Has this been the toughest season to follow?

32 posts in this topic

At this point with the injuries I have just given up hope on this season being right to break even. I thought that 2007 was going to be the worst season but this has quickly shaped into the season of misery. The only good point is that others outside of Ravens nation are noticing how rough and giving us a break. With that in mind what is the roughest season for you all?

Injuries are part of this brutal but awesome game and unfortunately the Ravens have suffered a ton of them.  As far as toughest to follow I wouldn't put this at the top for me because these players have fought hard each game no matter who was out there and what was against them.  They are competitive in every game and are using the opportunity to develop some young talent that can help us in 2016 and beyond.  It is disappointing to have to watch these guys suffer these injuries after working so hard and being so close last year, but I am proud to be a Ravens fan and I hope they compete as hard as they have the last 6 games.  2007 in my mind was worse because we had to no clear direction and no franchise QB to lean on, now we have Flacco and Harbaugh entrenched and a ton of talent around them.  Having a potential top pick is a great way to rejuvenate this franchise and get them back to where they belong!

Its been disappointing to say the least, but I am happy and exited to watch them every Sunday! The rest of the league better watch out for this team come September next year!!

Nah, pretty entertaining. Gets me hyped about the #1 pick. It's basically become a reverse playoff hunt for me.

It's gonna be hard to watch and follow now with Matt Schaub under center, throwing TDs to the other team all day. Even if we were winless with Flacco Forsett and Smitty out there it would atleast be more entertaining to watch.

But the draft this offseason won't be hard to follow. Oh the possibilities

I heard we're now the faves for the #1 pick. Lol.

This season is horrible because of all the injuries...but having the #1 pick...that would be pretty awesome.

For me I would say so. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I didn't get a chance to watch the game yesterday but when my Ravens app went off saying we won, I was genuinely excited, then another notification came through that Flacco was out for the rest of the season. That's when my heart sank.

I have to ask though and this might be the wrong place to do so, however in regards to injuries, are the guys not taking care of themselves or what's going on? It seems like for the past couple of years we have been plagued by injuries and half of our team going to IR.

Just curious.

None of us really know but speculation is that were soft and made of jello. Now but being serious its just been a rough year. We just never made it out the starter blocks. We showed no depth in the preseason and then we went full on briddle bones in the regaular season. Still we are a good BAD team to hang in and lose close.

I love the way the Ravens still go out there and play inspired football.  It would've been easy for them to give up a long time ago.  I think that credits the kind of players and coaches we have.  I don't see a lot of talent out there, but they do have heart!  However, I find it extremely frustrating to lose so many close games. As incompetent as the team seems sometimes, they can hang in there with any other team until the last 2 minutes.  Not clutch at all.

I think it easily has to be this year.  A lot of people had expectations of us to go to the SB and i wont lie, i picked us to lose against the Packers this year.  Back in the day before Flacco we werent a balanced team and anything could happen but i never had high expectations except with Steve McNair.  I have never seen anythin glike this with injuries to key players and like others have said it is part of the game.

On a brighter note, we are the only team to lose 7 games by 8 points or less in NFL history.  With the lack of talent we have, i actually this means more than some.  To me its something to build on, yes a loss is a loss but with such lack of talent we have played the Broncos, Cards, Bengals pretty damn well.  Yes we have holes and we will do what we do and try to fix them....But somehow i can still find some positve things to take from this season

-Gillmore is a beast

-high draft pick

-close games

- more snaps for back up players

-brandom williams is a beast

nope was harder to follow when there was no internet like their is now where you can find links to watch games and find msg boards and such to read the latest news.

had to spend years living on watching those short summaries on nfl.com.....

i did know a guy who had a bar who taped games for me so i could watch them but i had to be extremely lucky if it where a ravens game.

Man its hard to have alot of energy for this team, i still love them and follow them forever. But wow, this time last year we were talking playoffs, 7-4 and on our way to a good year once again. This year is a real kick in the nuts, sorry for the language but what else is there to say. Its difficult to get excited during gameday, its hard to want to follow, but i still do. Because im a loyal fan, that wont change.

