[News] John Harbaugh Comes Down Hard On Asa Jackson, Jeremy Ross

83 posts in this topic

Ross has showed promise at WR as well, when he's been in. Maybe not consistently good (but who has been this year aside from SSS). I'm afraid he'll be benched now - maybe West can step in.

Whens he gonna come down on Pees??????????/

I'm sure he has. What? just because he doesn't come out and blast his coaches in the media does that mean that he doesn't come down on him? Head Coaches just don't do that. Good example is the Saints. As of the last Press conference which was just hours before Rob Ryan got fired, Peyton didn't say a word. Actually he said that Rob Ryan was still his DC. So if people are waiting for Harbaugh to come out in the media and degrade his coaches , it's never going to happen. You won't hear anything until something is actually done.

I agree. I'm just pointing out that decision making is the most important aspect of returning kicks these days.

I'd rather have a guy who calls a fair catch on every punt and doesn't fumble the ball than a guy who gets 30 yards on a return and then fumbles the next one.

I understand.  Then maybe leave him as a Kick returner.  That is where he has averaged 29 yds and no fumbles.  Maybe put someone else in as Punt returner.  as Punt Returner - 10 Returns (1 real fumble )  as Kick Returner - 7 Returns 0 fumbles and 29 yd avg.

Just curious, How many losing season does it take to fire a head coach? or any coach?

Subjective based on the team.

More than one, though, would generally be assumed.

So we should fire after 1, 2 or 4 years? Brian got fired after 3 losing seasons and final 5-11 season. You think Ravens can win three more games?

Why are we even talking about firing Harbs!! This makes no sense!! If you are all for it than tell me this...who are you going to replace him with? Trestman? Com'on

Consistency and unity between the coaching staff and the front office has been a large reason for our success.

The punt return situation reminds me of the decision to cut Stover. It's a transition year. Ravens lost 1-2 games the next season because of that decision. Hopefully Harbs learns this time. Cutting Jacoby wasn't wise without a replacement that could be trusted. A fumbled punt is two big a deal. And with an unreliable returner, it's likely to happen more than once.

But we couldn't trust Jacoby either...

Im willing to have Rob Ryan come on as defensive coordinator next year... Ross sadly will lose his job as will Asa, I wouldn't be surprised if West gets one of their Roster spots

Give a realistic recommendation for a new HC.  I get so tired of "fans" saying Harbaugh needs to go, but no one can recommend his replacement.  I'm still waiting on someone to name a good HC candidate.  *crickets*

Well, besides any coach in the NFL with a strong backbone,  I wouldn't mind seeing a HC or D-coordinator from any of these college teams.

1. Boston College

2. Alabama

3. Florida

Regardless, there are plenty of coaches out here, and it doesn't matter who we "recommend as a replacement" because our opinion on that matter has no effect, the point is we "fans" are putting it out there that this team does need better coaches.

You understand

It won't hurt my feelings to see a fumbler departing.

If Urban is activated they will have to send someone packing and his name is right at the top

You understand

1. I have no idea how you came up with that list of schools, but frankly none of them are impressive from a coaching standpoint. In particular, I literally have no idea how BC got on that list. I certainly wouldn't want a college coach from an irrelevant football college coaching a professional football team.

2. You are right. It doesn't matter who we recommend. But by that same token, it doesn't matter what we think the problems are either, because in many cases fans aren't qualified to identify the problems either, let alone identify solutions.

Its just something all fans should consider. It doesn't really require much to identify an obvious problem... that's sort of like being a "bare minimum" fan. When you identify a problem, but can't identify a reasonable solution, what was the point of identifying the problem to begin with?

Harbs job isn't even remotely close to being on the line---- this Fluke season is a nightmare we just can't wake up from. We need to tank and get BOSA and bring some young energy and leadership back to our Defense. He will be a STUD for years to come- match him up with CJ- wowwww

Let me get this right, if the Ravens continually suck to the high heavens, I cannot call for Harbaugh's replacement because I can't arbitrarily pull out of my backside who his replacement should be. Did we already know Harbaugh would replace Billick when he was fired? The bottom line is that if you can't get the job done, someone else would get a shot at getting it done, and there's a process of vetting potential candidates.

Sure, you can. But we are probably at least a full year away from this question being a realistic one, since the "continually sucking" clause hasn't come close to kicking in yet.

The general premise though is that fans should always be careful just demanding that we fire people or cut people when most people can't even come up with a reasonable solution/replacement for them.

We got guys talking about letting go of Joe Flacco, yet precisely zero people present a viable replacement or explains how that player would make this team better.

Typically, teams that make rash decisions by terminating players/coaches without having a plan to replace them end up spending several years trying to do so. That's how you get to the "continually sucking" phase of a franchise.

I think now it is time to start thinking about next year's draft and get excited about having a top 5 pick. So, the conundrum is what makes you happy? Win or a loss from here on out?

What a cowardly thing to do. I a getting tired of this dude coming out and calling out people for being young and making mistakes but refuses to call out the old dogs for making the same mistakes all the time. He finds the guys who are least likely to kick up a storm versus the media and then just obliterates them because they have no star power, truly a sign of a weak person.

Melvin was learning and made a mistake, boom, cut. Wright makes a mistake, and gets lambasted after being here for one week.

I am growing very tired of this dude, I have never liked him as he is always been someone with a huge ego and he has been able to keep it in check for a while, but now that he is losing he is cracking and lashing out at people who yes, made a mistake, but why did he not come down hard on Elvis ? Why not Joe ? Why not Trestman for abandoning the run ? Why does he not call out his own idiocy in not taking points in a close game that he also did in the Steelers game, but Scobee bailed him out. Why not Jimmy for consistently getting merked ? We all know why. This guy is a coward, I really don't like the fact that he is the head coach of my favorite team. If he did not do his salute to the troops with such passion I would find him despicable.

I guess Harbs is extra hard on special teams players because thats where he coached before he became our HC, but ummm Joe Flacco had more turnovers than anyone else on the team last week lol
