Why Vernon Hargreaves (CB) might be the best player in the Draft

VH3 is my boy this year.  I've made it known over the years that I love polished players.  There have been very few raw prospects that I've absolutely loved.  I've had an affinity for developed players in the overall technique of their position, and VH3 is exactly that to me.  I've mentioned it many times, but I can't remember a CB coming out in recent years anywhere closed to as polished as he already is.

well its true lol. I hate it too cause on his stats his passes defensed have dropped tremendously, he has 4 or 5 picks. But they all seem to be bad throws or tipped passes

I can understand not seeing San Diego finishing that bad, but they are so decimated with injuries, honestly their injury situation is just as bad as ours and most will say its even worse than ours. 

 

How do we have no chance against Cleveland? Why do people act like Cleveland are word beaters? They only have two wins for a reason, they are not a good team. I think we have a good shot at beating them. After that, I don't think we win another game.

I wouldnt mind we take ramsey/hargreaves ( if bosa is not available) AND we trade back into the mid-late first round for Ogbah or Nassib.

Agreed on all points. VH3 really is a special talent and has plenty more room to grow. I feel that he can be an elite CB at the next level if he allows himself to be so. I don't think any CB comes close to his talent, unless you consider Ramsey to be a CB.

I would love to trade back and at least get an extra 1st and 2nd, and using that 2nd to trade up for Ogbah or Lawson.

To be fair, I think they may not have two of their WRs in Gabriel and Hawkins, which does affect their success. That means the Ravens could roll coverage to stop Benjamin with extra safety help & Barnidge.

Steve Smith was out that game, I honestly believe we would have won if he were there. Our offense was atrocious in the 2nd half, we really missed him.

im still not sure how corner isn't considered as much a need as pass rusher, we had Suggs Doom and McPhee playing great last year and we still got decimated through the air especially when Jimmy went down. If Hargreaves turns out to be the revis type shutdown corner he looks like in college that would open things up to blitz more, get a little more creative on defense. I'm not saying VH3 will be a better player than Bosa or vice versa,but both need to be considered because they both play a position of need.

We absolutely need a CB. I mean, Jimmy is having his problems, Webb hasn't been the same since that ACL tear, Will Davis is out for the year with an ACL tear himself(Who I really liked) and anyone we relied to step up have been a complete disappointment. Not to mention depth at CB has been a huge problem for us lately, I mean lets not forget we had Dominique Franks out there last season for goodness sakes! That says enough.

I'm torn between corner and pass rusher. We need a replacement for Suggs and soon dumervile. Suggs should have his snaps limited from here on out. We need him fresh if we want to get in the postseason so bosa would help here.

With the Cb if vh3 a there I would've be too upset if we got him there, he seems ready to go from day one. If Ozzie signs someone like Sean smith I can live without getting haregraves

This is what I believe. 

 

Tunsil, Bosa, and Hargreaves will be on our top 3, in order. I think Tunsil will be gone and I project we'll be picking at 5 which will make Bosa unavailable as well. I'd call up the San Francisco 49ers or the Philadelphia Eagles and tell them if they want Jared Goff or Paxton Lynch(If he's there) then they will have to cough up a future 1st, and a 2nd round pick. I would trade back and grab Hargreaves in the 1st. Before the night is over I would use the original 2nd round pick to trade back up for Ogbah, Myles Jack, or Shaq Lawson. Crazy thought(That is very unlikely to happen as of now), what if Ramsey himself drops similarly to how recent safeties have dropped? It's been quite a while since a safety last went into the top 10. Eric Berry was the last safety to go into the top 10, what if teams begin to doubt Ramsey's ability as a natural coverage safety, or what if they have concerns of a bust factor there? In that case, I would def. scoop him up like its no one's business if he fell into the mid-late 20s. Though I feel that as of today he's going into the top 10, you never know how things truly pan out.

 

Anyways, I would use the original 2nd to trade back into the 1st, and use the 2nd round pick from a trade to get Tyler Boyd. That's how I would attempt to take a crack at it. Imagine getting Hargreaves, Lawson/Ogbah, and Boyd in the same draft. I would go insane.

Like I said FA will be just as important as the draft this year. There are some very good secondary options in FA but no so much in the OLB options..

I think the opposite for Edge rushers, there are some quality options like Mike Neal, Nick Perry, Tamba Hali...and then the cap cuts like Paul Kruger. I think we have cheaper options at edge rusher which is why I think we go that route via FA.

Thats a good thing, the fact that a guy can be that polished and pro-ready at such a young age is remarkable honestly. Iv heard people say that if he entered last years draft, he would have been a top 10 pick. Thats insane.

Yeah but I can't see us drafting a CB if we ended up with the #1 pick. It's either Bosa or Tunsil if that's the case.

If we ended up at #1 id only trade back for Hargreaves, I'm talking around #5-7 we take him. If we could trade back get an extra 1st and VH3 I'd be jumping out of my seat.

But it's never that easy. Let's go with the hypothetical we end up moving back to 7. Whose to say we lose out on all the elite talent at that point. This draft is very top heavy. After Bosa, Tunsil, VH3, Ramsey, Stanley, and Smith there is a considerable drop off.
