[News] What You Missed vs. Rams

22 posts in this topic

When will the Refs call a game evenly for us. They don't seem to see the fouls on our opponents, but notice ours and even make a few up as they go.

We see this every week. Shame.

Jensen was, in my opinion, guilty of tripping. Tough to see in that video, but I remember seeing it during the replay on tv. Also, I don't see a problem w/the block on Will Hill. Plays/blocks like that are made on almost every kick, by us and others. Enough whining!!

At the end of the year i am going to make a tape of all the horrible calls made against us and send it into the leauge, to our front office and to the damn president if i have to. We are getting screwed every game and im tired of it. I wouldnt mind it if the same calls were being called against our opponents, but they never do.

Coaches are not supposed to criticize the refs or they will be subject to significant penalties from the NFL. I am really glad that Harbs has become more and more openly critical of the refs regardless of the threat of fines because the refs more than deserve it. Other coaches in the league have also made comments recently and I hope Harbs and his colleagues from different teams continue to defy the NFL with publically criticizing the refs. This is not a new problem so I am glad the coaches are getting fed up enough to address it to the media. NFL has not put a dent in this problem and if it takes embarrassing and criticizing the league publically, so be it. The NFL needs to get off its backside and fix this sub-standard officiating.

Jensen didn't intentionally trip the guy. In fact, the player didn't even trip over him. Jensen went out for a cut block and missed, and the defensive guy actually places his hand on Jensen and hops over him as Jensen is bouncing up off the turf. I don't know about you, but whenever I would dive for a play in baseball or get tackled or dive playing football, the natural instinct is to bend at the knees. Nobody planks when they fall to the ground unless they are knocked out.

As for the cheap shot, there  actually is something very wrong with it because the NFL outlawed it. So on a play where the officials can see enough to call three separate penalties on the Ravens, how come they missed the one that caused the personal foul call against the Ravens? They also called a block in the back and a holding penalty as well? Seriously? Then there is the ticky-tack defensive pass interference on Jimmy Smith that went for the longest play of the day for the Rams. Then one of our guys gets completely mauled on a pass and there is no flag. When the commentators; who usually don't show a lot of love for the Ravens when it is a national broadcast, are questioning flags not being thrown then you know something isn't right.

NFL needs to do something about this. Officials are directly determining the outcome of games on MISTAKES. Everybody makes a mistake, but when you have an officiating crew that blew the call in the Jacksonville game that is the SAME CREW as the one that blew a call in a game a couple of years ago against the Browns that also cost the Ravens a win...then those guys don't deserve to have jobs in the NFL anymore. Clearly they can't do their job properly.

I am so glad Brandon Williams wasn't just a hype machine. Seeing the youtube video of him doing the handstand was really impressive. A guy that weighs in around 330-350lbs being strong enough and athletic enough to do that sort of thing is amazing in its own right. Drafting him made losing Ngata no big deal. It was clear in the last couple of seasons that Ngata has lost something and wasn't the same guy he was in his earlier days.

The game of football starts in the trenches and when you win at the point of attack you put yourself in good position for great things to follow. Williams pretty much shut down Gurley single handed. Another "Guy" flying under the radar was thought to be just another "Guy" is DE Lawrence Guy. He's getting starter snaps and really responding well. He is second in tackles on the D-Line only to Williams and he's tied for second on the team with 3.5 sacks. Since the Ravens use a 3-4 set up your DE's are more run stoppers anyway and the rush comes from the outside backers. Anything you get from the interior line is gravy. So there are two parts of your D-line that are checked off. Now you need a replacement for Chris Canty. That could be either Jernigan or Carl Davis if either of them step up. We're set at line backer on the inside with Smith and Mosley for another season, but the Ravens need to look for Smith's replacement soon. One big area of need are replacements for Suggs and Dumervil. We're also set to lose Courtney Upshaw. Upshaw is solid, but he's not the type of player we need for this type of defense. He's pretty good edge against the run, but he usually doesn't get home as a pass rusher.

Then there is the secondary. Looks like Will Hill if he can lay off the drugs is the answer at one safety spot and we're still looking for his dance partner. Is that a healthy Matt Elam or Brooks next year? Maybe it is Lardarrius Webb? But that means you need to have a healthy Jimmy Smith and another good corner.

