Asa Jackson put on IR and Jeremy Ross cut

45 posts in this topic

Personally, I think it's a cop-out excuse to cut them.  Players with longer tenure with the Ravens have made mistakes all season long but yet they're still on the roster.  I hate when Harbs makes moves like this.  If you're gonna call someone out, call everyone out that screws up.

you earn credit with Harbaugh. Your negative and positive plays have a balance. So new players can afford to have too many negative plays, or this happens.

Ross was good as a returner the whole season but he makes ONE mistake and gets cut?!.... THEN to replace him you fill his roster space with....ANOTHER TIGHTEND!!! Then you put the other returner(Asa) on IR. The FO is imploding.

Ok, but are you going to forget about all his good returns and forget that you had ZERO quality returners before him? Plus he was a decent enough WR. Edited by Cillmatic

Ravens have signed CB Cassius Vaughn, TE Ford Chase and WR Kaelin Clay.

--------------

To fill in for these spots and Perriman going on IR

Kaelin Clay....  I thought I remembered that name... drafted by the Bucs in 2015, went to the Lions... cut...

OK...  so we cut a guy who has two lost fumbles and sign this guy.

Like Calvin said. Negative balance of credit. Is Ross part of the team's future going forward? No? Then let's find out who is in this lost season.

I don't get why you just don't let WHOEVER YOU'RE PLANNING to replace Ross with, do the punt returns and keep Ross as the KR? He's actually a good kick returner.

Wasn't it before the bye week that they said Perriman was just weeks away from playing?  I had no idea that they meant 42 weeks away!!  Harbaugh your'e a sneaky one!!

It was a day or two in TC... such a strange saga

Mostert was the kick returner for the past few weeks, he sprung the big one last game.

This isn't what I expected, feels like a knee jerk reaction. Asa wasn't supposed to be brought back in the first place. He made some plays for us since on ST and couple stupid penalties vs JAX but we did not lose the game because of that.

Ross was a known fumbling liability, so whomever thought it was a good idea to give him return duties should suffer consequences as well. However, Ross looked more useful at WR in his short time with Ravens than Marlon Brown.

In the end, having in mind who was brought in as a replacement, this won't make any difference to our terrible season.

SMH, that's pretty bad. He does that in purple and Harbaugh will cut him on the field.

I'd simply rather have a guy who doesn't turn the ball over and gets basically zero good returns than a guy who runs a punt for 30-40 yards and muffs the next one.

We don't need great ST returns to win... you just can't have bad ST play. And when you turn the ball over on ST, its bad ST play.

So when does doom get cut and lewis. Pathetic to make statement cuts with fringe players and have a different rule for everyone else.

Cut one of the best pass rushers in the league because of one bad play made on a play that the NFL admitted, shouldn't have happened...

If they were to cut Lewis, it would have to be after June 1st. Ravens would save $800K according to Over the Cap.

Punt returner has been a mess ever since Jacoby lost his speed. Feels like we've been just cycling players in and out of there.

He wasn't that great of a returner tbh..

Of course you have different rules for different people.

Obviously, not every player on the field is created equal. Players who are more accomplished and more valuable get more benefit of the doubt than guys who aren't.

Works the exact same way throughout the world. This isn't some John Harbaugh problem. Its precisely how society works, and frankly, how society should work.

Beats who we had before.

Not really. You don't even know who the returner was before, but one thing we do know about him... he didn't turn the ball over.

Honestly, return yardage wouldn't crack the top 3 most important aspects of being a returner in today's game. Its simply overrated.

I was being sarcastic on that. I don't think Ross deserves to be singled out and cut for Sunday.

The decision seems like one a coach under pressure would make, even though he shouldn't be.

Same with babin, shouldn't have been cut. Bench the guy, fine him if its allowed, but I don't agree with cutting f a guy 2 days after a game where other players made bigger mistakes, your star qb and pass rusher included.
