NFL Officiating

Who cares honestly, it's two irrelevant teams playoff-wise and this game had no major implications other than the fact that now they get a better draft pick and we don't.

Which is also irrelevant because Browns cannot pick well.

there's two people from the 2 most recent pages of the brown's thread mentioning it.

arnie..The forum site article backed Will Hill in bounds but the best part is we recieved a W.  For once this season its seems we had calls go our way.

That crew  that officiated the  SF-Cardinals game where the QB sack was determined "roughing the passer" was finally displined by the NFL.  That had to be the most inept work so far.

I'll bet its' another QB and one that won't succeed or would be injured.  Thats the luck the Browns have.

Bottom Line: The officiating has turned fans sour about the NFL brand   Many friends and my son prefer college because of  NFL product channeled through the refs. I venture to say NFL shop sales are down for the 17 teams below .500.

just popping in to say LOL. Don't think there is much better than a "know it all" getting shown to be incorrect on these boards

I just popped in to say +35 because now we are hearing NOTHING from him after the league confirmed there was no issue.

I'd honestly like to hear an, "I was wrong."

It was posted at least twice in other discussions of this subject. Please let it go now.

Dean Blandino says officiating is not getting worse. They've been averaging 4.5 mistakes per game for several years. 4.5! If I had an error rate of 4.5 per day (actually, for 3 hours), I wouldn't have a job for long.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2015/12/02/referees-officiating-dean-blandino-refs/76687956/

Blandino must have failed math when he was in school if he thinks that's a good number. Let's do the math...

16 Games Weekly

4.5 Errors Per Game

The Officials are making a grand total of 72 errors PER WEEK. Now of course that number is lower if you factor in the bye weeks and that there 3-5 teams on a bye in a single week. With 4 weeks in a month, you times that by 72 errors per week, and in a given month these officials are making 288 errors per month.

If I made 4.5 errors on a single day at my job, I wouldn't last long at my current job. Man I need to figure out how to become a NFL official so I know I can make mistakes on the job and still have that job despite those mistakes.

I figured I move this whole face mask, not a face mask over here because Dean Blandino has made a statement about it and PFT also says that how the rule is stated, the Lions never actually drew a face mask penalty.

Dean Blandino's Statement on Twitter: “Hand up to the mask, quick grab with finger and head gets turned. At full speed official is going to make that call almost every time.”

Article from PFT:

“No player shall grasp and control, twist, turn, push, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction,” Rule 12, Section 2, Article 14 states.

The rule comes with an important caveat: “If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.”

Lions defender Devin Taylor grazed the facemask of Aaron Rodgers, at best. If there was any grasping (and there wasn’t), Taylor immediately released the facemask.

From PFT's perspective, they say this call shouldn't have been made and again we start the week with a questionable call deciding a game. Dean Blandino's statement just makes Bill Belichick's point about penalties being reviewable more and more on point. "At full speed", meaning if there was a way for the officials to review the final play to determine if there really was a face mask penalty and judging from what PFT quoted from the rule book, the official could have reviewed it and reversed it saying there was no flag for face mask and that is the end of the game.

yeah, "disciplined" by being reassigned to the Pats game. Their reaction was hilarious: "After the past two games, you’d think the league would be mobilizing to find a way to ensure the Patriots get a crisp officiating crew."

Because, lord knows they deserve better than the rest of us, and the league should be ensuring that happens. Nauseating.

I wonder if NFL officials have Kraft company products in their homes
