Are we entering a dark era?

93 posts in this topic

You look at the situation with this roster..it's contracts and injuries..the lack of talent in skilled positions..the not so great cap situation..questionable coaches..

how do we get out of this mess? can we really rebound this year? or do we need a transition that might take 2-3 seasons ( with successful drafts which have become a rarity).

I'm very very worried for this teams future. Theres too many holes to fill. I feel we might become the new laughing stock of the AFC north for the next 2 seasons at least..

what on earth can the FO do to help us rebound?

Yeah, we are definitely in uncharted waters with this one. 20 years I've been with this franchise and I've never seen a season remotely like this for us or any other team

Id call it a dark season rather than a dark era. We just need a few good players on both sides of the ball, and this high draft position gives us that opportunity

Start with firing our conditioning coach and Chris Hewitt. Then we can talk about getting better.

The injury plague is what sent our season into the dark era.

Our IR is turning into a damn Pro Bowl roster

It cant be pure coincidence that everyone on this team dies. People who have never had an injury before are sudden snapping and cracking like rice krispies.

It's not. First thing that came to mind with all the injuries we've had this year was the strength and conditioning process.

i remember having a real attack on harbs ridiculous pre season training camp and it Being the ''most brutal'' of all the NFL teams. I was saying that its hard enough to not wear down in the real season..

I also am questioning that conditioning coach..

i want pagano back

How many teams out there has had an injury riddled season like this one? It's just not our year with injuries. We've lost so many impact players to the point that you cannot even dispute what has happened this season.

did you miss 2007 when the media didn't excuse our injuries, we didn't have fans outside of b-more, fans were scared of having prime-time games for fear of embarrassment. Ravens fanbase has grown enough to support this bad season. you can get ravens games around dc since 2011 and you can find ravens fan gear dang near the DC line.

2007 no one noticed our injuries....we were just that invisible team that was bad.

2007. mcalister, rolle, mcnair, ray lewis end of season all down.  and then everyone else was nicked up and missing games here and there.

the issue in 2007 was our QB issue..we still had a lot of talent..the issues were C-mac and his sudden decline..rolle was on his last legs and we hadn't replaced adalius thomas.

if we had a healthier and younger mcnair we would have made the playoffs.

Dark era no ... season? Yes. We're getting a lot of players back next year, as well as the natural progression of young quality guys like Mosley, our TE's and some of the D-Line.

This draft is what will determine the next 'era'. We'll be in the top 5, but also keep in mind our 2/3/4 picks will all be very good as well ... that is where we will see what the future looks like.

I think our defense shows in glimpses that it truly can be a dominant defense. I think everyone with the exception of Brooks needs to get fired.

Now clearly on offense we need receivers plural. I think Buck and LT will be a solid 1-2 given they stay healthy. We learned today how valuable Zuttah is. KO's injuries are the thing that make me ok with letting him walk.

John needs to fix this penalty issue that has plagued us the past few years. The discipline has gotten worse and worse and it's killing us.

They will be good positions in to get a quality player, positions in the draft this team hasn't been in in 5+ years.

This just seems worse for some reason. I guess after finally having a legit franchise quarterback, particularly a durable one, its kind of a new experience to lose one. I mean, this isn't the same as the musical chairs we had at the position before. Plus our starting rb and wr are out? Starting center? Pitta and perriman? And that's just offense.

Yea, its hard to account for and prevent injuries but damn we have been absolutely NUKED this year.

Hopefully we revamp our training efforts this off season and maybe develop some type of preventative maintenance lol

The Ravens are entering a dark era, I agree. Too many players in major positions that are either aging or injury prone. Can't contend when that is set up. Flacco injury just magnifies it ten times over.

We can sit here and say that these guys will be back next year but they will all be another year older and most will be coming back from really serious injuries, in which case you don't know if they can or even will get anywhere close to regaining previous form.

I have said it in other topics, we are more than a top 5 draft pick away from contending.

true.

it just stings less for me because the media knows the name of our players and will make injury excuses for us. 2007 media acted like we had our starters and was simply a bad team.....our team pushed hard to get healthy for the pats game and aggravated injuries after that point.

i just go based on media and other message boards. in 2015 people know the ravens are a good team and are simply having a bad season due to injuries. i don't feel this laughing stock mentality....and I don't feel like redskin fans and i don't feel like steelers fan are bashing our franchise like in 2007; that type of trash talk is lowered.

I disagree a little bit on this.  Yes we are not a top 5 pick away from turning our whole team around, but we are ONE offseason away from contending.  Realistically Joe "could" be back sometime in late July early August and Suggs, SSS (if he returns), Perriman and Forsett should all be back before him.  A top 5 pick will help us tremendously and we should have some money to spend this offseason.  Despite all these injuries this team continues to fight and a lot of our players are improving each game.  I may be naive, but I believe the Ravens will be contenders in 2016 as long as Flacco is our starting QB.

We have had the worst injury luck in franchise history this year, 2016 can only be better right?

This coming offseason is gonna be the most important since 1996. If we whiff in free agency this year I don't see us being playoff team until 2017.

This! Were having a down year but this offseason with the cap space we can potentially have and the picks we may have,we have the tools to stay as contenders. In addition, the guys we're getting back next year, the development of key positions we have such as our te's.Also possibly the biggest factor, which is Oz,Jon,Eric seeing that this staff, our disciplinary issues and they way the put this team together for this season has completely blown up in their face,a long look in the mirror for them is inevitable and heads will roll with accountability being paramount. This seasons bad from a winning perspective but it might be the slap in the face this franchise needs to get back to its old ways while still being open to new trends in an ever changing league. Our FO has been slipping, but i got no doubt in their ability to fix it.
