Flacco out for season

856 posts in this topic

They need to consult me first then, LOL. Told anyone who'd listen that those guys, and Reiff, were going to be major disappointments, possibly even busts.

In all seriousness, it's something we can't over-analyze...at least as fans; let the team make those calls

Fly's making some serious sense tonight.

So back in 2013, Monroe cracks Flacco in the leg, and we all remember Flacco's last two games, now this...it's bad enough his receivers are out to get him, but his OL too??  :/

This is kind of my point.  Why don't we have a young man behind him waiting to get a shot.

That's the Ravens teams that i loved from the past.

It's what this team lacks at nearly every position.

The only guy on this roster i couldn't wait to unseat a starter from the past was Brandon Williams.

A better question is why is Shaub on our roster?

Schaub was kept for a couple of reasons.  We lost Kubiak.  Schaub played under him for a few years and had his system in his head.  He was the brain to help keep some of the scheme in place and to help Joe and the offense.  Just because he's not on the field doesn't mean he's not helpful.

Everyone should blame me. I've had the jersey curse going for a few years now.

I bought a Ray Lewis jersey before the '12 season ---> he retires

I bought a Rice jersey before the '13 season ---> has his worst season yet and...you know

I bought a T. Smith jersey before the '14 season ---> has his worst season since his rookie year and leaves in FA

I bought a Flacco jersey before the '15 season ---> tears his ACL, ends his streak

No more jerseys for me. Ever. EVER.

....OR....you can strategically purchase certain Bengal and Steeler jerseys...just thinking aloud

There is no benefit to him starting.  So unheard of or not it makes sense.

No head coach is going to send his starting quarterback or starter period  to the bench in week 11. That's literally saying to the awhole team we giving up on winning game or this season period. You don't do that and that sends a wrong message to the team and fans..

Does it even matter? If anything, Schaub does terrible and he's gone. Plus, it's not like we're 12-2, looking for a playoff spot. Lol

FWIW, Terrence Brooks came back from a Torn ACL/MCL which came in December and came back after 8 months. I'm optimistic Joe will return at the start of 2016, you gotta remember he takes great care of his body. Doctor David Chow of ProFootballTalk even said himself he thinks Flacco will be ok for the 2016 season.

Brady did too.

I've read every single post in this thread now and all I can say is that some of you fanatics are unbelievable. This game defines the meaning of the term Pyrrhic victory. We just lost our franchise QB and two of the toughest competitors in the NFL in Joe and Justin and all some of you can think about is salivating over who our 1st round draft pick will be. That's not sad --- that's just pathetic!

During the week and well before the game, I told my wife it might be time for Coach Harbaugh to insert Matt Schaub in the game to protect our investment in Joe. My rationale was that St. Louis has a reputation for some dirty defense. Had we won last week, I would have felt better about starting Joe. Given our inexcusable loss to the Jags, I was concerned about Joe's safety with Monroe and Zuttah out of the lineup. I'm sure Joe would have lobbied the HC to not let him rest but its water over the dam now. There's nothing positive to say about what happened today other than Joe's courage and mental toughness. At least, neither of our all-stars was injured by a dirty hit IMO.

Perhaps the most lame comment of all was the one lamenting that Joe would not get his 1st 4K passing season now. Well, Matt Schaub has had two 4,000 yard passing seasons in his career. That was probably the last thing on Joe's mind because he knows as most great athletes know that individual stats are for losers. The only stat Joe has ever cared about is Ws. If you don't get it, you don't get it.

Hurry back, Frozen Joe Flacco! We need you!!!!!!!!!!!

You can see Aaron Donald come flying in, Jensen kind of routes him out of the play, but he clips the back of Hurst, who falls backward into the back of Joe's knee.  Just bum luck.

The way he is playing he needs help anyway.

Wrong message or not, he is our future, and shouldn't be starting in meaningless games. I understand what the norm is in the league.  I just don't understand what's wrong with deviation from the norm.

I don't think it's his responsibility to compromise his contract, especially given that it is these scrubs' fault that his career may be negatively affected by it. Why not make Webb or other guys who have not played to their contracts restructure instead, if we're going that route?

Webb, Jimmy and the rest too.  The biggest elephant in the room though is Joe.  Think its fair there is a high chance you'd see roster full of scrubs if one guy holds 28m on a 53 roster team.    We need some serious high caliber players.   That void isn't going to be filled by drafts alone.

Now we are going from picks to contracts...  Guys, Brady recovered completely from his ACL.  You'd never know he had that injury... courtesy of Pollard, by the way.  Joe will recover.  I cannot see it having ANY affect on his contract...  this sounds like a high school girl's lunch table...  rumors and drama building...  Come on Man.

Agreed. Some people are acting like Joe got paralyzed on something. An ACL tear isn't a career threatening injury.

Had posted a couple weeks ago about if we should rest Flacco since the line was not constant and his weapons were not there. So now Flacco is gone for the year, do we keep trying or just bow out the rest of the season and try to come back better in 2016?

Nah! It was my way of protesting against "Mattie Ice." I've always believed that on a level playing field Joe is head and shoulders above Matt Ryan in ability. For some reason, Mattie's always been the darling of the sports media types.

Absolutely agree.  I am sure everyone in the organization (including Joe) believes he will be back and fully healthy for next season.  He has been an absolute warrior for this team and I hope he plays his entire career here.  ACL tears are not near as devastating as they were 10 years ago.

Joe was the reason we won the Super Bowl and so many playoff games and this year his contract is really not as big as your trying to make it out to be. Next year YES!!! it is. Ray Rice has eaten up 9 million dollars this year and not done a thing for the team. Is Joe really the biggest elephant in the room? Or could it be the players he has around him? The only real weapon Joe had around him was SSS who also got hurt.

He didn't play with a torn ACL. He's not Superman. It's the teams way of tanking without getting penalized.

I do believe he played two or three plays with the injury.

And look at the weapons Matt has had compared to Joe too.

Hubby and I were just talking about that... how big defensive linemen, and linebackers lay on the field and wait to be carted or helped off the field...  Joe stayed in there, continues to manage the clock and to make sure we got the win... #MyQB

And he still can't get playoff win...  well maybe ONE...  Joe's got eleven???

Forget playoff wins, they might not even get to the playoffs with those weapons. He threw a crippling INT to lose at home to a Luck-less Colts team. Lost the last 4 of 5 after starting 5-0. Was booed off the field.

But that's off-topic, anyway.

we dont have to 'talk' about brady.   Just the structure of contracts that can help this team.   I think if we can figure out a way to get a deal like this:  http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/09/30/tom-brady-contract-nfl-patriots-salary-cap

you can realistically bring in REAL players.   Not diamond in a rough/lottery hopefuls.   btw this will be a win-win situation for both joe and ravens organization.  just please read before judging.

He is our QB Mom Gene and he will be the next few years too. I think this is only going to make him stronger. Joe has never had to face this type of situation in the pro's yet but I expect him to meet it head on and come out of this growing process stronger and more refreshed. Plus I really think this is going to help / force Oz to get more weapons for Joe.
