Flacco out for season

856 posts in this topic

Welp, at least we won't have to hear from those fans who complain about Flacco not being a leader because he doesn't organize voluntary throw-arounds in late April.

He should be throwing the ball from his hospital bed.

:P

Dude seriously. I played Hocckey at a high level once. A nasty ACL pretty much is what ended that for me. On the scale of things that I've experienced that hurt...that one is definitely one of the worst.

I hear ya, I tore my meniscus doing martial arts when i was in the Marines, just my meniscus.  It did not feel pleasant and actually still bothers me till this day.  I cant imagaine a ACL/PCL/MCL etc....

Tyrod would have still played with one leg missing.

We knew Flacco was tough.........his character elevates him.

He's a gamer.  I just hope we find a way to get some team around him. The clock is ticking on his career.

I like Tyrod....but that game last night showed his tremendous weakness with clock awareness and inability to read the open receiver.  You can't be in panic mode....he has no understanding of end of game management.

He'd better be on the sidelines at least. Show Suggs what a real leader looks like. ;)

Suggs shouldn't be anywhere near the sidelines. Gotta love when fans want these guys on the sidelines despite the fact that they've been immobilized from surgery.

We have the same issues here...

While he does have to get surgery for his ACL, it looks like he only had a partial tear in his MCL. According to Pat Kirwan, he talked to a few medical people that say he should 95% back to where he was and be ready to start next season.  Here is more info on Flacco's outlook: https://realfootballnetwork.com/2015/11/24/11-24-15-1-game-silver-lining-inside-scoop/

and this relates to flacco being out for the season in what way?

If he didn't have incompetent people around him, this thread wouldn't exist in all likelihood. That's the point

smh at the people down playing Joe staying in the game after the injury. Obviously you have never torn anything in any of your joints. It's not just a "pop" with no pain, trust me. Many would have remained laying on the field and then been carted off into the locker room.

Pretty sad right? Joe's a tough [you know what three character acronym]! He doesn't always get his credit but that doesn't bother him. That's what I like about him.

He'll be back and probably better than before. He seems like the guy who will turn misfortune into opportunity.

The fact that the MRI revealed anything is a good indication of his swelling, which is mainly what'll hold back his surgery. Obviously I don't have access to his record and wouldn't divulge anything if I did, but I expect he'll have his surgery soon, possibly before December

I tore an ACL, of all things, while carry buckets of salt and stones up my icy driveway. Slipped, went down at a pretty neat angle. I can assure you I had better days than that one. It was definitely a lingering pain, but it was manageable -- until you put even the slightest pressure on the leg, then the party starts. To see him moving around like that....yeah, he's a beast

Lies!! He's obviously a loser. If he was a MAN he would have played the whole game and would play next week. He's no man.

Obviously sarcasm

Funny to hear the conspiracy theories saying this is our way of secretly tanking. Would be pretty smart ( and relieving to know he'll be back and in good health for 2016) but I think it was pretty obvious what happened. Joe would have to be a damn good actor. Wouldn't put it past him! Lol but nah.

I've watched the 1st Mariner commercials and I can attest to the fact that Joe Flacco may be a good QB but he should never be an actor.

Hey look at that! James White catches a ball, breaks a tackle and picks up 20 yards after breaking a tackle for a TD. Must be nice...

Oh, and of course, then we hear about how if you give BRADY time to make a play it turns into a go ahead TD. Sigh...

how you get this from what you wrote above is beyond me....

so you consider james white a competent person but not the guys on our team?

Blessing in disguise, we may actually work on trying to create better route combos (or even, *gasp*, a double move or two) in order to get guys open instead of relying on the same bootleg every other drive. Maybe allow Flacco to drop straight back and try to connect with guys on timing routes beyond the sticks so he isn't relied upon to run around until someone gains a tiny window to throw into. Although, he will surely miss a little time working with the receivers in the offseason, I still think we can get a good WR coach-OC collaboration to work on this in the meantime.

nooooo, why would our receivers actually make double moves and why would we work on timing routes? We're having so much success waiting for our receivers to gain separation and having defenders in joes face every single time we run a play action.

We can hope.

It's strange how it affects others differently. I've seen dudes writhing in pain for an hour and then there's my buddy who tore his ACL in our flag football league and walked off himself. Hasn't had it repaired yet and golfs 2 or 3 days a week on it. It just simply affects others differently.

That's interesting, but also worrisome. I was happy living in ignorance thinking Flacco was just going to bounce back with no issues lol

I'll answer your question with one of my own...how many times has one of our RBs taken a screen, broke a tackle and ran it in for a score?

My wife tore her ACL while skiing. It was early in the day, and she continued to ski for the rest of the day. It wasn't until the next morning that she realized something was really wrong and went to get checked out. On the other hand, my buddy tore it in a JV high school game freshman year and shouted profanities so loud that his grandparents left the stands in embarassment, and he stayed down so long that the refs just called it halftime even though it was just five minutes into the game. As best I can remember, they both only tore the ACL, too, so you're absolutely right how different people can react to the same thing. I suppose it's like that with everything, though.

lol......just like any strain or sprain, there are different degrees of tears of ligaments.  Obviously if you've torn both the ACL and MCL it's pretty severe, your knee joint is much less stable and the injury is much more painful.

Good thing is, he didn't tear or fully tear the MCL. Also, folks mentioning there are varying degrees of pain is not a knock on Joe which I know is how you took it. Easy, fella. Easy.

Absolutely. It will be like watching a different team.

I don't think it is fully gonna hit me until we see Schaub out there Sunday
