[News] John Harbaugh Pinpoints Problem On Justin Tucker's Misses

27 posts in this topic

Makes me wonder when we have 4th and 1 and we are staring at a 50+ yard FG at home (a place Tucker has notoriously struggled in from long distance) in a scoreless game why we aren't going for it?

Harbaugh is right. Tuck wasn't as accurate this season as he was in pervious years. The team has a down year as a whole, but I don't see why our HC can't criticize even one of our best players. Pretty sure, that's his job. Especially with his special teams coach background.

Harbs job isnt to criticize his players in the media.

Oh, just like when Harbaugh called Perriman's injury a bruise, and he'd be out for a couple of days. Yeah, I'll take his assessment of Tucker's kicking - NOT.

I hope Ozzie doesn't make the same mistake again. If Tucker's contract is too expensive, don't do it. I would love to have him back but he's had his share of misses this season. Some of them easy ones. Spend money on QB, pass rushers, CB, WR.

You mean for like what is coming in 2016 when Jimmy Smith, Webb, and Monroe are after Joe in salary cap and before Yanda, Suggs and Dumervil type contracts? 7 Million for Jimmy Smith.

Everything is mental for the kicker. And I have a very tiny hunch that the Ravens are not all there mentally this year. Just a tiny hunch.

Harbaugh is not a doctor. He did not diagnose Perriman's injury, and he is not qualified to do so. He was only telling us what the doctors told him. Fans should get over that already and stop judging him by a misdiagnosis that the doctors made, that he had nothing to do with, besides being the messenger.

I don't know how straight you can kick it with those winds. I noticed the wind blowing left to right, mostly, though it was swirling a bit too, and on the winning kick, he started it farther left than the missed kicks and it blew right, but made it through and ended up outside of the right post as it hit the net. He adjusted well and hit the one that mattered in the end. He won the game and that's what we want to see. Good job, Tuck!

But he WAS a special teams coach, so I'd have more trust in his assessment of what he saw of Tucker than what he expects players' recovery to be :)

PS: Sorry for the neg, I wanted to click the green one, but missed.

Where's the article when Harbaugh pin pointed the reason Flacco keeps throwing interceptions, I mean he's telling everyone what they doing wrong, at times yelling at them on the sideline. So is it Flacco is emotionally fragile or is it Harbaugh knows that will put his self out of a job? 8 out of 10 games with interceptions and a 3-7 record.

Can't blame Tuck - face it, without him, we would be 0-10. 3 end of game winners (our only wins thus far).

So....it's Tuckers' fault we aren't currently in line for the top pick? Hmmmm....now we know who to blame!!

I don't know if the way this season has gone could be affecting Tuck. Harbs talks about mechanics, and that's certainly a big factor. But, kicking is a lot of a mental thing too. Confidence means a lot. I still believe in Tuck. Wonder if this "off" season (for him) will affect what he'll get from the Ravens in his contract negotiations. Not much has been too great about the Ravens this year, but I still want Tucker back next season.

Tucker should practice at M&T bank, every day, from 1pm until 8pm. My thoughts....Put in a full day of work against your nemesis.

Unfortunately, the CBA restricts the amount of time a player can practice at any team facility. That's why Tucker had to practice at Patterson Park this summer.

I told Tucker at Patterson park that the team look good this year, now looking back I pulled a Harbaugh on him, Mybad Tucker.

Maybe getting inside of 50 yards is the answer? Offense?

Agree. If Matt and Buck Can step it up as starters maybe Justin will have easier kicks. He can kick it from longer but it is always nice to have the kicks within 50 yards.

Ridiculous to even worry. So Tuck is 22 of 28 and he has made all but 1 under 50. The Ravens offense (Trestman) play to set up FG's in the 50's. Tuck has attempted 8 of 28 in the 50's, so essentially 30% of his FG attempts are 50 ?!?!? This means that the Ravens routinely play for a 55 yard field goal. That's a pretty ridiculous strategy.
