Flacco out for season

856 posts in this topic

Well all the Flacco haters will now see what we would be missing.

There are enough of them on this site. It makes me sick to hear some of their delusional rants.

The way he was out there I thought it was a hamstring or something. To hear it was an ACL was a massive shock.

I'm still in shock. I always just naively assumed he'd never ever get hurt, at least not til his mid-late 30s

Some may not agree and I know that Flacco is a hot topic for discussion for some posters, but out of deference for our franchise QB, that we won a Super Bowl with, who was the Super Bowl MVP, who has led this team in his own unique way never throwing his players under the bus, battled through 4 OC's over 8 years, 122 consecutive NFL starts, even missed the birth of one of his kids to play, and hung in there for this team today because he wanted to stay on the field and win, ...could we at least stay on topic and stop the draft pick talk and show a little respect? SMH!

I told one of my friends that I felt like the world was ending. Seriously. Amidst all the injuries Flacco was always the ONE GUY you could count on to not get injured. I'm feeling a bit numb right now. I'm going to order a pizza and eat my grief.

Yeah let's look at the QBs prior to Joe. They probably haven't been fans from back in the day. Wow bad memories

considering he may not be ready for training camp, do you think we draft a QB?

In the case in which we don't get the top draft pick and Bosa goes off the board, I'd support a Christian Hackenburg pick. Dude reminds me of Flacco. Could be his heir even, depending on where Houston ends up in the draft and if O'Brien is still there next year. Of course, since Bryn Renner is on the FA market, we could resign him for a few years. I like what I've seen from him. Dude has a winning spirit.

ACL tear.

YOU WATCH YOUR MOUTH! MY QB is gonna be OK! He's coming back next week! He's... coming... back.  :(

Man... this hurt my heart. I'm still your number one fan, Fiery Flacco! Be ready to spin up next year.

This is literally the worst news the Ravens could have received.

Just a couple of weeks ago I actually thought about Joe tearing his ACL. I thought that would not only destroy this season but possibly ruin next uear too.

But I didn't really think it would happen.

Flacco ain't the first guy to be an adult and do his job, lol (all grown-ups with 9-5 make those sacrifices in different ways)....just sayin. plenty of guys serving this country in the middle east miss the birth of their children and they volunteered just like flacco.

what's missing a birth when you providing millions of dollars to your family?.....most kids get over that slight, lol.

To be fair we've discussed Flacco and praised him thoroughly already. There's not much more to be said. We praised his effort today and throughout his career, we speculated about his long term health, we well wished him the best we could, what else is there to talk about? This has a HUGE impact on the draft and that is at least is a small positive in an overwhelmingly negative situation. It's not about "respect", we all respect the hell out of Joe and have said so many times in this thread, we're just parlaying this news into how it affects the future of the team and that starts with the draft.

I blame Matt "the albatross" Schaub. Bad fortune follows this guy. He finally got Joe out of the way so he can play again after taking out Smith Sr and Eugene Monroe didn't make Flacco look bad enough to get benched.

I want him gone next year and to never come back in all seriousness. He's been bad luck for every team he's been on the past three years

Everyone should blame me. I've had the jersey curse going for a few years now.

I bought a Ray Lewis jersey before the '12 season ---> he retires

I bought a Rice jersey before the '13 season ---> has his worst season yet and...you know

I bought a T. Smith jersey before the '14 season ---> has his worst season since his rookie year and leaves in FA

I bought a Flacco jersey before the '15 season ---> tears his ACL, ends his streak

No more jerseys for me. Ever. EVER.

I wonder if that would work for a Brady jersey.

Look at Brady, traditional drop back passer, only scrambles when absolutely necessary like Joe. Was just fine after his ACL, in a lot of ways he was even better. If this was a skill position player I would be panicking about them never being the same (see Webb). I'm not too terribly concerned with Joe long term, it's a setback but I have faith in him to come back and evolve as a QB. We should switch to more of a quick passing offense similar to NE next year to take the pressure off of Joe, I think we need to clean house and start over completely on both sides of the ball. Trestman trying to run Kubiak's offense is a disaster.

Another example would be Philip Rivers. He played through a torn ACL in the AFC Championship in late January of the '07 season. He returned next season, played in the first 3 games of the preseason, and went on to throw for 34 touchdowns that season. Like you've said, it'd be worse if he played a skill position. But I feel confident that Flacco will come back at full strength.

Lol, yeah - me too. The only jersey I have left for someone who's NOT either gone or on IR is Tucker. Keeping it in the closet for the rest of the season.

What team actually pulls their starters in week 11? That's unheard of.

There is no benefit to him starting.  So unheard of or not it makes sense.

The difference is Flacco had a choice to be at the birth and chose to be with his team then see his wife and child after the game and the guys in the armed forces don't have a choice.

Grapple I have not read all the posts but the ones I have read dealing with the future draft picks seem to be more along the lines of who can we get to help Flacco and the Ravens going forward be it o-line protection or pass catchers.

FWIW, Terrence Brooks came back from a Torn ACL/MCL which came in December and came back after 8 months. I'm optimistic Joe will return at the start of 2016, you gotta remember he takes great care of his body. Doctor David Chow of ProFootballTalk even said himself he thinks Flacco will be ok for the 2016 season.

You really can't be serious. You can complain about your starting QB getting hurt at the end of a 48=10 game, but you play out the season with your best players.

What, do you think we should have been giving Schaub time to see if he's our future? Please.

This is kind of my point.  Why don't we have a young man behind him waiting to get a shot.

That's the Ravens teams that i loved from the past.

It's what this team lacks at nearly every position.

The only guy on this roster i couldn't wait to unseat a starter from the past was Brandon Williams.

A better question is why is Shaub on our roster?
