[News] Late For Work 11/23: You Won't Believe What Hardcore Flacco Did, And Internet Has Mad Respect

105 posts in this topic

So around this time last year with a completely ravaged secondary many fans were saying that if Harbaugh and his staff somehow managed to lead the team and eek into the playoffs they were the real deal. Not only did they do that but they won in Pittsburgh, and were a couple of plays away from another AFC Championship

What would be fair expectations this time around? Keep in mind that we’ve got $39,343,202 on IR. We’ve got another $22,667,880 in dead money. That’s $62,011,082 in all, which is 43.75% of our salary cap. We’ve now lost to IR our starting QB, starting RB, 2nd string RB, starting TE, starting C, both starting WRs (one being the 2015 1st round pick), slot WR/KR/PR, starting edge rusher, and an underperforming 1st round pick SS from 2013.

All that said, at best we can still go 9-7. I don’t think that’s a fair standard, however. If we want yet another litmus test that the roots of this tree (our coaching staff) are still alive and can regenerate fruitful seasons in the future, I think it’s whether we can avoid double-digit losses. If we’re not going to tank this season for draft picks, as it appears a Harbaugh-coached team will never do, can we somehow still manage to eek out 7-9? If we can do that, Ravens Nation should rejoice.

There isn’t a sane fan in Ravens Nation or any football fan really, that knowing what this team has lost, can reasonably expect anything more than a team to play with a sense of dignity and professionalism. We can take a miserable season and depending on how we all handle it, make it into a season that the franchise and its fans can be proud of.

Once again Justin tucker can be sign for cheaper he has missed so many FG's at home. Joe Flacco will restructure but will get a lot guaranteed money. And I don't watch much college football cause I find it boring. In the draft 1st pick should be O-line especially LT if we can't re-sign Osemele. I'm tired of Ozzie, Eric Decosta, John Harbaugh, and everyone on the board that leave Joe Flacco unprotected with real players that can help and protect. help the our franchise qb, and it always been defense defense in the firt rounds now we must change it up

Bryn Renner sounds like the most likely option. 1) He was decent in the preseason. 2) He knows the playbook and wouldn't have to start from scratch 3) He's young and could back up for a while to come, if he's decent enough. Joe Flacco is hardcore and I have the utmost respect for him.

With Schaub, it is possible Ravens will lose out, but I'll leave the doom and gloom for someone else. As they say, "Hope for sunshine, prepare for rain." Maybe now Trestmann will finally committ to the run game :D Buck Allen has shown that he can carry us, we have West on the roster and I have no idea what Mosert is like, but he showed some skill on the kick returns. Juice is a good option on screens, he's got good hands. Schaub used to be good with short yardage passes, so Gilmore and Williams become even more of an asset. I suppose, now we really won't see the explosive plays downfield. First, we didn't have the receivers to do it and now we have Givens we don't have the QB...

That tweet from Cam Inman is one of the dumbest suggestions I've seen. Absolutely no chance that the Ravens would even consider trading for Kaepernick.

I'd literally rather have Tim Tebow, than Kaepernick. That should tell you everything you need to know. There isn't many QBs this year that I'd be less thrilled to see in purple and black.

I'd love us to draft an offensive player high but you can't pass on Joey Bosa or Vernon Hargreaves III if they're there.

I would take Bryn Renner over Schaub and Kaepernick.  Let the kid play!

Honestly I want to see Bryn Renner back. We know what Schaub is. Let's see what Renner can do.

Yeah, I mentioned that in my other comment, he's the best option we have. He did alright, knows the playbook, is young and coachable and not on the decline.

I love the Phillip Rivers comparison with Flacco finishing yesterday's game. Both are my two favorite quarterbacks to watch on Sundays. Probably the two most underrated guys who play football.

Just a thought, after everything that has transpired this year, especially in the last 24 hrs, what is Steve Bisciotti's thoughts on his and our team at this point in time? As the owner, he must be getting "a bit stressed" ........ :(

Flacco's injury is overshadowing the horrendous injury Forsett had. Although it is a rare event that a team would lose its starting QB AND RB in one game. Despite already having major injuries to key players.

It's going to be a busy offseason for the front office. Here's hoping that this season doesn't bleed over into 2016.

2015 will go down as one of the darkest seasons the Ravens have seen.

Realistically speaking Schaub gives the best chance to win... Remember Renner was playing against 3rd and 4th string players so while he looked promising you got to consider his comp.. so him starting over Schaub would be a serious stretch... but he is the most logical... He knows the plays and the verbiage... so I wouldn't be surprised if he became the number two...he became a victim of the numbers game.. so many injuries to corners, wide outs, tight ends, d-line, and now RB and QB smh... what a year...

I think that this organization has bad karma right now from the Ray Rice situation and how they basically kicked a man to the curb, and never gave him a second chance. Bad karma, bad fortune, bad luck, no blessings, whatever you want to call it....share your thoughts?

Cam Inman - "Joe Flacco's ACL tear could make Ravens a potential trade partner next year for 49ers & Kaepernick. GMs like each other. Harbaugh factor too"

Wait, what is he saying??

Agree 100%. Greg Hardy is the man America made Lil Ray out to be. Difference is that Ray knew his wife since their youth, is married to her, has children with her, went through extensive rehab, and is an outspoken advocate for open dialogue and change.

And the Ravens now need a runningback. So wudya say Front Office? Can we stand with the guy and weather the storm of criticism to give a good guy that made a mistake a shot again? No one is better placed to know the reality of Ray Rice's character, and therefore willing to give him another shot, than our Baltimore Ravens.

Look at the effort Joe put into winning that game ... and some fans talk of losing on purpose. Sheesh.

There's no doubt that Rice has paid for his mistake. Problem is he tried to throw Steve Bisciotti under the bus too. I honestly think that's a big reason why he hasn't gotten another shot in the NFL.

I'll share my thoughts. If there was such a thing as karma in football, the NE would be 0-10 right now, not 10-0.

I don't. I think the bad karma is the overall negative energy (not from the team itself). But I also think of it as a test of character for these team members and coaches on how they deal with adversity. And...they've come out of it with flying colors and demonstrated poise and patience, team commitment and maturity. Many in NFL be it fans of other teams, or sports commentators etc are taking notice and respecting the way the team is responding to all these challenges. Only a small group of people are blaming the team for this 'karma' like some Pats fans say it's for deflategate. That's how they want to see it. Ray Rice incident is not the cause of anything happening to the Ravens this year, and that's another phony blame. Truth is, this team has made the most out of their troubles by showing the nation how they respond to setbacks and disappointments. Again, a team to be proud of.

The league will probably add to our misery and schedule us on the road against the Super Bowl champ on the first Thursday of the season next year. Just think of all the talent we are going to have next year when we get all those high draft picks. I just hope everyone heals fast and well.

When you see them get the air cast out, you know that the injury is serious if not gruesome to look at.... Get well Justin.
