[News] Late For Work 11/24: Baltimore Named As Possible Landing Spot For Colin Kaepernick

81 posts in this topic

I hope they are saying Renner for the PS to make sure he is not gone. I think that Trestman wanted David Fales (did he draft him?) but the Bears cut Clausen and put Fales on the 53 man so he wouldn't get taken off their PS. They were really quick about it too.... They must not like Marc

Kaepernick: Thanks but no thanks. We'll bring in someone else. And if we couldn't, I'd rather see Koch give it a try.

Keenum: That was unbelievably stupid of his coaches. I'm no pro, but after Jernigan hit him and he fell to the ground, I shouted out loud "That's a concussion!" even before he tried to get up from the ground and looked like he downed a bottle of vodka on a stag do. When your QB is getting sacked, please don't tell me the automatic thing for all your coaches and teammates is anything other than seeing your QB get up and do a quick visual check if he's okay. The spotter has to see that. The officials has to see that. And the coach DEFINITELY has to see that! Unbelievably stupid and irresponsible. Players pumped with adrenaline and fighting for the win are not the best to self-evaluate their ability to keep on playing and there should be someone responsible do that for them. Their stupidity helped us win the game, I doubt Foles would have fumbled quite as easily (didn't Keenum trip?).

I liked what I saw from Mosley and some other defense guys last night. Both Brandon Williams and Timmy Jernigan looked well. I loved Jernigan winding people up :) We need a good defensive player with visible sass!

IDK.... I hope that Kapernick is not in our plans moving forward. I say lets see how Schaub handles his opportunity and if he shows well, lets re-sign him for another 1 year contract. I like the idea of bringing Bryn Renner back... I think he showed a lot of promise and ability. (I also would love to see us bring QCouples in- he has half a year to show us what he could do)> I thnk that Z Smith has looked good in his limited opportunities???? why aren't we giving him a little more????

How about lets just let bryn renner have the backup job... He might have been the best backup qb in the preseason this year... extremely solid in our system

Monroe is soft. I went to training camp and was surprised at how skinny his legs were and how little effort he put into every drill that was run. Its sad when on the radio when the Ravens were doing bad the pundits speculated that it would only be one or two games that Monroe comes back that he will be injured again and sure enough. There is no place on the Ravens for someone who plays like he is in a flag football league. We want players who play like Ravens, not who look for ways to sit at home and collect a paycheck

Clausen is horrible Ponder looks to be the best of the worst.

There is plenty of good LT's in the draft this year it wouldnt hurt one bit to take one obviously Monroe cannot be relied upon.

Keenum was so woozy that he couldn't get up, yet every trainer and coach on the Rams let it go or didn't see it? C'mon man. Even worse, the spotter was the 1 independent medical person specifically designated to pull any player for concussion protocol if they show any signs of concussion and he fails to intervene? Keenum grabbing his head and rolling on the turf, unable to get to get to his feet right away is obvious to everyone except the people responsible to protect the player? Even if Keenum told the trainer "I'm fine", like many injured athletes do in the heat of battle, he obviously was not fine and there's really no acceptable explanation or excuse for anyone responsible who should have taken the obvious step of getting him off the field to be evaluated.

Man, it would be like watching those McDonald's adds after the Superbowl! Do Not Bring in Kap - stick with Renner; maybe look in the draft.

Matt "Pick 6" Schaub 's signing is the most baffling one this year to me. What do we get out of him? If Flacco is gone, our season is done. The front office knows this. They should rather "invest" in a young QB that might eventually take over. 1 year deals on a veteran QB who is bad doesn't make sense.

Tirico's comment just makes me cringe. We're now on the level of the Browns and are expected to engage in unwatchable football.

The idea behind signing a vet as a backup QB, rather than some trial balloon youngster was the possibility of being a contending team (I know it is hard to remember that's what we were ...) and having Joe go down for a few games. If you throw a guy out there who has zero experience, you're almost guaranteed to lose every game he plays, no matter the opponent. That very well could kill your entire season. If you have a guy that has some real game experience, you can hope to split those games and remain in contention.

Now, you can argue that we picked the wrong vet QB, but that's the rationale. That is not to say your approach cannot be tried - and we've done it with TT in his rookie season. But when you do, understand that any QB injury - not just a season ender - can turn a season of playoff contention into a season where you sit at home in January.

Now with Joe and Justin being out it will be fun to root for our rag tag team of backups to come together and shock the world. Only happens in the movies?

The Monday Night Football game vs the Browns will probably have the lowest rating of the season.  Manziel vs Schaub, yeah the world is going to tune in for that.  NOT!!

Everybody should just chill on the Kaepernick idea because it is not going to happen. Sure, stranger things have happened but this surely won't. Harbaugh connection or not, what was written was that Kaepernick was a bad locker room guy. So much that the players even said that they wanted a change. To me, that's the main reason not to bring him here along with the fact that he just isn't that good and he would be very expensive. We just aren't a run option kind of team either.

OK, so, one more time...  The Ravens signed Schaub #1, because he played under Kubiak for a number of years and had the offense down pat.  He had the ability to refine the playbook, and teach others on the offense how it worked.  He was signed because of his "brain"....  #2, because he had success a couple of years in the league and was a starter against a team that we had difficulty with a number of times.  Yes, he had a couple of decent years as a starter in the league.

That being said.  Not agreeing that he should be a starter for us.  Just making the statement about why he is here.

Lol the people thinking we would ever give up on Flacco for Kap are crazy. I'd rather have Flacco throwing passes from a wheelchair before we had Kap and his salary on this team. Eventually any iron man will get hurt, but it sucks that it was this injury. Get well Flacco and put on your Christmas list that you would like Perriman, SSS, back and maybe a new toy in the draft. 2016 will be our redemption

Why not just draft a backup QB late rounds? Thats what successful franchises do.

They are as good at drafting QB's as they are at drafting WR's..

Too many variables to say who will fill in for back up qb. And back up could very well become starting qb if Shaub is less than effective. That's why the Ravens should pick well and perhaps consider a 3rd qb on the roster from now on.

Y not everyone just give Schaub a chance? They put him on the roster because they believed just and case Joe gets hurt he could step right in and play. People shooting down the idea that he is playing qb for us before he even threw a pass for us. Me for one is hoping that he does a great job which I think he would. I just hate when the supposedly true Raven fans doubt our team. For all of the doubters, if Schaub comes out and have great games keep your comments to yourself and kick rocks.
