible to lose. But, again we figured out a weird way to lose an absolutely 'in the bag' game against Jacksonville! So what do I know?

Let's be generous and be happy for the Browns 15 minutes of fame. When have they EVER been a favorite to win the day's match-up? :D

The "is there a point to try win a game?" comments irk me to no end. I don't want to see the #1 draft pick by far as much as I want to see the Ravens on the field give it their best to win a game. Being realistic, there's not much hope of having many (if any) wins down the line this season, but it'd be tough to root for quitters. This is why I love Harbs. I'm sure he's aware that Ravens record is what it is, their roster is what it is, but if he walks around dejected, it'll be the beginning of the end. You've got to have faith.

To be fair, if the O-line holds, if we can commit to the ground game and Buck Allen shows what he did last week or better and if Schaub is good at completing quick short passes, there's a chance we put some score on the board. Juice could get a TD, that would feel good, as unlikely as it is. Browns are aware of him being a versatile weapon, not just a blocker. However, they can't cover Aiken, Juice and the three TEs all at the same time all the time.

Defensively, secondary are doing better than in the last match-up. If we can finally limit the number of defensive penalties, then the biggest scare is Browns' TE that our ILBs struggled to cover. Browns'll score, but maybe not too often.

Only 6 pundits picked the Ravens to win vs. 43 picks for the Browns. Hope it ticks off and motivates our players to have a landslide of pundits to pick the lowly Browns. I think our chances of winning are decent regardless of what the pundits say, especially if Schaub has some success with this offense.

I think the Ravens will win tonight and Schaub will look good. There is no film on him right now in non preseason games. After tonight though I don't have high hopes. I

I find it very interesting that now that Flacco is not in the lineup all hope is lost according to the talking heads. Mind you this is the QB who didn't receive rave reviews from them to begin with lol. Now he is the do all and end all. Front runners in my book! Go Ravens.

What if Shaub shines and wins every game? How will management handle that, if it happens when Joe comes back next season? That's a problem I'd like to see.

I made a comment last week that Joe was down TE #1 & 2,RB 1&2,WR 1,2,3,5 where Brady was only down WR #1, 2 and RB #1 with both having similar line issues, and he was looking like he was struggling. I wanted to see what he looked like without the people Joe lacked or even just without Gronk. Well as soon as he lost the best TE in the game, he looses the game. All the fans and radio people up here are complaining about the refs and how the injuries are killing them. Yeah right. I'll take a page out of Johnathan Kraft's book, the Patriots are sweethearts.

The question will be is Josh McCown better than Matt Schaub? Stay tuned to find out! I am excited!

Media has hyped this match-up as the 2nd coming of Winston~Mariota battle. Can't wait to watch. lol & jk

Very astute point. Without our "non-elite" qb, who "can't elevate everyone around him" (overlooking Brady being unable to elevate Aiken ), who "just throws jump balls", on his4th oOC in as many years, despite WR #1,2,3, 5, RB #1,#2,TE #1,2 being on IR ; Now our season is done and we can't win. Huh. They will never admit

Well he's the same QB he's been for many years now, and he's got many, many, many years of film for people to look at.

Sweet sweet schadenfreude listening to these Patriots radio people, crying about the officials, crying about injuries, crying about the snow saying the officials are too old and how tterrible it was and it's all the refs fault. I thought the refs did a pretty good job last night though I disagree witha couple calls. It's going to get worse for them with Brady literally screaming at the refs because he has to throw to backups.

Come on, I'm trying to be both positive and realistic....

Well keep in mind Joe had the coaching staffs cream of the crop when the season started and went 3-7, now all the injuries and Schaub has half of what Joe had. I don't expect we'll be winning very many games.

That was a good game last night. Very entertaining to watch a 6-foot-8 QB going against Brady, in the snow. That game was epic, too bad  I fell asleep and didn't see the Broncos comeback.

@MinionHunter... as I was watching the game last night and the Patriots were in a dog fight... I found it comical that the started making excuses for Brady as to why they were about to lose the game... We lost the Defensive leader, the speedster on the outside, not going to account for Pita simply because he has been on the field for the past two years, both offensive play makers.. (Justin and SSS) and the ever revolving door that has become the WR and OL positions.. the ever revolving door at OC... and then you factor in the four games that the refs cost us (Oakland-P.I. call... Arizona-failure to blow the whistle after C2J forward progress had been stopped for 3 full seconds... Browns-Terrible roughing the passer call and P.I. call on Kyle lead to 2 touch downs.. and the Jags several blown calls) we are labeled not a very good team...But the commentators said they are just to injured to over come their short comings.. interestingly enough even with all our short comings we have been highly competitive... I may question Joe's decision at times but I truly have been appreciative of having a player of his caliber on my side... he's taken a band of misfits and gave us a chance to win week in and week out... so nothing but luv for this Guy... Go Ravens

i would have to say this team right now has a chip on their shoulders the size of Alaska...Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon and writing us off....we will miss the playoffs, but through all the injuries, this team has competed in every game we have played...

Eugene Monroe is not reliable enough to be our "Starting LT". I could see us using our pick on Tunsil. Our strength and conditioning coaches need to be assessed because we have had way too many injuries the last few years. This year is no exception.

That would actually be quite awesome, because then Matt Schaub would have a future, and the guy is a good guy and I'd wish him that. But he'd also be out of our price range and become an FA, that hopefully gets picked up elsewhere and we'd get a compensatory pick for him. Based on the play of our players this year. Can't remember how many good players are in their contract year right now, but Ozzie typically does well with the comps when he has them. Tucker, Osmele, Upshaw... anybody else of note?

Strength and conditioning is almost exclusively a player problem.

These coaches only have access to these players for literally less than half a year. Should probably be asking these players what exactly they are doing from February through May/June, because that's when the strength and conditioning should be the main focus.
