[News] Ravens Want To Run The Ball More

48 posts in this topic

Jacksonville has a great run stopping defense. It made sense to be pass heavy early on to not only try to get some points on the board quickly at home but to also soften up the defense for the play action. Not Trestman's fault there.

We have one (sort of) WR in Aiken and 3 rookie TE's that just started shaving so what did you think our passing game was going to look like? You gotta do what you gotta do and I saw no problem with the game plan.

I think Flacco is good enough to throw it more than 1:1 ratio (run/pass). Just a handful of running plays in a half is prob. not enough though. I think we need to find out if Flacco is 'Elite' or not. He's gold in my book, but I'm an easy guy to impress and I like Joe and think he's cool. Anyway, he hasn't been as good as Drew Brees and got outplayed vs. the Browns QB earlier, McCown, I think. So yeah, he's not at the top of the heap, but I think in this day and age, you need to be proficient at throwing the ball or you won't win that many games. Look at the QB from Oak. Derek Carr. He had a whale of a game vs. us earlier this year, so Flacco needs to improve and he needs to get better even with sub-par receivers. Otherwise teams will stack the box, knowing we don't have a passing game to beat them. It's that simple. Until he throws 4 TD's and 425 yards, they're going to dare us to try to win in the air, throwing downfield, short, medium, or long. Stack the box!

Would it be that much of a stretch to bring West up and give him some reps? I know he's only been on the roster a few days, but I'd love to see him get a few chances against Cleveland after we play St. Louis. But then again we actually have to try to run the ball first in order for that to happen.

Please tell Trestman Joe's record when he passes more than 40 times. He can still put up strong numbers with 40 pass attempts, if he calls a balanced game and allows the Run game to open up the pass game.

Trestman abandons the run the moment we are down a point. The offense seems to never have any kind of balance. Even though it's a while away. If we don't completely tank, I'd be for grabbing Fournette! We need to use the strength of our line.

I feel that Trestman is helping the Ravens upgrade there passing attack as it is a passing league. They need this experience and practice in real games to become better. We should equal passing and running plays to balance it out depending and accordingly.

Why can't they realize that Flacco needs to throw no more than 25 to 35 times a game. Anytime he throws 40 or more we usaually lose that game. Justin Forsett needs to get 20 plus carries. It's that simple. Why is Trestman calling all these passing plays when we don't have high caliber recievers? Look at the Dallas Cowboys last season. Romo had a MVP like season because they ran DeMarco Murray down teams throats and called passing plays when they needed to and that's with Dez Bryant at reciever. We need to have that mindset as well.

Gorgee3, Gorgee3, Gorgee3 Have these receivers probably will not be on this team come next Sept. Trestman does not have run plays. He is in the wrong position and should not be OC.

Here's my thing with our running game, too inconsistant to make an impact. We need balance but Tres like passing over running the ball it seems. Gotta keep pushing forward with it though even if its not working as we would like.

The only frequency and efficiency issues we have in running the football is Trestman. We have the same Oline and OL coach. The playbook hasn't changed. It's obvious there is a lack of belief in Trestman as the OC by the players and likely by the rest of the offensive coaches. He's not the right personality and hasn't demonstrated any leadership to date. So what a defensive puts 8 in the box? We've proven that OL can push the point of attack if you put it on them. It is simply the OC's preference to call passing plays 70% of the time. The tape doesn't lie but John has regarding this OC. I suspect they went with him because he wasn't going to get a HC position for a few years or ever again and I'd think they regret this decision simply because he's not a smashmouth run 1st type of coach. You can't replace Kubiak, but you can run the ball!
