Why Vernon Hargreaves (CB) might be the best player in the Draft

now we are out of range for him

I actually think we're in a really good position for him. Can't see him being picked before 5 or after 10, and even if we do miss out on him, I'm willing to bet Ramsey will still be there.

I think he has a good chance to be there. Sorry, but sweeping the Steelers was worth it.

Agreed. The 2016 Ravens are going to be determined more by the development and health of the players we have. It is unfair and unrealistic to expect rookies to be saviors in my opinion.

And having them potentially missing the playoffs? Even better.

I think it's going to carry onto next season. These guys have not given up and still believe they are a good team. That goes along way between players and coaches.

Hargreaves is still my guy.

Mine as well. I don't like to declare guys who will be a Raven but I got a really good feeling about Hargreaves and I personally believe that the 7-10 range is the sweet spot for him and where he should be falling.

Also, Dallas selected a DB last year, don't think they take another one, 49ers I think will take a QB, Jacksonville could use an OLB, and I think Miami will be interested in a DE after losing Oderick in FA and are bound to lose Olivier Vernon.

I think the Titans might be the team ahead of us most likely to take VH3. They badly need a playmaker at any position on offense or defense. There's no top offensive playmaker that's set to go that high, so they'll take the best DB.

Maybe, but then another guy falls to us.

Honestly, I don't think you're saying this and I'm not implying you are, but with the way I feel people talk at times around here, you'd think we'd be lucky if 20 prospects fall to us at pick #8. I'm so sick of hearing how X player is unlikely to fall to us now. If people actually thought about it, they'd realize that we're getting a high draft pick, so it's likely someone that we mention that's considered a high player falls to us. This happens every single year and I'm still surprised by those who think this.

I've heard people say we likely lost our shot at Ramsey, Hargreaves, Tunsil, Stanley, and Bosa. Sure, that's five guys and we are at 8, but you're telling me there's no surprise pick and no QBs taken high? I just don't buy it. People around here even said they didn't like the idea of taking Hargreaves at #3 or #4 when we had that pick, but now he's unlikely to fall to us? Titans have the #1 overall and I'd frankly be surprised if they selected a CB with that pick and would've said that even before our fall of a couple spots.

I'm just tired of it.

The absolutes this year have been quite crazy.  It's December.  None of these guys are set in stone yet.

I would be shocked if Tennessee took him #1 overall. I don't see many teams ahead of us who will take him.

There's seemingly ALWAYS a guy that shoots up draft boards after the NCAA season and becomes a top-10 pick. Kevin White is a great example. Ezekiel Ansah is another example of this. Eric Ebron is yet another prospect that fits this mold. I am sure I could dig up even more if I wanted. The point is that people need to chill out and just let the process do its thing and realize we will get a very good player this year, whether we're #4 or #10. I think if we stay in the top-10 we're more than fine.

Absolutely.  I think top 8 is the sweet spot for me at least, so far.  I see 6 top players as of now, and I'll always count in a QB and a riser.  As you know though, my opinion will surely change over time.

Like you, I just don't buy the "well this player will never fall" type of talk when we're so far away.

If you want a loud leader who'll be yappy and get fired up and get in everyone's faces, it sounds like Jalen Ramsey is the kinda guy you'd like (granted you never really know what's going on in a lockerroom).

This gif is going to be posted so many times here in the next few months.

What position would be play on this team though? Safety? Which he has no REAL experience with. Or Cornerback? Which he has little experience with?

What position does Tyrann Mathieu play in the Cardinals' secondary? He mixes in CB and S and is one of the best defenders in the game. (I'm not comparing Mathieu and Ramsey in terms of play style.)

The draft forum really exploded early this year. Also, it is best to never say never in terms of the draft. Anything can happen and even the "most pro-ready" prospects can fail.

Ramsey is a far better prospect as a safety than corner.

I agree to that but I even have question about him as a safety as well.

What is it that you don't like about him as a safety? I remember watching the game against Miami 2 years ago, and he single-handedly won the game for FSU. I wouldn't take him as a corner, especially that high, but I think he's a really good safety prospect. What are your reservations about him?

Yeah no one expected Leonard Williams to be there at 6 last year. I'm hoping for a similar fall for Bosa.

Yeah, that kinda fall would be fantastic (for us, at any rate). Hopefully a couple of QBs get taken before us.

I'd rather have someone with a guaranteed impact. Bosa's just muscule, I don't see finesse, speed, IQ or anything. Just strength.

ids the big deal. I like noah spence more than most of these guys anyway

Grim ppl are mad because theres no guarantee at getting a blue chip player and they are likely right.

This thread is moot. We are drafting too low to get him now.

What? We're still probably picking towards the backend of the top 10. Definitely not out of reach considering some teams will probably reach on QBs.
