[News] Joe Flacco's Season Over With Knee Injury

116 posts in this topic

Just to sum up the tally, IR has on it:

Our starting QB;

Starting RB;

Backup RB;

Starting WR1;

Starting WR2;

Starting TE;

Starting C;

Starting OLB/DE;

Promising DE;

Backup SS

Potential KR/PR slot WR.

BTW this list includes the 1st round picks from 2013 and 2015

At this point wouldn't be surprised if John Harbaugh got injured and put on the IR...

I am just kidding but in all honesty I kind of wouldn't be surprised with what's going down with us this season. This is easily the worst season I have ever seen a team go through! I sure hope were getting all of our bad luck out now so next year will be flawless... Will still be rootin till the end. GO RAVENS!!!

This made me chuckle, blown voicebox maybe?  It's been a tough year for Harb's, bet he has nightmares about penalties.

Get well Flacco and Forsett. Eugene Monroe got injured today too, but what's new- he's always injured. I don't know how, but besides Flacco, we need to stop drafting injury prone players (e.g. Perriman, the kidnapped Raven, Jimmy Smith, Elam, Kindle, etc). It would also be good if we drafted decent players too so we're not burning on fumes with the corners and WRs we have on this team.

Maybe we can get Pagano back as defensive coordinator and we can get the ball rolling again on defense. Things like this have to happen in order for teams to get better. Flacco will learn from this and come back stronger than ever. This gives us a chance to get some good draft picks in here on an already solid team. Keep those chins up high Raven Nation. WE WILL BE BACK!!!!.....AND IT WANT BE PRETTY. GO Ravens.

Not sure whether this is optimism barring on denial or blaring sarcasm. I approve either way. If we were in AFC South we'd be probably be in the run for division leader :D

What exactly is it that you can learn from a torn ACL(+ maybe MCL)? Flacco has actually played rather well this season, all things considered.

This is what happens when you over pay for Eugene Monroe. Dude is getting paid like a top 10 LT and I am sorry he is just not it. He always hurt and then we have back ups like James Hurst playing. Now Flacco has a serious injury all because Eugene can't stay healthy. Time to cut Monroe and draft a LT.

Hurst literally got thrown into the back of Flacco's knee. It's nice to root for the underrated free agent kid, but that is just unsat. Hurst needs to do better than that.

First of all get healthy Joe. For weeks it's been "at least Joe is ok". Now that's gone too. They've come full circle. This is actually the beginning of a new era in the Ravens. Saw Palmer for two consecutive passes in an 80 yd drive last night. One for a long third down to advance the chains. The second an absolute bomb to an open man who went untouched for the score. The long one was just like a Joe pass. It took off like it was going out of the stadium. I actually couldn't believe there'd be someone underneath it when it returned to earth's orbit. It was one of Joe's classic throws. And Palmer had a torn ACL last season.

Joe is a tough dude. I saw him hoping.... thought he rolled his ankle but then he jumped right back in and led us to a victory. In typical Joe fashion... He had a torn ACL and i dont think his heart beat raised one beat. He just leads the team to victory. Get well Joe... you can lead us on the Super Bowl run next season again!

This is not a negative critique it is just an observation. This is what happens when you don't have adequate replacements to sub when there is a need. We knew Hurst from last year and earlier this year and where he was okay, put him beside Jensen who is new and is beside Urschel who is also starting for the first time at center and you have a recipe for injuring your franchise qb. What do you do in a circumstance like that? Would anyone put in Schaub in that situation when the game could still be won? But in hindsight, was that victory over St Louis worth losing Joe for this year, all off season and perhaps the start of next season. Where we thought we would be drafting a receiver or left tackle with the second or third pick, now we have to consider whether drafting a top ranked QB is what we need to do to start preparing for the future. Joe is 30, is going to lose at least a year, then when he comes back it usually takes two full years to get to full strength. I haven't even looked at college qb's this year as I never thought it would even be a consideration, until last night.

Yet we still keep fighting and winning and losing games by 3 points here, 4 point there.

And some members of the Raven Nation Family want to have a serious discussion about how our coaching sucks and needs an overhaul?

There, fixed that for you. (based on numbers at The time)

looks like our top 5 pick will be a LT because monroe stinks. experiment with osemele at LT

KO must be dinged up right now because Jensen was playing, but when he's healthy again we Really should give this a look see. I'm pretty sure that KO played LT in college so he Does have some experience at the position. So many people have seen the sense in this and suggested it, including myself. What are the coaches seeing in practice that doesn't want them to try it? I wonder. Have they just given up on the idea of re-signing KO? Perhaps, given Ozzie's past MO.

Unfortunate for Joe. Even though he has been bashed in the past (even by myself), we will see how much he is worth to this organization for the remainder of the season. I kind of feel like the Cowboys fans now. They didn't know how important Romo was until he was gone for 7 games and they lost every game.

Flacco is our franchise QB, and even though he makes some flat out stupid throws, I cant help but think of the fact that this man has NO WEAPONS. Im hurt right now just thinking... damn... it keeps hitting me! Why our QB!!! I didn't see this coming. Even though we've had a losing season, I don't want to see our QB getting injured like this smh.

Take it easy Joe!!! And come back strong next year!!! Ozzie needs to get us WEAPONS for FLACCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The weapons need has been there for Flacco's whole career. The poor man needs better protection just as much. He is one tough hombre, but even His luck has run out on him in this season of horrors.

Yes our IR Squad has more talent than half of the teams in the league. Just been that kind of year for us.

I can't help but wonder who's heading up their strength & conditioning program. There's only so much you can blame on bad luck before you start wondering what the heck is going on. Last year the Ravens had the 3rd most players on IR, and now they have the most- by a substantial margin.

Actually, the Squealers have a lot of players on IR too. Going into this game, both them and us had within  one or two of the same number on IR. So, stating that we have the most by a "substantial margin" isn't really accurate. That doesn't change the fact that we lost both our QB And our #1 RB in the same game. While Joe was placed on IR, I haven't heard whether Justin's season is over yet after breaking his arm. I Did, though, hear one description of the break as being grotesque. That certainly doesn't sound good or promising. Nevertheless, I'm just pointing out that, although this has been a season to forget, we are not alone in our IR numbers.

I will say this, Roethlisberger would have called for the cart. I point this out because the press calls him tough all the time and it's crazy. In my opinion he may be hard to tackle but he's about as tough as wet toilet paper. Tough is staying in a game with a blown knee and not saying anything. Tough is not leaving on a cart and being able to come back. The press should know the difference. I like having a tough quarterback.

Agreed and I love how since 2004 Rothlisberger has only played in every single game of a season 3 times. 3 times! Flacco has more completed seasons without an injury and he came into the league 4 years later. I love Flacco and I think he makes this offense look a lot better than it would be with most other quarterbacks in the league. He makes terrible weapons look just alright. Luckily I think we see Crockett Gillmore developing and he has had some monster games, we just need him to start streaming some of them more next season. Hopefully Steve Smith comes back for one last season so we can see how Breshad Perriman plays out. Here's to seeing more two tight end sets next year. I also am excited to see what Buck Allen can do for us these next couple weeks. He seemed to have more explosion than Forsett this year and I hope next year he becomes a stud. I also still think Taliaferro is a good running back when healthy.
