Flacco out for season

856 posts in this topic

Who's the true No. 1?  Most teams wouldn't and didn't.  They'll take a piece here and there.  What have Boldin and Torrey done for the 9ers?

Joe's never had a great and true #1.....

He's had no "Larry Fitzgerald"...  he's had no "A.J. Green"...  He's had no "Megatron"...  He's had no "Antonio Brown"...  He's had no "Dez Bryant"...  He's had no "Odell Beckham".

And we will hold judgement until Perriman hits the field next season.....

You can manage without a true number one when you have a guy like Boldin that catches as well as any receiver I've seen play.

You can absolutely manage without a big name receiver as well.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/receiving/sort/receivingYards/year/2015/seasontype/2

Here is a list of the receivers leading in receiving.  There are two names in the top ten you wouldn't associate with be a true one.

The top 20 is even more interesting. Also solidifies my point in not needing a true one.  The QB's that are throwing to some of these guys are still on rookie contracts.  So new team, new coordinator.....etc

The excuses for Flacco's play are all but over.  Greg olsen is outplaying our number one receiver. SMH

Poor QB play?  Drive killing turnovers? Over and Under throws?  Receivers dropping every pass?

I don't understand this post and how it pertains to mine. Please explain. Are you suggesting it felt weird because of our opponents and not because of the injuries?

No, not at all...  Others are and have basically poo poo.'d what Joe does.  I'm just saying that the "W's we have should also be realized by who we were playing.  I guess when quoting your post I was taking the rest of the conversation with it

Just a couple of haters here that just don't appreciate what we got... and only tend to show up when things go bad.  Ticks me off...  Most teams would give all they've got to have Flacco.

And Cam has more rushing yards than most RB's too, if you want to spew stats....  It's all about the W's and L's... And we have more W's in the postseason than any other team not named the Patriots.

I'd just say this...  If you want to hate on Joe, this ain't the place...

Yeah and what happened the last time he had that lineup?  Oh yeah, 11 TDs, 0 INTs, Super Bowl MVP.  How does that help your argument about Joe?

Interesting, the next year we lost Boldin. Cause he could do it without him? 19TDS 22 picks.

I know the line was hurt, the running game was not there.

Flacco needs major help.  To much for a huge contract. <<<<<<<<<<< This being my point.

Nobody who ever left here as a receiver would want to come back just to play with Flacco.

If that was the case, they would have taken less to play with him, especially after winning a superbowl.

his contract was not huge though if you break it down.

cap hit was very favorable for first 3 seasons which is the most important aspect TBH.

also his guaranteed money was not that high compared to others.

there are 15 QBs who got more then him guaranteed....

also salary wise up to this season he was middle of the pack,

I've often wondered, if we took money out of consideration, how many "haters" would then be satisfied with Joe. It seems to me (who actually has to read all of this "stuff") that the number one complaint is that people think he's overpaid. If he was only averaging $6 million a year would they be happier with him?

I think Torrey would come back here in a heart beat given how things have gone in San Fran

I'll probably cringe at the answer, but who do you not consider a true one?

lmao, the only one an argument against being a true number could be Allen Robinson, and im not sure he'd win that one.

I'm gonna have to stick around and find out the answer to that one, too.

If so, it's not because of Flacco but rather because his home base is in Virginia.  Very close to Baltimore.

Yep. Blame Flacco when Schaub continues to be pick 6 Schaub. What is up with that. Of course, the real blame lies in lack of talent on the team thanks to our GM. I know, I keep beating that to death, but it's because many people on the forum don't seem to see how bad he's been drafting for a few years now. Heck, he never did manage to find a number one receiver, even when he had better drafts. Seattle is going to kill us next week. Wilson will have another 5 or possible 6 touchdown day. And their defense may return two pick 6s.

Considered a true #1 or not - I'd take ANY ONE OF THEM over anyone we have now - outside of SSS and that may be more an emotional response because I like him lol

Please, will people stop blaming our problems on Flacco's contract. As of right now, he does not hold much against the cap, and he will restructure next year when the contract inflates. The real problem lies with all the dead money from other stupid contracts, which OZZIE NEWSOME gave out to players who are really not worth it. Webb sucks, Smith sucks, Monroe is a waste, Ngata is no longer on the team, and neither is Ray Rice. Lets not forget Pitta, whom our front office, NEWSOME AGAIN, decided to give a new contract too after he broke his hip. OZZIE NEWSOME needs to retire NOW!!! He's lost it, or else he just stopped caring. His recent draft picks have been real head scratchers.

All of them are great and have played great this year. Senior would certainly be in the top ten if he didn't get hurt, though. You're right, though, that they'd all be major improvements to our team.

Steve Smith would have been in that top 10 list had he and Flacco still been playing, but I'd love to have every single one of them, even the guys toward the bottom of the top 10, on the Ravens and I'm upset the Ravens passed on Robinson

Proof----------No one has!!!!!!

That isn't proof. How many receivers who have left this team are even still in the NFL? Most are not. The two good ones who are would be Boldin and Torrey. There hasn't been a chance for them to go elsewhere since going to the Niners, and both have actually expressed dissatisfaction being on that team when neither ever expressed dissatisfaction as a Raven. I seem to recall Boldin really wanting to remain a Raven, the fact that he isn't a Raven is because our front office didn't want him, not the other way around. Besides, how often in the NFL do players leave a team and then go back? Not often. Your proof is a meaningless fact and has nothing to do with the premise of the discussion.

You said it.... MANAGE...

And Cam has more rushing yards than most RB's too, if you want to spew stats....  It's all about the W's and L's... And we have more W's in the postseason than any other team not named the Patriots.

I'd just say this...  If you want to hate on Joe, this ain't the place...

I'm not really concerned about whether this is the place to speak realistically about our 120 million dollar Qb that is clearly under performing.

Cam with Rushing stats just proves he's a well rounded Qb that takes what the defense gives him. Joe has the same opportunities to run (he can run) he chooses not to. If it's all about wins and losses then the Panthers are setting the tone with their running QB that has elected to manage the game then to put up gaudy numbers.

I hate on everyone that can be replaced.  He should have been replaced by TYROD in all honesty.  With Taylor's contract we would have been able to rebuild the trenches and get receiver help.

Just cause they got traded to a bad team in turmoil doesn't mean they want to play here.
