[News] Breshad Perriman Explains Prolonged Knee Injury

45 posts in this topic

Even a partial tear wouldn't normally take that long to heal...  but while it happened in July, and then he tore it again in September, it makes more sense.  That's all we wanted to hear.

From how it sounds, he had more than the knee going on...  mindset because of the knee can hamper things.  Sounds like his parents helped out with the residual stuff.

Nice to finally hear directly from Perriman. When I met this nice, soft spoken young man last week at Camp's charity event (before he was put on IR), I could tell that Perriman was extremely disappointed that he hasn't been able to play this year. It upsets me that over the months so much venom has been vented unfairly upon Perriman, as though he was a wimp for not playing, bust of a draft, the venom goes on. It is really sad that on top of dealing with an injury, Perriman was mentally in a black hole and the brutal comments did not go unnoticed by him. Yes, Perriman was told to tune all the negativity out but the attacks on him from his supposed fan base certainly didn't help. I am glad he finally spoke publically and I hope that Ravens fans will show him the support he deserves. Next year, if he doesn't singlehandedly come out of the gates with complete mastery and dominance, I hope that the fans will support him and let his development unfold as it will. Cut Perriman some slack and give him a chance by supporting him, enough of the personal attacks for something he could not control.

I hope he realizes the personal attacks were not from true Ravens fans but a small minority that goes online to complain about everything they know nothing about. I can't wait to see Perriman burning defenders next season.

Well glad they and he brought some clarity to the matter now that its over.

So it basically sounds like it was a short term injury, where he reaggravated and proggresively got worse over time tearing more of the PCL. Good thing is sounds like he avoids surgery and will be ok after whole offseason to heal.

The hardest thing in the world would be for this guy to go face the fans of the club he plays for and say he got set back again. I understand fans wanting an explanation and more information on the injury, but the amount of time this young man has spent on his football career and then have to watch his entire first season on the sidelines is heart breaking. To be projected a 3rd round wide receiver until the combine and then performed so well at the combine. Fans need to realize criticism is okay but to call him a bust when he has yet to play a snap does not help his confidence. And that is what the team needs now. Ray Lewis gave this team confidence for so long and with Suggs and Steve Smith on the sidelines, the fans need to not put this team further in a hole. I know I have done this and I am excited to see these young guys get to see what they can do.

Explains a lot. He really needs to get a tougher mindset though. What's going to happen if he gets boo'd at some point? Just saying. As a pro it comes with the territory. Look at what a fragile mindset did to Vince Young.

It's a tough thing, Breshad. Rehab and come back with passion. It can be taken from you in an instant. We're rooting for you.

Totally agree fully with your sentiment Salamander.

"Perriman felt that weight, and heard sharp words pointed at him from outside the team."

Reminds me of a quote from Budda: "The tongue like a sharp knife...Kills without drawing blood".

I think often times for whatever reason, people forget that these players are people too.  It is hard sometimes to tune out the noise, especially for rookies who haven't had to deal "keyboard warriors" on such a large scale.  There is an old adage out there that says: " The tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do".  I think there is a real lesson here for those that will take it.  Taste your words before you spit them out, because once they are out there they can only be forgiven, not forgotten.

I don't think anyone here blames you, Mr.Perriman. We just had very high hopes for your success and the teams abilities to draft an immediate successor on the receiver needy team. We do blame the team for it's failures in that department. If I were you, I wouldn't take it personally. The NfL is a business. And in this business it's required that you get right. We wish nothing but success here and going forward. Now back to railing on the FO…….lol. Let's start a positive thread about him. He'll likely be fresh and healthy with something to prove. And theres no where to go but up…… I trust that all that which has happened is a wake-up call of a gigantic proposition. Do your homework completely scouting dept. We won't be pulled by the nose without resistance going forth.

Finally, now how hard was it to come out and give a real diagnosis?

Wishing you a speedy recovery Perriman, coming back hungrier than ever sounds good to me

He had a grade 2 (partially torn PCL) 6-8 week injury, then he tore it more-probablly resulting in a complete tear, so now it makes sense. HARBAUGH AND RAVENS LIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a poorly managed situation.

Notice the Article states that he partially tore the PCL? That he further tore it in September, and Dr. Andrews confirmed it?

Funny how all the discussion around that time was of no further damage and only a Bruise!

Absolutely pathetic, and pointless to lie.

In fact I'm now not believing this latest story.....Are you?

I sure hope Perriman is a lot stronger than what this makes him out to being. Ravens are in the AFC North with Pittsburgh & Bengals. They don't play nice. Ray Lewis used those words about him as fuel for fire and so did the whole team in 2000 &2001 and NOBODY back then wanted to play the Ravens. This is the NFL.

Kindle, Elam, Perryman, that along with all our coaches who have gone to be head coaches.....these are the reason we find ourselves in the position we are in. Sprinkle in the incompetent refs and you have our current disaster.

Perriman - keep your head up. The fans still believe in you. There is a whole lot more that is wrong with this team than not having you on the field. Ice up and see you next year balling out!

So why is this the first that we hear of a "partial tear" ? Not cool Harbaugh.

Unfortunately Harbs has been doing a lot of that lately.. I wish instead of sugar coating everything he would just give it to us straight but its all a business and he does what he is told. I love him and think he is a great coach don't get me wrong.

Funny how the Ravens screw the PR up just like Rice and BS the fans so they fans turn on the BS and then the fans get criticized for not drinking the Kool-aid. Why is it so hard just to tell the truth anymore?

Terrible job by medical staff on this injury. They should have sent Perriman to Dr. James Andrews after he missed the preseason. A partially torn PCL is a lot worse than a strained PCL. He should have never been out there warming up if his PCL was still partially torn. Why? because you can tear it even worse if it isn't fully healed, which Perriman did. If they diagnosed it correctly he never would have been out there warming up and he would already be healed from his first injury and probably would have been back right after the bye week. Oh well. Get fully healthy, and stay hungry Perriman. We will need you next season big time.

Sounds to me they mis diagnose it and then tried to cover it up. Better find another doctor. I bet not too many people are going to go to him now. More to come.....

Between out trio of blossoming TE and a hopeful year of redemption for Perriman, I pray SSS comes back plus we add another vet receiver or young play maker in the 2nd to 3rd round. Even Aiken and givens are great complimentary pieces, but if Perriman is the real deal, everyone will look better. Speedy recovery to you breshad
