[News] John Harbaugh Comes Down Hard On Asa Jackson, Jeremy Ross

83 posts in this topic

...we got so many broken parts, it's hard to know where to start the repairs. Especially since all the parts are inter-dependent on one another to achieve team success. This makes 2 yrs in a row we won't make the play-offs, let's just hope that next year we can get back on track. But first we have to evaluate what we have to see who's worth keeping and who's not. I think the tight-ends are fine, rbs are fine, Juice is fine, Jimmy Smith is rusty but will be fine, Webby (the jury is still out, cause he's gotten burned too many times as of late or has been out of position), Will Hill will be fine, Sizzle will be fine, Dumervil will be fine (if he stops the bonehead plays), Brandon Williams will be fine, Upshaw will be fine, Zadarius Smith will be fine, Kamar Aiken (jury is still out), Gibbons will be fine, Jeremy Zutah will be fine, and Osemele will be fine. Eugene Monroe should be safe, and of course...Marshal Yanda is fine.

Jacoby- You still out there? Oz messed up by letting you go-since you left, we've not had a consistent returner on special teams... First, it was camp, then webb, then ross and whoever.. questionable roster/ draft moves over the past two years has hurt this team. Also, there is no discipline on this team either- Asa might be a headcase- how many times are we going to let him mess up? Sounds like a sergio kindle/ elam type of thing.. we just need to draft better players- period.

Two years in a row? We lost to the Patriots in the playoffs last year.

Hello coach. Did you remember to ask Trestman few questions? Like, what happened to our running game this season?

Exactly!  Where is the running game this year?  Trestman isn't cutting it as a OC and it's time for him to go.  Granted we are not playing with many weapons this season, but if you abandon the run game and become so unbalanced on offense then you are going to get what we have, a 2-7 record.

The only thing that HASN'T changed from last year are the elements of our running game (O-Line, Juice and Forsett). What has changed is our commitment to the run and ability to execute it. Everyone knows that the Ravens typically lose when Joe chucks the ball more than 40 times a game. He needs an effective play action game to help receivers get wide open because he can't make anticipation throws or put much touch on the ball to throw away from the defender when a receiver is covered. This is all on Trestman. Harbs needs to clean out the coordinators, or he may find himself in Detroit in the future.

Finally, Harbs calls out a couple of players. It was long overdue. Oh, he might have had a word or two to say about someone in the past, but this was more, and Very well deserved. Asa could be gone any day and it wouldn't surprise me. If he can't help on ST, he's a wasted spot on the roster because he's really, really weak as a DB. Ross will stay because we need him as a receiver. He hasn't exactly shined, but he's shown enough and we're weak there. I think his return job is gone, though. He did the same thing in Detroit. That's why they replaced him and made him available. It's just his MO as a punt returner. Keep it up, Harbs. When a player needs called out, do it. By the way, you missed some people.

Isn't it funny that players let go by other teams for making bonehead plays get picked up by the Ravens and immediately make the same bonehead plays here? What did you expect from Asa Jackson? This is why we cut him in the first place and why he was immediately cut by the team that picked him up? What did you expect from Ross? His former team let him go because he fumbles.

. What was the team practicing on their bye week, I thought we would work on running the ball in this game, but we looked horrible. Also I thought that a team with an 8-0 second half dream would be smarter when it comes to penalties that have already cost them games earlier in the season.

We need a better Head Coach, hopefully they get one with DEFENSIVE experience. I've said since day 1 that Harbaugh took the credit from Ray Lewis. Just boggles me that Ozzie & Biscotti couldn't see that.

Why does Harbs ALWAYS call out the little known players who barely play.  I have YET to hear him call out some of the key members on the team.  I mean seriously he could have called out; J Smith, K. Lewis. L. Webb, Flacco, all of the receivers, Wagner and Hurst NUMEROUS times this season but he hasn't.  Be consistent coach.

Sad that this team is 2-7, and the coach has the nerve to criticize two guys that really just got here. Mistakes or no mistake, Harbaugh is just as guilty as any player on this team for us being 2-7. Get us a new HC

Harbs also should have called out EVERY defender on the field except for Dumervil on the last play of the game.  He was the only one giving 100% effort when the ball was snapped.  Considering how the Jags O-line stopped playing as well, if anyone else on our Dl-Line would have played, Bortles would have never got up when he fell.

They have one of the best run defenses....  and the 25th ranked pass defense.  They attempted the run...  it was stuffed, numerous times...  Moving the ball and trying to score TD's was the best move for Sunday...  JMO

Explain 2014 then?

YUP... fire the head coach... and see where you are even next season.  It doesn't always fix your problem.  And he's not ours.

All things being equal, neither of these guys would have made any of the teams we were used to watching these past 10-15 yrs. Injuries make for strange decisions!

Let me see if I got this logic straight...

Because these guys "just got here" (even though Asa has basically been here for years), they're allowed to get a pass for shoving a guy in the back 10 seconds after the whistle blew and they are allowed to just completely muff a punt?

Sorry, but those aren't acceptable plays in pee wee football on your first day, let alone playing for any NFL team, ever.

I'm sorry if the coach comes down hard on Asa and Ross when is he gonna come down hard on Joe Flacco?! Those INTs are killers also but Joe is getting away with this junk too much I would bench him to let it really soak in because nothing seems to bother him so him sitting the bench should be taken the same way! "LET MATT START" wish Tyrod was still here because what got Joe here was his arm and now he isn't using it correctly and it's killing this team! Hey Harbs Joe did bad also! No?!

Give a realistic recommendation for a new HC.  I get so tired of "fans" saying Harbaugh needs to go, but no one can recommend his replacement.  I'm still waiting on someone to name a good HC candidate.  *crickets*

That first "fumble" by Ross in Arizona was not a fumble at all. Another Ref botched call. His leg was down when the ball came out. So realistically this is his first fumble. He is a playmaker as a returner and really our only one back there. He provides a spark for the offense with his returns. I would hate to see him removed from that job. He is averaging 29 yards a return.

... on a kick that he should have called a fair catch for to begin with. There's more to being a punt returner than just catching the ball and "making plays".

On a team that is so devoid of playmakers I would rather see him back there than not. But that is just my opinion.

Yes the punt cost us a touchdown but going for it on fourth and four when we could have pinned them left them with field position where they scored one of their four touchdowns. If we are going to cut Ross, we should cut Harbaugh as well. At least this is only the first time Ross has cost us a TD....

I agree. I'm just pointing out that decision making is the most important aspect of returning kicks these days.

I'd rather have a guy who calls a fair catch on every punt and doesn't fumble the ball than a guy who gets 30 yards on a return and then fumbles the next one.
