Way Too Early Mock Draft

52 posts in this topic

Title says it all. We are one of the worst teams right now so I just thought it would be cool to cast my lot into the Ravens mock draft talk

R1 Trade w/ the Bears for their 1st this year, next year, this years second, and this year's fourth. I have no clue if this seems like a good enough value, but I think if Oz has the chance to trade down then he will if it means we get a bunch of picks.

Round 1 Pick 15 Ravens Select: Laquan Treadwell WR Ole Miss

The best Wr in the class in my opinion and would be a great compliment to Perriman's speed. Good size, good strength, great hands, deceptive speed, and surprisingly good after the catch for a guy his size.

Round 2 Pick 37 Ravens Select: Carl Nassib DE/OLB Penn State

We need a pass rusher to groom along with Za'Darius, and I think with a little bit more training this guy will be a monster. He is strong, quick off the line, and smart. All he needs to do is sit behind Suggs for a year, learn the craft and start wreaking havoc.

Round2 Pick 45 Ravens Select: Kendall Fuller CB Virginia Tech

He was probably gonna be a mid to late first round corner, but with his injury he falls to us. He has all the physical talents you want in a corner. He reminds me of his brother a lot but the main difference between the two coming out was that Kyle Fuller was a little bit more refined. However, I think that if Kendall becomes more consistent he could be better than his brother. Not related but he is from Baltimore so it would be cool if he was here.

Round 3 Pick 81 Ravens Select: Karl Joesph S West Virginia University

This guy is relentless, and he just about everything you want. He can cover, he has swagger (which is something this secondary needs), he can tackle, and he hits like a mack truck. We need another safety to play beside Will Hill. I think they could be one of the best duos in the league.

Round 4 Pick 102 Ravens Select: Antonio Morrison ILB Florida

Its obvious that Arthur Brown has been a bust. The fact that he can't get playing time even when our defense is struggling is quite pathetic, so here is another ILB who is fast and can cover pretty well. He suffered an injury last year, but was able to rehab quickly and play at a high level since returning

Round 4 Pick 107 Ravens Select: Halapoulivaati Vaitai OT TCU

Good run blocker and a good pass blocker. He would basically be insurance for when Monroe goes down. I cannot stand Hurst at tackle anymore. This guy has the length the height and the strength to be a very effective LT with some grooming.

How much did the name impact that last choice?

Not gonna lie. He made the list in part because his name is so interesting. It was terrible typing it though; i messed up like 3 times. He is still a good player though.

If we trade back and Ogbah is there, I'm taking him over Treadwell and then I'm taking Boyd with our 2nd. That's the ideal draft.

agreed.

I don't know about trading back that far. I'm sure some other teams would be interested and I think we could stay in the top 10 while trading back. If they're the only team giving up a 1st then I'm fine with it, but I still prefer to stay in the top 10. I guess you can say the extra 2nd is nice, but I'd prefer to get one of the talent, Ramsey or Hargreaves. I think you trade back if Bosa and Tunsil are gone.

I also wouldn't like Treadwell pick. I feel that the 2nd round is the sweet spot for a WR. I'd rather wait till then. Just curious, who do you think will be there? I like Shaq Lawson a lot, I'd love to have him there. Is Ogbah there, I think he would be a Raven at 15. There's plenty of guys that I feel would be better at 15. I like Treadwell, don't get me wrong, I just think the 2nd round is a much better spot.

While I definitely wouldn't complain with Ogbah and Boyd, I think that Treadwell and Nassib could be just as good if not better. Treadwell to me is basically a better version of Boyd and while Nassib isn't as good as Ogbah I think he could eventually develop into a player as good as him.

I think Lawson would be there, I still think Ogbah would be there, I could also see Nkemdiche (I'm certain I butchered that), and maybe Ronnie Staley. I was basically trying to spice up the draft I guess because most people have us taking a rusher or a DB R1 and a WR R2. Also a little side note, but most draft websites that I have seen have projected Ogbah to be a middle or late 1st round guy. I'm not saying its the end all be all or that I agree with them, but i do think it is intresting

Yeah, I don't see us picking Treadwell over any of those guys. To me, at the very least, Nkem and Stanley are locks to go into the top 10. I don't see them falling past that and if they fell due to injury or a poor combine then I don't see us passing on them either.

I'll give you props on creating a unique mock, I'm going to take a look at Karl Joseph, I've heard a bit of him but I haven't really watched much of him. I'll give you props on us picking an ILB, we might need one with Daryl Smith future being in question and Arthur Brown becoming a no-show.

the trade value is way off right there, going from 5 to 15, is a huge leap, you could probably add 1 of...