It's been the season that shows who a real fan is and who isn't that's for sure.

And yeah, if you root for your team to lose, you're probably not much of a fan. I don't care how much heat that gets me.

Not really.  I still get pumped before each game.

Not so much excitement after each game though, but I am having zero motivational issues turning the game on every Sunday.  (or whenever )

Just gonna throw this here. We've faced 25 deficits this year with more than zero second in the clock by my count. We've been successful in erasing 20 of them (80%). We've held 17 leads this year with more than zero seconds on the clock, and we've been successful in holding ZERO of them (0%).

Take it for what it is. A simple stat. It makes it hard to enjoy games, and it leads to a poor record.

Since Joe went down and last night game, all I watch is the defense; every time the offense on, I cringe and try to do something till the defense or ST back on.  If we run 50 times per game, I might watch the offense more, but with Matt Shaub throwing the ball, my blood pressure goes off the roof.

Honestly, b/c of all of the injuries, I'm not disappointed in this season at all.  We've competed in EVERY game, just unable to finish in the ones we lost.  All things considering, if we finished with a 6-10 record, I wouldn't be mad at all.

I pretty much laughed my way through the game last night. In years past a Ravens loss would ruin the rest of my day, and probably the following morning.

But, at this point, what else is there to do but laugh? This season has been entertaining considering the hand that was dealt. In a very odd way, I'm pretty excited for next year. This team has a lot of heart, and with the right scheme changes, and a squashing of the injury bug, should be right back in contention next year.

I don't know what to make of this season.

I don't know what to make of this team.

It's been so bizarre, almost surreal, like a dream (or nightmare).

We are now the first team in NFL history to have our first 11 games in a season decided by 8 points or less.

Make of that what you will.

What I make of that is...

We are a good team.  Just not good enough.

We are not the worst. We don't get blown out.

Actually this season has been really easy to follow.  Games have all been close. There is a lot of things to talk about. We get to see a lot of new players play. It is good to see the team trying their best every week and not giving up and being losers.

I never thought this team would be good.  They were awful in pre-season.  They had very easy schedule last season.  They lost Torrey Smith and Mcphee.  I figured 7-9 or so.

Well without out injuries I think it would have been different

What makes this year so hard is watching how our playoff chances taken away so early and watching the bills run by Taylor making a run for the playoffs. I was a big Taylor supporter and believed with time and the right offense he could be great. He is proving me right. I was one of the few that we should let Flacco take his big contract and we use the money on rebuilding the defense and add playmaker for Taylor. But nothing can be done about it now. And now we have a major issue going forward with a big cap hit and contracts coming up. I know injuries have killed us but that on the management having so little depth. Our d is playing better but with Shaub at qb our chances of winning again are slim. I actually can't wait for the year to end. So we can reboot and start over.

I would say no. That title belongs to the 2007 team. They actually gave up after losing that Patriots game at home.

This year, the team has had a chance to win every game and they play hard. I don't like this season, but I accept it.

We will get healthy and Re load this offseason.

We will have a relatively decent schedule next year too..

Our home games are all but certain to be

AFCN teams aside) Buffalo,Miami,Eagles,Skins,Oakland (AFC west 3rd place)

Away

Patriots,Giants,Jets (two away games..same stadium) Cowboys, Jaguars(AFC South 3rd place)

With a healthy team, there's not a game on that schedule that can't be won..oh and bring on the freaking Patriots..

So you wanted to let Flacco walk and keep Tyrod Taylor? Wow. Good thing you aren't the GM.

I want this season to count for something so I am in it to get a high draft seeding. It has been hard but educational too we have seen how our whole team stacks up against other teams. Every team has injuries right now I just don't think any other team has injuries to as many KEY PLAYERS like the Ravens do. Early draft pick... Early draft pick... Early draft pick!!!
