Flacco out for season

856 posts in this topic

And look at the weapons Matt has had compared to Joe too.

And he still can't get playoff win...  well maybe ONE...  Joe's got eleven???

Matt Ryan should be ashamed of himself with those INTS. While I don't dislike the Falcons, it brings me joy to see them lose especially when Julio continues to ball out......

He is our QB Mom Gene and he will be the next few years too. I think this is only going to make him stronger. Joe has never had to face this type of situation in the pro's yet but I expect him to meet it head on and come out of this growing process stronger and more refreshed. Plus I really think this is going to help / force Oz to get more weapons for Joe.

Agreed

Really hope this has no carryover into next season. Look at Brady though, tore his ACL and came back and didn't skip a beat. Only difference is his ACL was in week 2, Joe won't have quite that much time to rehab. Looks like we'll get a massive restructure with him this offseason and a top 3 pick position.

But look at Phillip Rivers.Tore his in january and came back to start the next season and had a good year.

He took one snap after the injury and that was to spike the ball.

Like I said... most other players need to be carted off the field with that injury.  He came back in.  Very Very unusual.

I could have sworn they ran the ball one last time then spiked it. Maybe I am wrong.

I was thinking the same thing in regards to the weapons. This sucks but maybe this might actually wake ozzie up to go and put some prime receiving talent(sans TE)around joe.

Wasn't it two? A handoff and then the spike?

It might have been. I can't really remember. I was yelling at the TV while the clock continued to run. Now we know why another play wasn't run before the FG.

So what does this mean with his contract?   He stunk Butt and he is now a QB with ACL/MCL tear.

Can we expect to see his fat contract shaved so we can load on some weapons?   Or is his agent going to pump his chest to crown Joe the savior of our football team?

Its pretty evident Joe needs weapons.   No more 'what ifs'   He needs a guaranteed weapons and superstars around him.    Will Joe abide to get that done with FO or what?

It shouldn't be a major surprise for Joe Flacco  to have a down year after getting  a new offensive coordinator  and haven't to deal with so many young receiver options this season.  The free agent market next year  at the wide receiver position isn't really all that appealing to me but there are some  talented receivers.

I expect Flacco get a contract extension similar to what Eli Manning got  but even with Flacco down year and season ending injury I expect The Ravens to give him  a respectable contract extension.

we dont have to 'talk' about brady.   Just the structure of contracts that can help this team.   I think if we can figure out a way to get a deal like this:  http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/09/30/tom-brady-contract-nfl-patriots-salary-cap

you can realistically bring in REAL players.   Not diamond in a rough/lottery hopefuls.   btw this will be a win-win situation for both joe and ravens organization.  just please read before judging.

Let's clear up a few misconceptions here:

1. That's like Brady 5th contract. He's already made north of $150M in his career I believe.

2. When he signed the contract, it was FULLY GUARANTEED, which is practically unheard of. That deal had more guaranteed money than Joe's, which is all that matters. Joe would gladly take a deal like this if the Ravens guaranteed 100% of it, but the Ravens obviously would never do that.

In short, a deal like that isn't and shouldn't happen for Joe. Move on.

What a nightmare man. What did we do to the football gods?

Anyway- whats the ballpark for how long it usually takes to recover from that type of injury? Man I was really looking forward to seeing him play Monday night football next week- the last 3 games haven't been televised where I'm at.

So much for that 4000 yard season. Atleast we'll be getting a top 5 pick now..that's pretty clear.

People keep spouting this nonsense about "Brady taking less." His PR really does work. It's super annoying for those of us who actually pay attention.

Flacco won't have that 4k season, but he still doesn't have a losing full season either.

Silver lining? Idk. Lol.

It was. I just looked at the drive chart. My mistake

I had to think about it too because I was yelling at my TV too. LOL.

Yeah I couldn't understand what they were doing. Tucker was off today so you would have thought they would try and get closer to make it easier.

No head coach is going to send his starting quarterback or starter period  to the bench in week 11. That's literally saying to the awhole team we giving up on winning game or this season period. You don't do that and that sends a wrong message to the team and fans..

If Harbaugh benched Joe Flacco throughout the second half of the season, he'd be searching for a job on Christmas Eve. It would've been utterly ridiculous. You're telling your team that there's no point in trying anymore at that point and I'd be willing to wager that the stadiums would be much emptier thereafter.

Webb, Jimmy and the rest too.  The biggest elephant in the room though is Joe.  Think its fair there is a high chance you'd see roster full of scrubs if one guy holds 28m on a 53 roster team.    We need some serious high caliber players.   That void isn't going to be filled by drafts alone.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him extend/restructure, and I'm pretty confident he will if asked. I just don't think it is fair to expect it of him.

We may not want to extend until we know how well he recovers, especially if it is both ACL and MCL. This could change at least the timing of off-season plans.

Especially when you consider no person on this planet would agree to be paid less just so their coworkers can be paid more.

I've read some inaccurate posts here that seem to imply some significance to the torn MCL as if it increases the severity of the injury. I don't mean to talk down to anyone but it's very common to tear both and it doesn't make Joe's future any more or less bleak. Please stop mentioning the MCL as if it affects anything because it doesn't.

He's got a torn ACL and it'll take him roughly 6 months minimum to fully recover. I think chances are strong he's here for camp. I'm more concerned with how this affects our decision to restructure and the chemistry of the offense.

Can certainly through a monkey wrench in FA plans. You'd ideally like to see him get extended in the March/April timeframe prior to FA beginning, since a large chunk of our cap money to spend would come from his extension.

If that gets delayed into the summer, we may have very little cap space to spend in FA.

This is kind of my point.  Why don't we have a young man behind him waiting to get a shot.

That's the Ravens teams that i loved from the past.

It's what this team lacks at nearly every position.

The only guy on this roster i couldn't wait to unseat a starter from the past was Brandon Williams.

A better question is why is Shaub on our roster?

The original point you were making was that we shouldn't have been playing Flacco because the season is lost.

The idea was that all the value left in this season was improving for next year. That would mean, getting our young TEs and WRs to build chemistry with the guy who will be playing QB into the future.

So, it wouldn't have mattered if we had Schaub or some other young QB on the roster, you play your franchise QB through the season. Making it sound as if we were stupid for putting him in harms way in a "lost season" is nonsense.

Patriots fans are literal trash. Dumb talk about "karma" everywhere.

Totally classless fans and organization.  The tide will turn ~ it may take a while, but the tide will turn.

I want them to finish 16-0 and lose in the first round.

Amazing amounts of respect for Flacco that I'm seeing from ALL fans except for those trashbags.

This is another example of the league screwing us hear me out. Keenum is obviously concussed the game should stop he's taken out. Foles comes in doesnt fumble we go to OT or lose the game. Instead a QB who should be out the game due to be leagues standard protocol for player safety loses the ball instead they injure one QB and risk anothers health.

That would be pretty special considering an 16-0 team would be on a bye and not play in the 1st round