1. another first rounder

2. next years 2nd and this years 3rd

3. a 5th and 2 more 2nd rounders

i would be disappointed with trading back that far and only pulling in that much, hell id be disappointed making a leap that big and getting an appropriate trade value lol. i absolutely HATE the mid first round this year, i think ogbah rises and he is the only mid first guy i really like, ive also soured on treadwell a bit, but thats just me..

with the right value it could pay long term dividends but this just isnt my cup of tea, seems like ozzie would be trying to do way too much at one time, also imagine 5 years from now how many big contracts would be due lol

I'd honestly look at the haul the Rams got and see that as a starting point. Trading from 15 to 5 or 3 would be insanely costly.

Well I didn't want to over estimate the trade so I just decided to under estimate just to be on the safe side, and yeah all those contracts would be a pain to sort through. Yeah this draft looks pretty weak in the mid round for sure, so let's be thankful we will be picking in the top 5 unless we make a trade or Shaub puts on his best Brady impression.

lol @ bolded  :point:

but yea if we were to trade back even to 11 or 12 we would still be pulling a massive haul. next years first and this years 2nd would be the result of trading from 5th to like 8th or 9th lol

I might have missed something, but i didnt see it mentioned.  The Bears suck.  How would they be picking 15 in the first round this year?

so many teams look like theyll be finishing with the same record. we could have half the teams in the league finishing at theyll be multiple teams finishing at 3-13, 4-12, 5-11, and 6-10, itll be a logjam in the first half. currently 7 teams sitting at 4-6, from 8 to 15 are all 4-6 and chicago is at 13.

I approved this but I think we could get a better pass rusher nassib reminds me of a cross between kruger and Phillips might get exposed in coverage

I personally am not for trading back in the first . I like what we can get early in the first too much to trade back. Here is how I would like things to shake out.

Trade early 2nd for a mid to late 2nd, 4th and 6th.

Rd 1- OLB Bosa or FS Ramsey. which ever one of the two are available I say grab.

Rd 2- OLB Nassib. I like your pick of Nassib here whether we get Bosa or Ramsey. Pass rusher is a position I wouldn't mind double dipping at with Sizzle's injury and with it being unknown how he will bounce back as well as Doom getting older.

Rd 3- WR Sterling Shepard. He has big play potential and with our tight end corps we will be running a lot of double tight end sets so I feel adding a play maker in with a deep threat and the big possession receiving tight ends it is a perfect mix

Rd 4- CB Kendall Fuller. I like your fuller pick as well, but I think he falls deeper than the second due to his injury.

Rd 4- ILB Cassanova Mckinzy. With Daryl smith getting older we need to get someone ready to take over and we need to be ready for the possibility that its isn't Arthur brown. however, Mckinzy would be good rotating with Brown if need be. He is a mad man and has really good size.

R 5- OT Jordan Swindle. We have to accept we are stuck with Monroe for a couple of years. Swindle is a guy that will need developing, but he should be a good Tackle and capable of taking over within a couple of years.

Rd 6- WR Keyarris Garrett. So I don't know how he is projected to go this late. He is having a huge year(78 rec, 1235 yds, 6 TDs) and has good prototypical size (6'4 225). I think he is going to be a steal.

Rd 6- FS Tanner Mcevoy. This would be a pretty big gamble with possible big upside. He played QB most of his career so he knows that side which I think is beneficial. He is 6'6 230 which I find intriguing. I think I would gamble a 6th to see what he could do.

Rd 7- QB Brandon Allen. He has everything I want in a back up QB: Ball security. He's only thrown 6 ints this year and 5 last year. I don't need my back up to come in and throw 300 yards(I wouldn't complain), but I really don't want to have to worry about him making dumb throws which Allen rarely does.

That's all I have for now. Of course once we know our draft position, Comp picks, pro days, combine, etc, this will all change.

wouldnt complain one bit...if it were up to me at this moment in time I would go 1) tunsil 2) Nassib 3) cooper 4) fuller with the first 4. However I wouldn't mind double dipping like you said either. I also like the Allen pick in the 7th. Edited by January J

Either that or bosa-Boyd -bell in the first 3

Or Hargreaves-ogbah-cooper

May have to trade back into the backend of the first to grab ogbah. He may even go before that but I'm not real sure to be honest.

Oh the possibilities. I was never a huge draft or college guy up until this past year but I'm beyond stoked for this April.

Anybody interested in Myles jack or think he would fit here?

I love Myles but I think he goes in the first round and we don't need to target a ILB until the 4th round at the earliest

It would be hard for me to pass on Myles Jack in the 2nd round. I'm not even sure I could do it if Boyd is there. That's a dilemma if I ever heard one. Jack and Mosley? Are you freaking kidding me?
