[News] Breshad Perriman Placed On Injured Reserve

132 posts in this topic

Its funny watching people criticize the GM for not drafting great players.  What do they know about evaluating talent coming out of college?  It will never be an exact science; you nail some good ones and miss on others.   Occasionally you draft a future super star.  The narrative that the Ravens haven't drafted well as of late is completely bogus.  Timmy Jernigan and CJ Mosley are projected long term stars at their positions.  Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle and Crocket Gillmore are consistently improving and have made plays at TE.  Brandon Williams is already one of the best DT's in the league.  Ricky Wagner was extremely good last year as a rookie, while Z'Darious Smith and Carl Davis have shown the potential to grow into impact players.  Who knows how good Buck Allen might be as he continues to develop.  And Kyle Jusczyk has been highly productive as a pass catching fullback.  So what if top picks Matt Elam and Arthur Brown haven't panned out.  Move on and work on the many talents you do have.

Its time for Ravens fans to stop whining and pull up the big boy pants.  Bad season's are part of the deal and the Ravens are not far away from having a winning record.  Embrace the one losing season and pull for your team.  But trying to find errors in drafting talent is futile and what every fan of every team can complain about.  Even the winning ones.

Maybe, just maybe, all this bashing will make him put his big boy pants on next year and make everyone eat crow. Especially me.

Well, the good news is we'll essentially have two first round players come next Fall because barely anyone has seen him play yet.

Assuming he plays.

And we should believe that this issue isn't long term..... why exactly? He was supposed to be playing by the end of training camp so don't judge me if I'm a bit skeptical about this prognosis

Everything happens for a reason. Perriman is too talented to be a bust. He rarely missed any games in college. It's not Perriman who is deciding if he can practice or not, it is his doctors. To say he is "soft" is an ignorant judgement. I know we are all disappointed that he won't play this season, but a season like this for Perriman is going to make him crazy hungry. This season is lost, and we will rebuild with a top 10 draft spot for the first time in a long time this offseason. The rise of Perriman is coming, along with a new generation of talented Ravens.

I read on line that it can take 6 months up to 1 year for a severe PCL strain to heal. They probably should have put him on IR after he re injured it and was scoped. In all fairness Harbs shouldn't have down played the significance of the injury and given the fans a more realistic assessment of recovery time. If that had been done Breshad's character and fortitude wouldn't have been questioned.

I've read, and experienced, the same thing that you said about this injury. Different things come into play with the length of recovery. I agree totally with what you said about the way this whole situation has been handled and can only hope that it hasn't affected how Perriman feels about the organization. Remember, he's a young man, a rookie, and the way his injury has been handled by this team has, just as you say, brought into question his character, fortitude, and, I would add, commitment. I just hope this hasn't created any scars other than the tiny ones from the scope procedure. I'm Still very anxious to see what he will bring to the field, even if it won't be until next year. I hope that, with a full year to heal, he will be frothing at the bit to show what he can do.

givens and aiken seem like they could be a #3,4 or 5 receiver for us but we can never find that #1. the jury is out on perriman and hopefully he is 1000% healthy when training camp starts and is not of the same brittle mold of an rg3 or camponaro. i am hopeful that elam and maybe even arthur brown can be of use to this team moving forward. oz most likely trades down and picks up an extra 2nd which wouldnt bother me as long as the 1st rd pick we swap for is at least in the middle of the draft and the same for that 2nd rounder we pick up as well. olb/pass rusher is our #1 need of the many needs we have. if we lose osemele than we need another guard. LT is a possible need because monroe is fragile, safety and cb and of course  wr

I agree with everything you said except about being happy with Ozzie trading down with our first round pick. We have enough picks already. I think we should Use the, most likely, highest pick we've had in a very long time. Not having access to the blue chippers, the very best prospects coming out each year has helped get us to where we are at.

I met Perriman at Camp's charity event last week. I know how disappointed fans are that our #1 pick hasn't played this year but our frustration can't hold a candle to how badly Perriman must feel. It makes me sad to know this very nice, soft spoken young man is getting such a hate and resentment filled barrage of negativity from some fans. Nobody wanted Perriman to play more this year than Perriman himself, I can guarantee you that. I just hope Perriman lights it up next year and I am sure he will give this team everything he's got to help the Ravens elevate this team back in to contention. I hope I am just 1 of a silent majority who support this kid despite my own intense frustration with this situation.

Awesome post! I have felt the same way and have been saying so all season. I am SO disappointed in some of our fans, in the way they have fired off so much negativity, and worse, towards this young man. Perhaps some of them don't realize just how much potential this guy possesses. I've been supportive of him since the beginning, liking the choice in the draft, and truly hopeful that Ozzie has Finally broken his unfortunately poor record of drafting 1st rd receivers. I Still think he may have done so. Injuries are a part of football and, yes, this one was particularly disappointing and hurtful to our team's success. But, the Real problem has been the way the team has handled it and been, probably, less than honest or, at least, forthcoming with more accurate information about it. I just hope two things. One, Perriman, with a full year to heal properly, gets on the field next year and shows why he was considered to have the abilities and talents to become a #1 receiver in the NFL. And two, that all this trash that's been directed his way by a lot of this fan base has not soured his feelings towards the Ravens. Let's face it, besides all he has had to endure from these fans, the mishandling by the team of accurate and honest information about his injury has definitely added to the negativity generated in so many of the posters on here. All of what he has gone through this year could very well have soured the way he feels about the Ravens and IF he Does shine for the next few years, I have to wonder how he's going to feel about re-signing with us. I really think it would be in the best interests of both the team and Breshad, that we, the fans, get behind this young man and support him in a much more positive way. He very well Might turn out to be that #1 receiver we've been looking for forever.

Well, I guess we'll see on this Perriman thing, I believe in giving a man a chance, he's got time to heal and come back ready, so we'll see next year!!! But this year I'm looking at Givens who looks real good and I want to see what Joe Morgan is going to be about!!!
