Week 12 Discussion (Other NFL Teams)

575 posts in this topic

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Nothing says Thanksgiving like Turkey and Football! As we enter week 12, the only tow undefeated teams can clinch a playoff spot, while the Patriots can clinch the AFC East. While too much has to happen for them to clinch a playoff spot, it is likely the Patriots clinch the East.

Defeated or Undefeated?

Panthers @ Cowboys: Tony Romo is 6-2 on Thanksgiving, with the only losses coming to the Eagles last year and in 2012 when RG3 was still starting. Romo showed why he is important to Dallas in the victory against Miami, but will have a harder time against the Carolina D. Panthers go to 11-0.

Patriots @ Broncos: For the first time in a long time, we don't get the yearly Br*dy vs Manning matchup the media loves to hype. Instead we get Br*dy vs Osweiler 1, and Osweiler looks to lead Denver to victory and stop the Patriots from going 16-0. The Denver D should contain Br*dy so it will be up to Osweiler if the Broncos win or not.

* Patriots can clinch the AFC East if both the Jets and Bills lose even before the Sunday Night Game.

Playoff Implications:

Vikings @ Falcons: The Atlanta Falcons under Dan Quinn started out hot but have faltered after starting 5-0. They are now 6-4 and hanging on to playoff hopes. The Vikings meanwhile look to stay with the Packers after that loss last week. If the Packers win the division, the H2H tiebreaker could go to the winner of this game.

Rams @ Bengals: The Bengals are slipping. They are now 8-2 after losing the past two games and if the Broncos sustain winning with Osweiler, they could lose the number 2 seed. The Rams lost to the Steelers and Ravens by a combined 5 points, so that means they play the Bengals tough right?

Steelers @ Seahawks: The Steelers find themselves at 6-4 heading into a West Coast trip with the Seahawks. They need a win to keep a float in the AFC Wild Card Race but Seattle is also looking for a wild card spot in the NFC.

Bills @ Chiefs: Here we have another potential game that could determine the Wild Cards at the end of the year. Chiefs have been on a roll winning 4 in a row, sitting with the 6th seed while just like Atlanta, the Bills have faltered after their great start.

Giants @ Redskins: The NFC East race could get a lot tighter after Sunday if the Redskins happen to beat the Giants. With the Eagles falling apart under Chip Kelly, it looks like the Redskins could be the only team standing between the Giants and the NFC East title.

Dolphins @ Jets: Seems a lot of teams have faltered since having a hot start, the Jets are another. The Jets need this win to stay in the AFC Wild Card hunt and to delay the Patriots winning the East by another week or so.

The Dirty South(AFC Edition)

Saints @ Texans: Not sure what has gotten into Houston's Defense lately but they have looked strong the past two weeks. Winners of three in a row host the New Orleans Saints as they head into this week tied with the Colts at 5-5.

Bucs @ Colts: The Buccaneers started off slow but have picked up some steam as of late. The Bucs find themselves at 5-5 in the thick of the NFC Wild Card race. The Colts with Matt Hasselbeck look for another win but the Bucs may just make it tough for them.

Chargers @ Jaguars: Is it quite possible the Chargers have fallen off the map so much that the Jaguars can win against them on Sunday? I say yes but I still give the QB match up to the Chargers as I think Rivers will do enough to beat the Jaguars. Then again.... let's say the Colts and Texans lose dropping to 5-6, Jaguars win, we have a three way tie for first at 5-6 heading into week 13.

Cardinal's DB Mathieu has come out in support of benching Kaep for Gabbert:

"That's not to take anything away from Kaepernick, but it seems like Gabbert has a little bit better grip on what's going on. If he gets in a situation, he knows where the ball needs to go. He's a hell of a passer. I think he's underrated when you talk about how well he can throw the football," Mathieu told reporters Wednesday via CSNBayArea.com.

"You don't pick up those same things with Gabbert. He's better in the pocket. He has a better feel for coverages. It seems like he can get to the line and see a coverage and then go to a different play. Or, see a coverage and not throw the ball. You can see Gabbert's maturity and the different things he does well that Kaepernick doesn't do well."

It just seems that once the OOOHHHH & AHHHH of the Scrambling QB gets figured out, and they don't know how to be a pocket passer is the end of that. It seems everything reverts back to non-scrambling Pocket QBs, hence why Kirk Cousins is starting in Washington and why Gabbert replaced Kaepernick. Cam is really the only QB who was a scrambling QB that figured out how to be a pocket passer and that's why he's so successful and why the Panthers are 10-0.

I think the main difference between the good and bad mobile QBs is that the good ones are always looking downfield to throw the ball and will run only if they're all covered or if they know they can get a quick first down. Aside from Cam there's Big Ben, Flacco, Rodgers, and Taylor that are all capable of running but they prefer buying time for their WRs.

If the Eagles keeps losing, have to wonder if they would fire Chip Kelly before the season ends?

If I were an Eagles fan I'd be pissed. Chip comes and trades away some of their most iconic players, the team tanks, and he might just run back to college.

I don't understand that call by the Eagles before the half. The whole game you have been backing off allowing Detroit to thrive on short passed and on a 3-17 you decide to press? Thats really questionable. Not to mention you leave a rookie CB against one of the best WRs of this era all alone?

Yeah leaving Rowe in press against Calvin Johnson with no help is not a smart move. Just left him alone on him again.

These Eagles can't tackle to save their lives.

Rowe forgot to call Megatron old before the game

Should have made the 3rd TD on a previous play - I can't believe Maxwell was not called on that.

Just happy I am not going against either him or Stafford in fantasy

In one of my leagues Johnson is on the bench, Stafford on waivers.

They have given up on their HC.