Makes no sense whining about the refs we all know the Ravens gotta beat the team they are playing and beat the refs! I know what i didn't miss was Joe throwing two more INTs but they will say it's the person trying to catch the ball fault! NOT! Oh yeah where was this at after the pats game where it could clearly show everyone the safety was 5yds from Torrey before Joe threw our season and Triple " S " and the Ravens Super Bowl away! Yup I'm still STEAMING from that, Super Bowls are hard to come by and now look at our dilemma! Smh

The biggest thing is what Joe missed, he should have been paying attention to his surrounding instead of watching the play down the field.

Brandon Williams is an animal and a pillar to rebuild this great defense. With him, Mosley, hill, a healthy JS, Jernigan, and guy we have a pretty solid young group of players. I'm praying, absolutely praying we land Bosa or Ramsey in the first. We need tier 1 talent to make this defense a top 5 unit again

I wonder about the late hit penalty on Mosley, where the receiver went to the ground, rolled and came up. Did the whistle blow before Mosley hit him? I'm sure that, after the Arizona game, all of the Ravens players will play to the whistle regardless of whether or not a player looks like they are down.

It's been apparent for a long time that you are not a fan of Joe Flacco. It's, also, been apparent that you are, and were when he was here, a big fan of Tyrod Taylor. I, also, liked Taylor, and I thought that he would win the starting job at Buffalo. I'm very glad that he did, and I am happy for him. That said, Joe Flacco is our QB and, despite your opinion of him, if you are truly a Raven fan perhaps you should back him just a bit more. Quite frankly, even though I like/liked Taylor, I Never, for One moment thought that he should have been our QB over Flacco. Joe is the superior talent. The honest truth is that Tyrod is playing for a better team than Joe is and has better weapons at his disposal. That Does make a Big difference. If you can't realize that playing year after year with way inferior receivers affects a QB's stats, performances, and sometimes even mental condition, then I suspect that you, yourself, have never played under such adversity. Actually, Joe ha shown an incredible ability to Not let his continual lack of adequate weapons get inside his head. He Never complains. He Always puts blame on himself, Even when things aren't his fault. And his success rate far outweighs what it should be given his surrounding players. It's OK to be a Tyrod Taylor fan, but if you truly are a Raven fan, I urge you to try a little harder to give our own QB a little love and understanding. Just one fellow fan's thought. No harm implied or meant at all.

I'd bet a nickel that Matt Elam will not be a starter for the Ravens unless everyone else is injured. But I have a question: Is Jimmy Smith "hurt" or did he just get paid and playing on a team going nowhere this year?

I see a lot of people complaining about the refs. I agree. I watched the Pats and Bills, I noticed very few flags being thrown. It was startling because you could clearly see, off sides, illegal motion, holding all over the place etc. Pretty much what you see in any other game. How come way over half of those fouls were not called and no one said much about it. INTERESTING.......

You should know by now that the Ravens are on every officials radar and that's the way it has been all season. Paid off maybe but certainly unfair nit picking on Ravens. Why? Guess we will never know.

This season was supposed to be the year Matt Elam was in make or break mode...then he tore his pectoral. I hope he is spending the time digesting the play book and doing as much working out as he can to come into camp next season in his best shape ever because I think the Ravens will give him one last look. But, just like they did this season, they should look for a steady veteran to bring in just for insurance. Brooks would be getting a longer look if he could stay healthy. The fact that Webb is getting snaps at safety now is pretty telling. If the Ravens can get two good corners (a healthy Jimmy Smith), and a free agent or top draft pick, then maybe this secondary will start playing well again.

As for Jimmy Smith he had a Lis Fran fracture. I never knew what that was until I saw it popping up all the time in a Madden game I was playing years ago. The Lis Franc is the portion of bone in the top portion of your foot right where your foot meets your ankle. For many players it was a career ending injury. The fact that Jimmy is back and playing within a year is encouraging but you can tell he's just not healthy. He still has some straight line speed, but he can't plant, cut, or turn like he used to. Speed is helpful at corner, but you have to be really athletic and agile so you can change your directions in almost an instant. Hopefully he will be fully recovered for next season.

Officials Only look for penalties against the Ravens for the most part. So many penalties go unflagged against their opponents it's ridiculous.
