Early draft pick in every round

49 posts in this topic

Most people are always talking about the early first round draft pick but I think a lot of people are forgetting about the entire draft all 7 rounds meaning if we are slotted to pick early in the first round we will be slotted to pick early in the next 6 rounds as well. Just think an early 2,3,4,5,6 and 7th then Oz can now trade the comp picks. If the Ravens do pick early Oz can really have a chance to build the Ravens with this draft.

I think it is something that is overlooked as well. People can complain about our drafts but we have also drafted at the end of every round and that stuff adds up.

I agree I was thinking about it and I thought Oz can have a chance at a real play maker in every round.

Not to mention we'd essentially have 2 1st ronders if we ended up with the #1 pick since NE doesn't have a pick.

believe me when i say this..this is the most important can't F it up draft since 2008 . Maybe even more. If ozzie lands busts in this draft we are in trouble in the long run. Just pray we lose all our games and rivers/mariota win a game or two.

Agreed there.  Ozzie has the chance to completely rebuild the roster with at least 2 immediate starters who are playmakers, likely 3.  If he gets this draft wrong this team is super screwed.  He can't mess this one up.

Like you said at the very least 2 immediate starters Oz should be able to get that at the very least. Plus other players that can contribute here and there and work their way up the depth chart. Another key to this is cutting away dead weight Right now our WR and secondary both need some serious help plus we need a guy who can get to the passer in the future and guys who can  protect Joe and give him time.

Ozzie Newsome drafted Mosley, Jernigan, Brooks and Gillmore last time we finished with an average record. Mosley and Jernigan looked great last year. Gillmore has been awesome this year. Brooks is an unknown.

I can't imagine what he'll do with all these high picks this year.

Without Cap space in FA it won't make much difference. We also need established high quality FA's ( i.e. not kendrick lewis)

I certainly agree that we need to get some better veterans. When we fix the Flacco deal we'll get some relief. My only question is how it's fixed. Pretty sure it'll get done.

Yes but remember the last time we picked at #32?

Yeah, I'm hoping for either Bosa/Tunsil/Hargreaves in the first, with my fav. guy being Hargreaves(I cannot stop talking about him), then Boyd in the 2nd and Vonn Bell in the 3rd(Hopefully he'll be there), or Darian Thompson. I really like the both of them.

I erased that from my memory.

''Eat Greedy'' got a lot of thumbs up when I went full out war against him.

To be fair, that entire first round was pretty disastrous.

Thank you. Teams around the league are trying to erase the stink of the 13 class.

The last time we earned a top top 10 pick we got Flacco and Rice. Before that, Ngata and before that Suggs. I've chosen to forget about Travis Taylor, but Ozzie's record speaks for itself when he has a top pick in the draft. Look no further than the Browns to see how not to use picks. Yes they made some good selections, but their misses far outweigh the successes.

I'm an ideal world, we get the first, trade down to 4-6 and stockpile picks. Trade our 2nd back up to secure another top player and let Ozzie work with the later picks.

You know with the way our luck has worked this season, just when the fan base is excited with the prospect of a top draft pick, we will start winning just enough games never to land a top draft prospect. We’ll end up with a 7-9 to 9-7 record, miss the playoffs and also miss a top draft pick. That is the way luck has and will %^ck with us this year!

I see your concern but keep in mind we lost numerous starters at skill positions and I doubt we'll magically win games with them

probably if Flacco was still at the helm. If schaub manages to win even 3 games I will be CONVINCED that the football gods are dumping on us and have a serious grudge.

Instead of rooting for us to lose, why not root for other teams to win? That way you don't encourage tanking, root for your team to win, and probably get a high pick. Pretty much what I'm doing lol Edited by PurpleCity5

hey there you go. I'm still not really rooting for us to lose persay....just obviously will be pretty upsetting to not make the playoffs and not get a decent draft position.

Glad you got me there, I accidently put lose instead of win. I think we're destined for a top 10 pick, but at the same time Im rooting for other teams while still rooting for us.

I don't see how you can we are screwed if he messed up in the draft.  If he does we will be back drafting at the top again next year.  Ozzie might not be around to do the drafting though.

If the team wins three more games that means it is because the team is playing better.  That means our players aren't as bad as we thought and with better health next year we could be in the fight for a playoff spot.
