Early draft pick in every round

49 posts in this topic

If the team wins three more games that means it is because the team is playing better.  That means our players aren't as bad as we thought and with better health next year we could be in the fight for a playoff spot.

with better health we will be in the fight for a playoff spot next year regardless. Combine that with a high draft position and we will most definitely be back in contention. I'd say we could never have as unlucky of a year as this one but I'd rather not jinx it.

I don't see how you can we are screwed if he messed up in the draft.  If he does we will be back drafting at the top again next year.  Ozzie might not be around to do the drafting though.

Picking in the top 5 two years in a row means you've screwed up the year after the first top 5 pick.

Yup, Ozzie can do damage this draft with all these great assets. Top 5 pick in all rounds and now the ability to trade comp picks, I wouldn't be surprised if we trade back into the end of round 1 or 2 and come away with some high end talent that falls.

Most people are always talking about the early first round draft pick but I think a lot of people are forgetting about the entire draft all 7 rounds meaning if we are slotted to pick early in the first round we will be slotted to pick early in the next 6 rounds as well. Just think an early 2,3,4,5,6 and 7th then Oz can now trade the comp picks. If the Ravens do pick early Oz can really have a chance to build the Ravens with this draft.

I'm sure it's probably been mentioned already, I haven't went through the thread. But Compensatory picks can't be traded.

** correction*** new rule change in talks during December to allow trade of compensatory picks I missed that little nugget of news somehow lol. But it's not official yet.

You know with the way our luck has worked this season, just when the fan base is excited with the prospect of a top draft pick, we will start winning just enough games never to land a top draft prospect. We’ll end up with a 7-9 to 9-7 record, miss the playoffs and also miss a top draft pick. That is the way luck has.

I told my older brother I after we lost to he Jags ( whom he's a fan of ) that I hope we don't screw up the losing season now by winning too many late games. I'd like to see a top 7 pick especially now that Flacco is out. While the win last night vs Browns was a thrill, I'm still hoping we can get a top 7 pick have real options of best player available ( players such as Bosa, Ramsey, Nkemhdiche, Hargreaves or top Offense tackles, Stanley, Tumsel ).

My hopes are in-sync with yours, but don't bank on a top 10 pick. I see us ending up with a 7-9 record at best or a 6-10 record at worst. That might still put us out of top 7 contention the way the other teams are stinking up the joint too!

They just made a new rule about a week ago. Next draft you are allowed to trade comp picks.

Yes but remember the last time we picked at #32?

Matt Elam played well in his rookie season but  was just  bad in his second season. I honestly like to reserve my comment on him because the guy never got the opportunity to  play in his third season due to injuries. It's interesting how high round picks like Arthur Brown, Terrence Brooks, and etc haven't been able to get it yet and only one constant remains which is Dean Pees at defensive coordinator.

Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan, and Carl Davis have all been good in that same time. Sometimes it's just a bad pick.

I was just thinking about Carl and how he came on the scene really hot but has kinda fizzled out since.

He's still a rook. I'm not worried. If he's not more consistent next year I'd be more concerned.

I just want to thank Moderator #3. Let's keep it clean, people.

Well same scouts and Ozzie still in charge of drafting them.   Arthur Brown was a mistake to draft.  Too small to play linebacker in the NFL.
