[News] Late For Work 11/23: You Won't Believe What Hardcore Flacco Did, And Internet Has Mad Respect

105 posts in this topic

I think that this organization has bad karma right now from the Ray Rice situation and how they basically kicked a man to the curb, and never gave him a second chance. Bad karma, bad fortune, bad luck, no blessings, whatever you want to call it....share your thoughts?

Bad karma doesn't exist...see New England Patriots for proof...

I know we have West in the wings, but bring back Ray Rice. He needs another shot, and team is paying him anyways.

They're actually not paying him anything. He has a salary cap hit, but that's for previous money.

He doesn't need anything, and he's not coming back.

Cam Inman - "Joe Flacco's ACL tear could make Ravens a potential trade partner next year for 49ers & Kaepernick. GMs like each other. Harbaugh factor too"

Wait, what is he saying??

He is saying that Kaepernick could be had by trade as a Back up to Flacco not as his replacement. It's fantasy because Kaepernick would go somewhere to start.

Now that Joe is injured, he finally gets respect from Analysts. SMH. Has there ever been a team before that lost their starting QB, RB, WR, TE, C, OLB, 1st round rookie to IR? Sick to my stomach right now :(

There are decades of irrelevance waiting for that franchise and its fans.

Besides Crockett running people over, Buck Allen has shown he is the only other offensive player capable of breaking tackles and making the first guy miss... We need a lot more of that out of him, good job Buck!

Inman may be one of, if not the, biggest idiot I've ever seen...Kap is garbage, Flacco on a bum knee is 10x the player Kap is at 100% and why would the Ravens take on two $100M players at the same position.

This season has been one messed up thing after another. And Joe has to stay on the field with a shredded knee in order to get any props? I just hope he heals well and fast enough to be ready to go next season.

One large, seriously strange and bad year for this team. From refs hawking every Raven player's move and blinking at their opponents moves, to injuries to all key players, to scheduling by the nfl that would choke a horse. And after the OC last year left, cleaned out the coaching staff and left our qb with yet another shift in direction for this season. Looking back it wouldn't have mattered if the team stayed a week out west between games or moved to Tahiti for the season and only returned for gamedays. The turnover in players alone has made it impossible to have the kind of rhythm necessary to play and win many games.

LOL the Ravens are "potential trade partners for Kaepernick." some people need to separate speculation with an idea of substance. Mad Respect for Flacco to finish out that game and get the W. He could have easily sat the end out and no one would have questioned it.

And I am supposed to get excited and write a blog about Matt Schaub as the Ravens QB. I guess if you are a Ravens reporter, it is as hard to keep your head in the game as much as the players who are on the field, struggling with this record.

""Drafting or signing” another starting QB? That almost sounds like blasphemy since Flacco has never missed a start in 137 consecutive games (including playoffs)."

There's no such thing as blasphemy in the NFL. I mean Peyton Manning's been benched last week... We all hope of course that Flacco will come back for (hopefully the whole of) next season - but an NFL franchise cannot afford not going for sure as much as possible. Luckily there's no need for immediate action, it can be taken months later, when we know much more about the injury and the possible timeline.

we better not trade joe for kaepernick!

I don't think anybody with a higher than one-digit IQ would even entrertain the idea :) The trade would surely go for draft picks. If (and it seems likely) comp picks also become tradable, we'll have a nice stock of picks for the 2016 draft - especailly if we pick at #1...

That said, I don't see the trade happening. BUT, if it does, he would still be better than any of the other available ones - maybe RGIII - but his knee seems to be messed up also.  :(

The "good" news is that preliminary medical opinions say Flacco has a good cahnce to be good to go by - or the worst, almost by - Week#1 next season - but the MRI will give us a much pore precise picture.

Man it is just a dream for the Ravens to be picking in the top 5 in 2016! No, I don't think they will have the top pick contrary to predictions. While Schaub may not breed confidence, we tend to forget he's been to 2 probowls already ( a feat Flacco is yet to achieve). So, I don't think the Ravens lose all 6 games that are coming up. They may in fact go 4-2 (best case) or 2-4 (worst case) in the next 6 games. The defense is clicking on all cylinders at least in the front 7 folks, and the secondary seems to be catching up slowly. The defense will allow us to be alive in games and all Schaub has to do is manage it well. So, we won't be getting the top pick, but I'm rooting for a top 5 pick overall, which in turn will bring in some much needed talent to the Ravens.

So the "internet shows mad respect" and then over majority of the quotes are from Baltimore ravens beat writers or former players including a tweet from the author herself. Lol.

It would be nice to rely on injuries as an excuse for us this year but in reality our season was done long before we lost Flacco, Forsett, and even Steve Smith.

Bring back Renner, let him start the last couple games, see what he has. Get T. West 15 carries a game, see if he has anything. Cut Marlon Brown and promote Daniel Brown. It's time to experiment.

Bryn Renner best of that list..

... and we don't even need a better one. This season is in the dump already, so if Schaub goes down too - or he's so bad he has to be benched - it could even be Koch, we wouldn't lose a lot :)

Yep, we are in the lucky situation that we can treat the second half of the season as a quasi pre-pre season, with the added benefit that it's real games, so our youngins can be tested in real games.

If the playoffs are gone anyway, why not utilize the remaining games to maximize the benefit? And at this point, for us testing our potential future guys is a bigger benefit than W's. Butler, West, Renner, Buck Allen, the young TE's, Carl Davis, Za'Darius Smith, Tray Walker etc... could all be put to the test. Not the same time, of course :)

Essentially at 0:3 IMHO.

It was tough for Flacco to stay in for those plays, but the fact of the matter is, he has played awfully this year, and awfully in 2013 as well. He was better in Kubiak's system, but in spite of what Coachspeak tried to tell us, that did not remain in spite of OC change. The reality is, Flacco needs to negotiate a new deal, that is more cost effective for the Ravens, or else we need to start looking elsewhere. I think regardless of what happens, we need to draft a new QB, not in the first round of course, we have higher needs (like CB), but hopefully getting some kind of decent "steal" in a later round at QB, to at least compete with Flacco, would be nice. We need to start looking towards the future, and that would have been the case even if he didn't get injured.

I am so upset over Joe. Part of what makes it so unsettling is : Joe is just flat out a good man. Maybe he is to good. He takes it all in stride and just goes out and does his job. Yeah, he screws up and makes dumb plays, throws bad passes, yada yada. I watch other games and watch Brady and Carlson Palmer, Rivers, Romo etc do the same thing. No one seems to notice it's a team sport and Stuff happens.

Get well Joe.

My other concern is the officiating, come on you clowns are ruining the game, between the endless commercials and the lousy, lousy, lousy oh did I say lousy officiating these games are almost unwatchable. How can you not start to believe the fix is in on this crap. All this ticky, tack bull is killing the game.

ok I'm done.....

Now that Peyton Manning indicated he's planning to play in 2016 even if not in Denver, I wonder when someone comes up with the idea of reaching out for him :D
