[News] Late For Work 11/16: P-Word Officially Banned From Ravens Facility

140 posts in this topic

This was the Sorriest, dumbest lost that I can remember and it aint' all on Dooomb! We had multiple chances to put this game away.I've been talking all year about our tight ends and just when you have the perfect game to show them off,you stop going to them. The tight ends and Juice(44) coming out the backfield was all day.Jags could not stop them boys. But NO! We got a Gunslinger for a QB who rather pad his #s than win the game. All I'm saying is we always blow the right moments with stupid play calling,on both sides of the ball.Yes I'm a real, true Ravens fan, just let me know when the real, true Ravens come back to roost.

This statement is just not in sync with reality.  We had a lot of backfield passes get blown up before they could make much gain, including numerous third & short passes that didn't get blocking upfield to help convert it into a first down.  We are actually somewhat of a struggling team at making yards after the catch on the backfield passes.  The other issue with your statement is that Joe completed a large number of his deep passing attempts yesterday, so the gunslinger mentality got us more touchdowns than it did interceptions yesterday as a matter of fact.  The one deep pass that was intercepted, OK, but you can't expect him to never throw deep.  The other interception wasn't a deep pass, and it bounced off of three different players before it wound up unluckily in the hands of a defender.  Big deal.  In case you're forgetting, Joe led us on a go-ahead touchdown drive in the 4th quarter, and then on their final drive we had two runs get totally stuffed, and then on 3rd and long he did throw the backfield pass that you're hankering for and claiming he wouldn't throw, only, once again, it got stuffed, so we had to punt.  Then the defense lost the game on the Jags' final drive.

"Impossible to know how our schedule will look next season." we'll have a last place schedule next year.

In fairness, they Browns are going to fight us hard for that distinction :)  Haha

On the balance of run vs. pass. Given who we have to throw to, defenses are absolutely stacked in the box. They are daring us to throw. You can either run into a brick wall or take what they are giving you.

At this point ... whatever - we have to see what WR we have who can reliably get separation and catch the ball and the answer is coming back "nobody".

Look even if we won this game it would've just been a Band-Aid. It would have just masked the problems that has faced our team all year which are:

1) No receivers (yes, this game was better than previous games and Chris Givens will hopefully develop into a deep threat but their offense is very sporadic right now. They can have good drives and then other drives when no receivers are able to get open at all)

2) Very average secondary and linebackers (talented players but they're not meshing well this year for whatever reason)

3) Bad luck

Yes, this game our pass rush was better and Kamar Aiken showed up for a few plays but even if we beat the Jaguars we weren't going to win 8 straight. Hopefully this is just a fluky year and next year when Smith (hopefully), Suggs (hopefully) and Perriman (hopefully) all return as well as a top 10 draft pick we we will come back strong!

Soooooooo to the Ravens management who decided to part with Bouldin? T. Smith....

B. Pollard? how's those decisions working out for you, huh?

Game should not come down to a single play .... only consistency this season is our consistent SLOP play... dropping passes... (Smith Sr) Dropping potential picks....

And finally a statement about our ability to draft (Talent?) Sure Mosley as a #1 has worked out... but lets go back to Jimmy Smith??? and For the Love of God this Perriman who will NEVER see a Game uniform on his body.... lack of scout ability is killing this Team which we all Love Dearly

to anyone holding on to hope that this Perriman will sometime (play?)

This organization needs to call him a 'Bust' and move on... Face it.. he may have simply got drafted for the signing bonus? Gosh I hope not.... But seriously doubt he will EVER make a game appearance....

This season is most definitely turning out to be a Greek tragedy. This is new ground for us not only as a franchise, but as fans as well. It's been difficult for me to stay positive, but I just hope that we can learn from whatever has gone wrong this season, make necessary changes, and build off of it to make us better next year. The inevitable high draft pick won't hurt either.

We have a very bad 2015 team and can we all concur? Somebody needs to get fired.......

Yes. Start with:

Will Hill - can't cover and too many penalties

Daryl Smith - can't cover

Kendrick Lewis - can't cover and can't catch

Kyle Arrington - can't cover

Kamar Aiken - can't catch (how many balls bounce off his hands)

Marlon Brown - can't catch

Jeremy Ross - can't catch (how do you muff a fair catch that bad?)

Brandon Trawick - can't play special teams (4 total tackles this year, 2 penalties)

Not to blame the officials for this one, because the Ravens lost it on their own, but how did that hit on Aiken in the 3rd Quarter, where his bobbled ball led to the first INT, not draw a flag? The defender led with his helmet right into Aiken's helmet. It was a textbook defenseless player call and they didn't flag it. It wouldn't have changed the outcome of the play or the game, but the officiating has been so uneven this year that every missed call has become irritating.

That's an unfair way of evaluating the skill level of those players. We will never know how this team could have excelled over the past 3 years had Joe had the stability and consistency with his recievers. We as fans often comfort ourselves by watching our players that leave underachieve on their new teams. That is just a way to make ourselves feel better. Jacoby excelled here because we didnt really ask him to be a WR. He had a job and did it well. Same goes for many of our pass rushing specialists. They fit a need on our team and did it well only to come up short trying to expand their role on a new team. Boldin allowed Joe to just throw it up and Torrey allowed Joe to go deep often with either a big catch or PI call. It is obvious now how much Flacco needs receivers of those types.

I don't think they are very bad. Like they say themselves, they are a good team that hasn't gotten "good enough". That's a world of difference from being 'very bad'.

You're kidding, right? Please tell me you are kidding. HOW is Perriman a bust when he hasn't even seen the field? I get it; we are all frustrated, but don't take your anger out on someone who hasn't even taken a snap for us. It is appalling that you are calling him a bust so easy. I get that every tough loss needs some form of a scapegoat, but to sit there and call out someone who hasn't even played a snap for us is beyond childish in my book.

Well at least I have my Sundays back now.. I usually can't wait for the Ravens to play but with the lack of disaplin and down right stupidity by our team has made them unwatchable. I can deal with losses but it doesn't even look like they are trying out there..

Not the point. The point is that all of this talk is pure hindsight.

For starters, there really is no difference between Boldin and Steve Smith at this point in their careers. They have nearly identical skill sets, only SSS is cheaper. The reason this is being brought up NOW is because SSS is on IR and Boldin isn't, and thus, unless you have a time machine, you can't possibly make this judgment.

Similarly, Torrey Smith is a one trick pony who is literally the first WR I recall ever being referenced as quality due almost entirely to his ability to draw pass interference penalties. The mere idea of that being mentioned as a "skill set", despite it being completely unsustainable, is an indictment of the player himself. Naturally, we basically drafted the exact same player, yet again, being cheaper. And once again, absent of a time machine, we can't possibly know that the outcome would result in both of the cheaper, arguably better replacement players basically being on IR. Pure hindsight to suggest that we miss these guys, when we made a very solid effort to replace them.

Bernard Pollard isn't even worth discussing, because Will Hill is better than him and Pollard is so good that 32 NFL teams don't think he's good enough to play for them right now. That's sort of an argument killer.

How can the RAVENS DEFENSE possibly go 66 drives without forcing a turnover.. Seems to me like they have completely lost the Ravens tradition of excellent Defense and unleashing controlled chaos against the opponent.

If they don't fire both coordinators and turn this team around by the start of next season I'm sad to say that I won't watch a single game next year. It's pathetic when Tyrod looks better than Flacco.

I put this loss on the offense. All they had to do was attempt to get 1 first down on their last drive. If they get it the game would have been over. They didn't even try to get a first down but instead tried to burn the clock. It just seemed as if the coaching staff had no faith in the offense to try and get that last first down. That's a major issue within itself. We had nothing to lose at this point so why play that conservative? It just makes me wonder sometimes...

Turnovers, penalties mistakes continue. Not the signs of a well coached team.I'm a die hard fan from the Cleveland days so I've seen worse!

Can't blame the Defense like a lot of people want to believe! I didn't see the game but when I saw the Ravens didn't try to put the game away and wanted the Defense to seal it I knew it was a wrap! Joe gotta go he is making the entire team look bad!

I agree with all except for Daryl Smith....he has been more than efficient for this team.

I wondered that when the hit was made, and when Hill drew the flag. The officials screwed up a bunch of calls this game, but it was consistently inconsistent, some were for us, others against us, I don't have an issue with ref bias in this game.
